President Muhammadu Buhari has finally approved the list of committee members to carry out fresh investigation into the abduction of over 200 girls from Government Girls School, Chibok, Borno State on the 14th of April 2014, by the terrorist sect, Boko Haram.
The President had in January this year during a meeting with the BringBackOurGirls campaign group directed the National Security Adviser, Maj. Gen. Babagana Monguno (retd), to set up a committee that will carry out a fresh investigation into the abduction of the girls from their dormitories.
A top government source said the committee is set to commence it’s work as the President has recently approved the list of members submitted to him.
According to the source, the President had instructed that the members should be contacted for consent before their names will be made public.
The source who pleaded anonymity said that the President wants to get to the root of the matter and know what exactly happened , adding that findings from the investigation will facilitate the release of the girls.
According to the source, the committee’s terms of reference include amongst other things, to carry out fresh investigations on the abduction and the circumstances surrounding it.
Recall that while some of the girls managed to escape from their captors, the whereabouts of most of them is still in doubt, though the President had in different fora said his priority was to see to the safe return of the girls. He had also said government had no credible intelligence on their specific location.
While President Buhari had on several occasions declared that his government had no concrete evidence on the whereabout of the girls, the Nigerian military had in April this year given the parents of the girls some hope, saying most of the girls were still alive and held in Sambisa Forest, close to the Chad-Niger border.
Immediate past President, Goodluck Jonathan had in the wake of the abduction set up a 26-member fact-finding committee led by Ibrahim Sabo to investigate the abduction as well as ascertain the exact number of students missing.
The former government it appeared had also been in doubt as to whether the abduction actually took place. Submitting his report, Sabo had confirmed the abduction stating that “as most Nigerians already know, there were some persons who doubted whether any student was abducted from Government Secondary School, Chibok. On the other hand, for those who believed that there was an abduction, there were lingering doubts as to how such a number of kidnap victims were conveyed, considering also that information was sparse as to how the raiding insurgents evacuated the victims.”
Sabo’s committee had confirmed the abduction of 276 girls adding that 57 of the girls managed to escape from their captors.
The rescue of Amina Ali in May this year, one of the girls who had given birth to a daughter during the period she was in captivity, had rekindled hope of the girls being found.
President Buhari who met Amina alongside her mother and brother, had said her rescue has opened a new window of hope and an opportunity towards getting vital information to help the process of getting the other girls.

Open Heavens 9 July 2016: Saturday daily devotional by Pastor E. A. Adeboye – The Mighty Deeds of God
Topic: The Mighty Deeds of God [Saturday 9, July 2016]
Memorise: The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name. – Exodus 15:3
Read: Exodus 15:1-6 (KJV)
1 Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the LORD, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.
2 The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him.
3 The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.
4 Pharaoh's chariots and his host hath he cast into the sea: his chosen captains also are drowned in the Red sea.
5 The depths have covered them: they sank into the bottom as a stone.
6 Thy right hand, O LORD, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O LORD, hath dashed in pieces the enemy.
Bible in One Year: Romans 7:7-9:29, Psalms 5
MESSAGE:
One attribute of the Almighty God that children of God cannot afford to be ignorant of is that He is the Greatest Warrior. The children of Israel experienced the mighty deeds of God and they spontaneously composed a song as we read in our text for today:
“The Lord is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him. The Lord is a man of war: the Lord is his name. Pharaoh’s chariots and his host hath he cast into the sea: his chosen captains also are drowned in the Red sea.” - Exodus 15:1-4
When children of God fail to recognise the fact that their Father in Heaven is a Man of war, the tendency is that they cringe and bow to worship their enemies in fear. This in turn will bring the judgement of God upon their lives because God says in Exodus 20:3 that we must have no other god before Him. This is why Jesus Christ came to deliver those who, for the fear of death, have subjected themselves to everlasting bondage;
“14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; 15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” - Hebrews 2:14-15
I have seen the mighty deeds of God in my life and I have come to the conclusion that there is no god as mighty as my Daddy in Heaven, the Lord of hosts. One day I was travelling with my driver and we got to the middle of a narrow bridge that could take only one vehicle at a time before we discovered that a truck was coming from the opposite direction on the same bridge. It was the mighty deed of God that made the bridge “elastic” for my car and the truck to pass without colliding with each other. I pray for someone using this devotional; the mighty deeds of God will produce your desired miracle today in Jesus’ name. For you to experience the mighty deeds of God, you must be one of His own. The Israelites experienced the mighty deeds of God because they belonged to Him. To experience the mighty deed of God, you need to be born-again. The Israelites were covenant people and so God kept His covenant of great deliverance with them such that the enemies that pursued them to the Red Sea were never seen again. The mighty deeds of God will become a daily occurrence in your life if you can identify with the covenant which Jesus made with His blood at Calvary. May the Almighty God cause great deliverance to an oppressed user of this devotional today in Jesus’ name.
