Manchester United will be without Robin van Persie against Manchester City- van Gaal

Manchester United manager, Louis van Gaal has revealed that Netherlands striker, Robin van Persie will not be available for the Old Trafford side when they clash with city rivals, Manchester City in Sunday's derby, despite his returning to training after injury.

The 31-year-old last featured for the Louis van Gaal side in United's 1-2 loss to Swansea in February at the Liberty Stadium in February, after injuring his ankle with just 24 of United's 31 Premier League games this season.

When asked if Van Persie was ready for action, Van Gaal replied: "No. He's back in training sessions so that is a plus. He trained two days with us and today he had recovery. So I think that is not enough to play."

Van Gaal also revealed that Luke Shaw remains a doubt for the game, though Chris Smalling should feature despite being taken off through illness for England against Italy.

"We have to wait and see always [on Smalling and Shaw]. I don't think Shaw [will play] but I do think Smalling can play." goal

According to the source, “on sighting the Army vehicle, the hoodlums accelerated their speed, while the Army vehicle, apparently suspecting a foul play, gave them a hot chase. Suddenly we heard a loud sound and the bus somersaulted severally”.

How to bank your child's money

(Reuters) - When I told my 7-year-old that her wallet was getting full and it was time to open a bank account, her eyes widened. She wanted to know if she would be allowed to carry her own ATM card.
Um, no.
When transitioning from a piggy bank to handling a debit card linked to an active account, financial experts say it is best to start with a trip to a bank, but which one and when? Here are some steps to get started:
1. Bank of Mom and Dad
Don't be in a rush to move away from the bookshelf bank, says financial literacy expert Susan Beacham. There are lessons to be learned from physical contact with money.
Sticking with a piggy can be especially effective if you teach your kids to divide their money into categories. Beacham's Money Savvy Pig (www.msgen.com/) has four slots: save, spend, donate, invest.
When you cannot stuff one more dime into the slots, it is time to crack it open and seek your next teachable moment.

D- Day to Vote Out ‘Governors from Hell’

British political philosopher John Locke argues that governments exist by consent of the governed and that people should rebel if their ordinary rights were violated. This is precisely what I am urging voters across our 36 states to do today as they file out to vote for new governors and members of their houses of assembly. We must vote out ‘Governors from Hell’ and their puppets. Readers of this column know these extremely heartless governors. These are governors pummeling civil servants. Salaries and allowances are irregular in these states while they and their cronies live big. Irregular payments of salaries have impoverished civil servants, forcing some of them to resort to begging in order to survive the hardship foisted on them. There are many cases of illegal deductions from workers’ salaries and huge backlog of unpaid gratuity and unremitted pension deductions in these states. Last December, one of these heartless governors was all over Lagos gyrating to the Fuji music of Wasiu Ayinde and Saheed Osupa while workers soaked their pillows with tears over three-month unpaid salaries.

Ways a Pentecostal law professor has helped reshape Nigerian politics

I met Yemi Osinbajo, Nigeria’s vice president-elect, two years ago, during the annual convening of the mammoth Holy Ghost Congress at Redemption Camp near Lagos, Nigeria. Back then, Osinbajo — a law professor and former attorney general of Lagos State — was supervisor of social responsibility projects for the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Nigeria’s largest and wealthiest Pentecostal denomination.
At the end of May, Osinbajo will be sworn in as the second highest-ranking public official of Africa’s most populous country and its largest economy. What prognostications can I make about his potential contributions to the new administration, based on my impressions from that meeting?
The theme of that year’s Holy Ghost Congress — “Signs and Wonders” — threaded through sermons, healing services, ecstatic prayer sessions and an altar call that stretched to half an hour to allow time for would-be converts to make the kilometer-long trek from the back of the main Redemption Camp structure to the enormous stage at the front.
Like many other homegrown Pentecostal denominations in Nigeria, RCCG preaches personal prosperity and promises supernatural intervention in the lives of people suffering from poverty and illness — powerful enticements for citizens of a troubled country whose population has swollen from 45 million to 170 million since 1960 and where the median income is about $500 a year.
When I was introduced to Osinbajo in Redemption Camp’s air-conditioned and opulently appointed VIP area, I was prepared to be unimpressed. President Goodluck Jonathan was scheduled to appear on the last night of the Congress — a capstone event that would be attended by roughly 2 million people. Jonathan was there to receive a blessing from Enoch Adeboye, Osinbajo’s spiritual father and the General Overseer of RCCG. To my mind, an organization that encouraged the multitudes to pray for riches, and that anointed a politician who embodied Nigeria’s status quo, was tacitly accepting the country’s dysfunctions.

Updates On Ekti! 19 APC Lawmakers Withdraw Suit Against Fayose

In a swift move! 19 members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), have applied to discontinue a suit they filed against Governor Ayo Fayose.

A copy of the notice of discontinuance which was signed by the 19 lawmakers was obtained on Thursday by Channels TV.

The lawmakers had filed the suit against Fayose and others, to challenge the purported impeachment of Hon. Adewale Omirin as Speaker, and running of the House by only 7 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

It is however unclear if the lawmakers will stop impeachment proceedings against Fayose following the withdrawal of the suit. Details later

NIGERIANS DO NOT DESERVE TO GO HUNGRY by Adefemi

How can food get to the table of average Nigerians that are living below 1$? Nigeria is a country of hope, hard working citizens, doggedness, vibrant and intelligent individuals yet nothing to show for it.

I have come to the terms that our deepest fear in Nigeria is not that we are in adequate but it is simply because we have a government that is cruel and not sensitive to the plight of the masses. Either federal, States or local it is unfortunate and it is a shame on them because they don’t care about us.
