New Auto Law Compels Toyota, Honda to Manufacture Vehicles in Nigeria
Great development stride as The Federal Government in a new automotive bill is set to compel any automobile firm selling above 10,000 vehicles per annum in Nigeria to establish a local assembly plant or be ready to quit the market, Punch reports.
“The new law, which will give a legal backing to the auto policy of the Federal Government, should be ready in April. The bill has passed the second reading. And any auto company that is selling 10,000 passenger cars must have an assembly plant here,” Director-General, National Automotive Council, Mr. Aminu Jalal said.
According to him the bill has already passed the second reading at the Senate.
“We expect Volkswagen, Honda, Tata, Coscharis Motors and Globe Motors to start assembly operations this year,” he added. Finger's crossed