Prayer Point: Father, please make me experience your mighty deeds this season in Jesus’ name.

Open Heavens 8 July 2016: Friday daily devotional by Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Foolishness in Vow Taking
Topic: Foolishness in Vow Taking [Friday 8, July 2016]
Memorise: Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay. – Ecclesiastes 5:5
Read: Psalms 15:1-4 (KJV)
1 A Psalm of David. LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?
2 He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.
3 He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.
4 In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not.
Bible in One Year: Romans 4-7:6, Psalms 3-4
MESSAGE:
There will be both pleasant and unpleasant surprises in Heaven. The reason being that many who we think will not make it to Heaven will make it in, just like the robber on the right hand of the Cross of Jesus Christ did. The Bible says;
“But if the wicked turn from his wickedness, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall live thereby.” - Ezekiel 33:19
The lawful thing for the wicked to do is to repent, as God is more than willing to forgive and to cleanse him from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:7-9). However, the Bible equally says:
“When the righteous turneth from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, he shall even die thereby.” - Ezekiel 33:18
One deadly habit of some 21st century Christians is making a vow and not fulfilling it. This is foolishness of the highest order. The Bible warns us against making vows and not fulfilling them. One of such cases is when funds are being raised for the work of God; careless children of God make very big vows ‘in faith’ that they are not able to fulfil. You hear them saying, “God understands!” How dangerous. Our memory verse says;
“Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.” - Ecclesiastes 5:5
Verse six of the same scripture further say:
“Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands?”
Worse still, despite being capable of paying their vows, some refuse to, even after God has fulfilled His own part. Nothing could be more dangerous than this.
An aspect of vows that is even more delicate is the marriage vow. People no longer accept the fact that marriage vows remain valid until death separates the husband from the wife or vice versa. They give flimsy excuses for divorcing their spouses. Like one of my children would ask: “When you were saying ‘for better and for worse’, did you put a limit to the extent of the worse you were talking about?” You should never consider breaking your marriage vows. God hates divorce (Malachi 2:16)
Beloved, always keep and pay your vows, and if you have broken your business or marriage vow, repent, restitute and reconcile before it is too late. Covenant breakers will not enter into the Kingdom of God.
Action Point: Think of all the unfulfilled vows you have made and make amends without further delay.

Mus Read: New forex regime, the economy and the Presidency
Written by the Editorial board of The Guardian Newspaper
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has begun the operationalisation of its new forex regime aimed at market-driven exchange rate determination and hopefully, a bit of sanity and predictability would return to the system. The new exchange rate, which opened at N250 to the U.S. Dollar, compared to the fixed rate of N197, has now been hovering around N282, while the parallel market rates now stand around N352, although it initially fell to N330.
One week ago, the CBN also started operationalising the foreign exchange futures market via the over-the-counter (OTC) market securities exchange. At this market, the Naira futures deal points to N210 in April 2017 and N225 in one year.According to the CBN, the Naira-settled OTC FX Futures market is expected to be competitive, transparent, liquid and diversified.
The new foreign exchange regime instituted by the CBN has received wide applause from both local and foreign investors and by market participants. The Naira-settled futures market is indeed novel and innovative in Nigeria’s financial markets landscape. Hedging exchange rate risks, improving business planning, attracting foreign capital flows, reducing exchange rate volatility, and moderating exchange rate in the spot market have been touted among the expected benefits of the new foreign exchange rate regime and futures market.
This new foreign exchange regime, along with the partial deregulation of fuel prices, represents a departure from what some have termed a “Command and control economy,” often associated with the mindset of the current Nigerian Presidency to economic management. This mindset appears to have re-surfaced recently with President Buhari asserting that he does not see the benefits of the new foreign exchange rate regime and still needs to be convinced by the economic explanation given so far. He is reported to have asked a Group of visiting Business Operators: “How much benefit can we derive from this ruthless devaluation of the naira?”
