What to expect in tonight's Champions League games

The Champions League is back this evening with many teams playing games that could seal qualification into the knock-out stages of the competition.

There are interesting fixtures to look forward to this night, which could all but seal the fate of some teams .

Manchester City will be playing the game of their lives when they come up against Bayern Munich at the Etihad Stadium.

Manuel Pellegrini's team will be up against it, knowing that any slip-up all but hastens their elimination out of the competition.
Another game to look forward to this night is the game in Gelsenkirchen where Chinedu Obasi's Schalke 04 will host Chelsea.

However, the spotlight will be on Roberto Di Matteo who will be facing a side he led to Champions League glory in 2012.

Already the war of words have started heating up, with Jose Mourinho taking a swipe at Di Matteo.

"The Champions League is not a consequence of a great work," Mourinho said. "Sometimes it is not. You can win the Champions League in the worst season."

But Di Matteo has claimed that he is not thinking about his success with Chelsea in 2012, rather that he is focused on beating them now.

"Honestly, I am not thinking about 2012 that much. I am a person who looks forward, not backwards, I live in the present even though lots of people keep reminding me of that final," Di Matteo said.

Another game to keep an eye on today will be the match between Barcelona and Apoel Nicosia.

It could be the game that will usher Lionel Messi into the record books as the leading scorer in the Champions League history.