While the market-oriented approach to economic management should be welcome, and the institutional independence of the Central Bank of Nigeria be respected, the concerns of the President should not be dismissed off-hand. Afterall, the President is an elected official and he is accountable, not the financial markets participants, not the unelected technocrats at the CBN, to the electorate on the economy. The President is the one who ultimately has to explain to Nigerians why the country’s overhyped rebased GDP in dollar terms has been cut by a third and why the misery indices have been rising due to falling per capita income, higher unemployment, and inflation rates. Whichever way it is coloured, official Naira devaluation or depreciation via the markets by nearly half, results in falling standards of living of Nigerians.
It must also be borne in mind that most Nigerian banks are forecasting subdued credit growth to the private sector due to the depreciation of the naira exchange rate and the liberalisation of the forex market, which enable them to earn more treasury incomes as opposed to extending perceived riskier loans in the midst of rising non-performing loans in a weakening economy.
The CBN thus has its work cut-out for it. Given the perceived restored autonomy of the institution on the exchange rate regime, the CBN must ensure that the real benefits of the new forex regime do not amount to mere hype. The CBN remains the dominant supplier and player in both the spot and futures markets. While it is fervently and currently ensuring appropriate supply of dollars to the foreign exchange markets, will this be sustainable over the medium and long terms or is the CBN simply kicking the foreign exchange shortage can down the road?
Liquidity in the foreign exchange markets is at present very low. Foreign portfolio investors are still staying on the sidelines. They need comfort in seeing that the new operationalised foreign exchange markets will work efficiently and smoothly.
They are also worried about policy somersaults in respect of the new policy regime. The CBN had to reverse course on the number of banks that can participate as primary dealers as charges of price fixing and collusion were labelled. Should the spot and futures market rates revolve around some arbitrary numbers, price fixing charge between a monopoly supplier (CBN) and oligopsony buyers (banks) would remain a constant feature of the new regime. For example, the futures rates appear to decline in a linear fashion and suggest that they are being artificially guided to N250 by December 2016 and to N225 by July 2017. Further, the CBN had already reversed itself on the decision on direct sales of foreign exchange to Bureaux de Change (BDCs), after castigating the same BDCs. What other policy reversals are in the offing?
Investors also pay attention to economic fundamentals; some have argued that current and projected oil prices, real economic growth rate, and the supply of dollars would not have recovered sufficiently to justify the implied futures market rates of N225 in the next one year. In essence, the implied rates being driven essentially by the CBN are overly optimistic as foreign portfolio investors worry about emerging global economic uncertainties. They also expect further increases in Nigeria’s interest rates.
The new foreign exchange rate regime is not a panacea total solution to Nigeria’s fundamental economic challenges. While it may be necessary, it is not sufficient to generating more and sustainable foreign exchange, which will come with other macro-economic policy levers, fiscal discipline, institutional and structural reforms to tackling underlying productivity that would promote non-oil exports.
On this score, the President cannot be faulted for stating the obvious: the need for diversification of the structure of the Nigerian economy battered by several years of mismanagement. The long-term sustainability of the new foreign exchange regime depends crucially on it.

Germany 0-2 France as the host country fires into EURO 2016 final
France have booked a spot in the final of Euro 2016 after defeating Germany 2-0 on Thursday night. The host nation in a show of tactical masterclass scored a late goal in the first half through Antoinne Griezmann and scored in the second half through the same player- Griezmann.
The match started with Germany dominating possession forcing all French players to withdraw within their half while Draxler, Ozil and Muller tried to open up spaces in the French defence.
N'Golo Kante starred for France during the group stages but the Leicester City midfielder was left out of the starting XI to face the Germans as Didier Deschamps opted for a 4-2-3-1 system.
Newcastle's Moussa Sissoko got the nod out wide to provide balance, with Antoine Griezmann occupying a more central role.
Germany started without star defender Mats Hummels due to suspension and it showed when some late pressure with a minute to go before halftime, Bastian Schweinsteiger handled the ball in the penalty box, with the referee left with no choice than to award a penalty to the home nation after consulting with the linesman.
Germany at the start of the second half were shocked as France started the second half with more determination and hunger to score more goals and scored another one through Antonie Griezmann after wonderful dribbling and interplay from Paul Pogba.
Germany tried to muster courage and score but were left by a tactically courageous France coach Didier Deschamps who played with Paul Pogba, Sissoko, Kante and Matuidi towards the end of the match.
France are now through to the final and will play Portugal in the final in Paris on Sunday.

Memorise: We love him, because he first loved us. – 1 John 4:19
Read: Luke 17:11-19 (KJV)
11 And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.
12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:
13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.
14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.
15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,
16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.
17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?
18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.
19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

MESSAGE:
The attitude of ungratefulness irritates God. Where I come from in the western part of Nigeria, our people would say, “Don’t follow-up your benevolent act so that you don’t give the impression that you want a ‘thank you’ or some ‘hero worship’.” This saying is very correct because only God deserves our worship. As a matter of fact, it is only God that is capable of constantly following up His benevolent act and that is why He said;
“…When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the first-fruits of your harvest unto the priest: And he shall wave the sheaf before the Lord, to be accepted for you….” - Leviticus 23:10-11
Love is reciprocal. The question is how many people reciprocate the love being showered on them by fellow humans, not to talk of their attitude to God’s benevolent acts. The Psalmist saw the danger in the act of ingratitude and preached vehemently to his soul when he wrote:
“1 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. 2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:” - Psalm 103:1-2
The story in our Bible reading confirms that God expects us to appreciate Him sufficiently for His goodness. Our Lord Jesus Christ queried in Luke 17:17:
“…. Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine?”
He went further to bless and perfect the healing of the grateful Samaritan. It is unfortunate that many children of God are already so used to the miraculous act of God that they are no longer moved by these acts. New comers into the Church who still remember clearly what they have suffered by the hands of the devil and his cohorts give thanks to God for every miracle. Whereas, some people don’t give testimonies of how God healed them of headache because they don’t see it as a “big deal”. Such people have forgotten that the headache they consider as ordinary has claimed the lives of thousands. My prayer for someone using this devotional is that you will never be ungrateful again in Jesus’ name. When you continue in your sins after you have been cleansed of them or when you backslide, you are ungrateful to God who gave His Son as ransom for your sins and to Jesus Christ who paid the supreme price of laying down His life for you. When you don’t forgive your brother who offends you, you are ungrateful to God who pardoned your numerous sins.
Prayer Point: Father, forgive me of my sin of ingratitude. Holy Spirit, help me to be grateful to my Father in Heaven always in Jesus’ name.

Devotional: Your Set Time Is Now
A Promise For You From Bible Promises: [06/07/2016]
Topic: Your Set Time Is Now
Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come. Psalms 102:12. Read: Ecc 3:1-8
When do you want to be free from that pain? When do you want to get up from that sick bed and claim God's healing over your life? When do you want to carry your baby? When do you want to break through in life? When do you want to get married? Yes, the Bible did said in Ecclesiastes 3 that there's time for everything under heaven, they unfold as planned by God. Please note that, everyday is God's ordained day/time to favour you, but the day you believe is your own day. Now, I ask you again, when do you want your miracle?
The above scripture says, "Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come". When you obtain God's mercy, He smiles at you and favours you. God's favour turns harsh labour to blessing. And, "The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it". Pro 10:22. It doesn't matter where you are, when your set time (which is now) comes, God's mercy and favour will speak and search you out. When David's set time came, he was sent for in the bush and was anointed king. 1 Sam 16:11-13. When the set time of Joseph also came, he was called upon from the prison into the palace and became the prime minister in a foreign land. Because your set time is now:
* That terminal disease is destroyed
* That blocked fallopian tube is now open. Barrenness is over
* Whatever miracle you desire is now released in Jesus Name.

CBN releases statement over Nigeria Banks says they are strong and relaible
The Central Bank of Nigeria has discredited claims that some banks in Nigeria are distressed. In a statement signed by its acting Director of Corporate Communications, Isaac Okorafor and released today July 6th, the apex bank stated that neither Skye Bank which it took over its management few days ago nor any other bank in Nigeria, was distressed. The bank in the statement assured Nigerians of the safety of their deposits in any Nigerian bank and advised against panic withdrawals. The statement read:
“The CBN wishes to reiterate in the strongest terms that these rumors and speculations are untrue and do not reflect the actual health of the individual banks and, indeed, the entire banking industry. For the avoidance of doubt, the infusion of a new Board and Management for Skye Bank PLC is a proactive regulatory action meant to ensure that the bank does not continue to fail in its relevant prudential ratios. Neither Skye Bank nor any other bank in the industry is in distress. Going by both the CBN’s Examination Reports as well as analysis from market watchers, International Credit Rating Agencies and Development Finance Institutions, the Nigerian banking industry remains strong in spite of the global economic challenges emanating from the collapse of global commodity prices. We therefore urge the banking public to remain calm and go about their normal businesses without panic.”

Group Slams Federal Government for extending holiday
The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, has accused the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Danbazau of breaching section 10 of the Nigerian Constitution (as amended) by taking directives from a private religious leader – the Sultan of Sokoto in adjusting a national holiday to mark the Eid-el-Fitr from two to three days.
The pro-democracy group also slammed the Federal Government for creating uncertainty and causing commotion to the businesses and the private sector by the unilateral and impromptu declaration of an extension of the public holiday to mark the end of the fasting season by Muslim faithful.
In a statement jointly signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko and the National Media affairs Director Miss Zainab Yusuf, HURIWA said the Nigerian Constitution clearly provided in section 10 that no particular religion should be elevated to a status of a state religion.
It stressed that the wordings of the official press statement authorised by the Minister of Interior “conveys the impression that this government has tacitly adopted one of the two foreign religions as it’s administration’s official religion”, stressing that such move is absolutely unconstitutional and must be denounced forthwith.
HURIWA said it “strongly faults the aspect of the official government statement which clearly states that state institutions and officials now take directives from private leaders of religious bodies when according to the statement, the decision followed the directive by the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, and Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, to the effect that the Ramadan fast continues on Tuesday as a result of the non-sighting of the moon.”
The group demanded “clear, concise and with constitutional precision, a Presidential explanation to Nigerians on why a private Religious leader who is not part of the democratically elected structures recognised by the nation’s grundnorm is now the person tele-guiding the Federal government on when and how to declare or modify a national activity such as the declaration of public holiday which is the statutory duty of the elected and inaugurated government.
“We are worried that at a time that President Muhammadu Buhari is accused of appointing and allocating almost 80 percent of all the strategic military and paramilitary positions to HAUSA/FULANI Moslems from the North, and at a time the entire maritime and crude oil sector are dominated by appointees by Buhari from his Northern region, the minister of Interior who recently appointed an entirely Moslem and “Northern heads of agencies under the Interior Affairs ministry is conveying this sinister impression that Islam is now the official religion,” the group submitted.

First Message of President Buhari's Eid el fitr to Nigerians
I felicitate with all Nigerians, especially the Muslim Ummah, on the occasion of this year’s Eid El Fitr, which marks the completion of the Ramadan fast. I congratulate Muslims in Nigeria and around the world on the successful completion of this month-long spiritual journey of fasting, prayer and almsgiving in obedience to the Divine Command.
I sincerely pray that the Almighty Allah will reward our sacrifices with increased blessing and a more prosperous future.
On this happy occasion, it is my strong belief that all true followers of Islam have been rejuvenated on the true meaning and essence of life and through the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), we have learnt to imbibe the virtues of piety, sacrifice, love, self-denial and good conduct in our daily relationship with one another.
As we celebrate another Eid El Fitr, I admonish all patriotic Nigerians to uphold these lessons and also appreciate the numerous material and human blessings God has endowed us with.
Let us learn to show gratitude, respect and tolerance to one other, irrespective of our religion, tribe, language and political leanings, as we forge ahead to build on our strengths and opportunities to make Nigeria great again.
On Monday this week, the Vice President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives and other government officials joined me to host Iftar reception at the State House with Nigerians of different backgrounds including Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), artisans and Physically-challenged persons.
Like I said during the reception, I want to once again appeal to those of us who have the means, to remember the millions of Nigerians who are suffering deprivation because of violence perpetrated by terrorists.
I am not unaware of what Nigerians are going through and I want to use this medium to commend the amazing sacrifices of Nigerians in the face of the temporary economic and social challenges and also reassure Nigerians that my administration is working assiduously towards providing basic needs and other amenities.
Let me also use this opportunity to reaffirm that we will not relent in the fight against corruption and we will ensure that all appropriate and legal measures are deplored to root out this malaise.
I commend the Armed Forces and security agencies for the gains recorded in the fight against terrorists and the rescue of hostages in the North East part of the country.
I also appeal for the support, understanding and patience of all Nigerians and our international partners as we explore the fastest means to end the economic sabotage in the Niger Delta and amicably resolve the conflicts within the region.
I promise you all better days ahead even as we remain grateful for your unflinching support to our administration.
Happy Eid El Fitr celebration and May the Almighty Allah continue to bless our nation.
Eid Mubarak!

Talented D’banj secretly married Didi Kilgrow; The Cable
Dapo Oyebanjo, iconic Nigerian singer popularly known as D’banj, got married to Didi Kilgrow at the weekend, TheCable has learnt from a source very close to the artiste.
Over the weekend, there were series of unconfirmed reports of the marriage, but an insider confirmed to TheCable on Monday that the wedding took place at the family home of D’banj in Maryland on Saturday, June 2.
He revealed that the wedding (registry and traditional) was so private that only nuclear family members of both D’banj and Didi were in attendance.
“D’banj has been in a serious relationship with Didi for the past year and he was a regular visitor to her house in Lekki Phase 1; he visited at least two to three times every week.”
Didi is the step sister of Samantha Walsh, famous for hosting the ‘Big Friday Show’ with Falz on MTV base and they both reside in the Lekki house located on Kafayat Abdulrazak street.
The former home of Nollywood actress, Genevieve Nnaji — an ex-girlfriend of D’banj’s — is a stone’s throw away from Didi’s house.
It was also confirmed that the guests were unaware they were attending a wedding, as it was previously announced that the event was to mark the birthday of Dbanj’s father.
Twenty-five-year-old Didi and her sister had their upbringing in Jos; she is an undergraduate of the University of Abuja.
In December 2015, D’banj had disclosed to journalists that his marriage was imminent, saying: “I’m going to marry very soon and you will get to meet her.”
Back in April 2016, while speaking in an interview with MTV Base, he said: “I am tired of people asking me that question. That’s my personal life and its not going to change my music.
“I’m not trying to get married to enter another phase of my life the way they have classified my other colleagues. When you want to marry they just put it like you want to retire. No, its not going to change anything.
“If I marry, you would not hear about it. My wife is not looking for fame. The fame I have is already enough.”
The insider further revealed that D’banj’s car, a black Seqoiua jeep — with regular plate numbers — brought Didi home on Saturday night after the secret wedding and she seemed visibly excited.

Must Read! Jose Mourinho's First Press Conference as Manchester United Manager
Jose Mourinho, new Manchester United manager, addressed the press.
Read full transcript below:
Are you the Special One, the Happy One or something else?
"I don’t know, really. The other two times, I was arriving at the country, this is a different one. I was sacked by Chelsea and then I stayed in the same country, the same competition with the same faces in front of me so it is nothing new for me really it is just to arrive into a club which is difficult to describe, to find the right words to describe this club.
"I don’t like denomination people use like dream job, it is not a dream job, it is reality as MU manager but the reality is I think it is a job everyone wants and not many have a chance to have and I have it and I know obviously the responsibility, the expectation.
"At the same time I know the legacy, the history of this club, I know what the fans expect from me and I expect this challenge doesn’t make me nervous because my history in the last 10 years or more was always to leave with big clubs; expectation and I think it comes in the right moment of my career, I feel very prepared. Very stable and with a great motivation.
"I am where I want to me in this club, in this country, in the domestic cups, I feel a bit frustrated I am not playing Champions League. I don’t hide I chase Sir Alex’s record in the Champions League for matches as a manager I am around 130 matches.
Hopefully it is only one season I am not there. When I say we obviously the club is more important than myself, Manchester United is more important than myself and we have to make sure July 2017 this club is where it has to be in the Champions League."
Realistic aim this season? Compete or win?
"Depends on the way you want to face it. I was never very good playing with the words or hiding behind words and hiding behind philosophies. I never tried to be good at that.
"I was always much more aggressive in my approach with the risks that can bring and it would be easy and even honest and pragmatic to focus on the last three years on the fact that we don’t qualify for Champions League and so on and so on and be quite pragmatic to say let’s work and try and be back to the Champions League, try and be back to the top four, try and be back to the Europa League.
"I prefer to be more aggressive and say we want to win and I can anticipate any one of you will come later with a question about style of play and a question about what is before and I can imagine one of these questions is around the corner and I can anticipate by saying you can win a short competition, a couple of matches without playing well but you cannot win competitions without playing well.
"What is playing well? It is scoring more goals than the opponents, conceding less, making your fans proud because you give everything and you win. It is everything at the same time.
"It is an aggressive approach by myself. I want everything. Of course we are not going to get everything but we want to."
Do you have a point to prove after last season?
"There are some managers that the last time they won a title was 10 years ago. Some of them the last time they won a title was never. The last time I won a title was one year ago, not 10 years ago or 15 years ago so if I have a lot to prove, imagine the others.
"But the reality is that was never important for me. I play against myself. That is my feeling many times. I feel I have to prove not to the others but to myself. I would never be able to work without success. That is my nature and I have always to find the reasons why I have always many questions towards myself and the people working with me.
"That is my nature. I could approach this job in a defensive point of view by saying the last three years the best we did was fourth. I can’t go. It is my nature. I work in some big clubs before.
"Obviously Manchester United by the social point of view is a completely different dimension but the reality is that when people has year after year a certain kind of menu, the menu has to change for better or worse.
"Manchester United for many years success was just routine and in this moment the last three years are to forget. I want the players to forget. I don’t want the players to think we have to do better and finish fourth. Finish fourth is not the aim.
"This is what I do with myself. I am 53, I am not 63 or 73. Maybe you are tired with myself because I started at such a young level. I am a young manager. If I don’t go for big ??? I am in trouble. The reality I was in trouble for the last five months."
Are more changes needed?
"I don’t know. I think the third player is official or not yet? So the third player will be official, when? Soon. I can try to make you understand the profile. We made a nucleus of four priorities, four positions to give a certain balance to the squad, to give a certain push in terms of quality and the qualities I need and want.
"Especially the ones with more vision. I am more a manager that likes specialists and not so much the multi-functional players because I am very clear in my approach. Multi-functional players are like one or two, when you are in trouble you need someone who can fill but basically I want specialists.
"We decided four targets. From these four, we have three and until we don’t have the fourth, we are still working hard, myself, the structure, Mr Woodward, the owners, we are working hard. When we have the fourth. I breathe and then the market will be open.
"We are not going to get the fourth on the 31st of August, we will get the fourth before then. There is something for me, that the players I keep are all happy. Imagine first match I don’t select somebody, he gets disappointed he has the chance to go to another club. If he leaves, somebody else has to come in.
"There is a fundamental market and there is a supplementary market. We are doing well. We are getting the players we want and now we have the third."
How excited are you at the challenge of facing Pep Guardiola again – this time in the same city?
"I think Leicester’s legacy was not just the happiness around the country. The legacy was we are in a competition where 20 teams are fighting for the title. That is their legacy. Next season if you have another team who win the first five matches, you consider them candidates. It is over the time you say they will collapse in December.
"To speak about one manager, one club, one enemy, I hate the word in football and life, I don’t think it is right. It is one thing to be a in a two-horse race like I was in Spain or in Italy it was three teams fighting for the title, then that kind of approach makes sense.
"In the Premier League it doesn’t make sense at all. If you focus on one opponent, the others will be laughing so I am not going to be part of it. I am Manchester United manager with all the respect to all the other clubs in the country especially one that was my house for seven years.
"I share so many special moments with their fans. I am the manager of the biggest club in the UK. I am going to focus on our job and our club. Thanks to what Leicester did. One of their legacies is to change forever the competition."
You have a reputation for not promoting young players. Is that fair?
"I have no time to answer it. To answer it would take 10 minutes. I knew that was coming. You know how many young players I promote to the first team from academies? 49? Do you want to know who they are? I can give you that. I promote 49 players from the academies from the clubs and with two factors, sometimes you promote players because you don’t have another chance because you have so many injuries.
"That is one factor and the second factor is when you are not playing for big targets, it is easier to bring them up. My record of injuries is very very low. Even in many years from the CL studies about every team, my teams were many times the teams with less injuries.
"I never promote players because of need I did it because of conviction and decision. Last year was the only season of my career when I was not fighting for the title winning or finishing second or third once so it was never a situation of stability and no pressure to promote players. I did 49.
"Some of them are big names, they are today Champions League winners in the Euros, playing for national teams and 49 is a lot.
"So one lie repeated many times sometimes it looks true but it will never be true. 49. If you want the names, I give you the names."
Why did you let Ryan Giggs leave?
"About Ryan, let me finish. I never run away about my responsibility. It is not my responsibility that Ryan is not in the club. The job Ryan wanted is the job the club decided to give me. Ryan wanted to be Manchester United manager and the owners, Mr Woodward decided to give the job to me.
"Like 2000, I decide I want to be a manager. For many of us, we start as assistant coaches and for many of us, arrives the moment we make a decision. So when you are speaking about did I offer him a job. He could be what he wanted in the club. The club wanted to give him any important job in the club.
"Happened with myself in Barcelona in 2000, I had a contract for another two years. It was not easy to go to another fight. For Ryan it is not easy to go the step from assistant to manager, it is the step to leave his house of 29.
"He was brave, he is honest, so good luck so if one day he wants to come back when I am here, I will never say so and if one day the club offers him the chance to be manager, I think it will something natural and the consequence of his success in his career."
Any advice from Sir Alex Ferguson?
“Yes - bring the umbrella. Yesterday I couldn’t believe it was raining in the training ground. It was great advice. The second advice was to bring my typical bottle of wine. Now we are going to have many occasions to be together.
"At the moment Sir Alex is on a bit of a holiday at the Euros so I cannot see him this week but when his holidays are finished we will have lots of time to meet. He will always be welcome to the training ground and we will have a lot of time to share our personal stuff.
"His opinion is important to me, the same way so many legends love this club and they are in the pundits industry and every opinion will be important to me. I will try and learn from them."
How do you envisage playing Wayne Rooney?
“In football there are many jobs. There are many jobs on the field. The one that is more difficult to find is the guy who has put the ball on the net. The players change during the years their qualities, their characteristics.
"It is normal a player at their age change a bit but there is something that will never change which is the natural appetite to put the ball in the net.
"Maybe he is not a striker, not a No. 9 any more but for me he will never be a No. 6, playing 50 metres from the goal. You can tell me his pass is amazing but my pass is also amazing without pressure.
"To be there and put the ball in the net is the most difficult thing. For me he will be a 9, a 10, a nine and a half but never a 6 or an 8.”

Open Heavens 6 July 2016: Wednesday daily devotional by Pastor E. A. Adeboye – The Blameless Vessel
Topic: The Blameless Vessel [Wednesday 6, July 2016]
Memorise: Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD. – Isaiah 52:11
Read: 1 Timothy 3:1-7 (KJV)
1 This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
3 Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;
4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
7 Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
Bible in One Year: Acts 27-28, Song of Solomon 8:8-14
MESSAGE:
One thing that anyone who wants to be used by God should bear in mind is the need to be blameless. This is the prerequisite for a child of God who wants to serve God at any level. The Bible says in 1 Timothy 3:1-2a:
“This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. A Bishop then must be blameless….”
Being blameless has two advantages: Firstly, it saves the vessel the calamity of being destroyed by the User, the Almighty God. When a person volunteers to serve the Lord, it is dangerous for the fellow to be unclean, because the holiness of God destroys unclean vessels, just like electric current without insulation. There is a measure of holiness that God Himself bestowed upon man through obedience to His Word, which qualifies man to serve Him. The Bible says concerning Isaiah, how he admitted his sinful state, then God purified and cleansed him of his iniquity to qualify as a true prophet (Isaiah 6:5). Then, the angel of the Lord came and touched him with fire from Heaven and he was purged of his iniquity. Here, we see the mercy of God upon the vessel that He decided to use for His glory. There is a lesson we must learn from this scripture: the prophet admitted his sinful state and God came to his aid for cleansing. How wonderful would it be if those who profess to be children and ministers of God will be homely with the verdict of God concerning the Adamic nature of man and surrender to His holiness for mercy?
The second advantage of a blameless vessel is that his life glorifies the Almighty God. God is honoured in his life and He shows-off the fellow, then ultimately prospers and protects him eternally.
“And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?” - Job 1:8
Through Job suffered many trials, but just as the Bible says, his end was better than his beginning;
“So the Lord blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning….” - Job 42:12
Action Point: Father, I want to be blameless, please help me to live a life of obedience to Your Word and let Your Name be glorified in my life.

Kwam 1 advises Rich people that they should spend their money
Here is he wrote! "Honestly we need to discuss this, why people use the word "OLOWO LOMA KUUREE". When I was a young man in my 20s, many things people just seeing me do today I have been doing.. like travelling abroad on FIRST CLASS or PRIORITY CLASS.. One thing I never liked in my life is, why I should have to wait until some class of people get out of an aircraft that took all of us to the same destinations... They would say "OLOWO LOMA KUUREE"
"When we used to travel those days in the past to places like London, Rome, Italy, France & Madrid in Spain... Very serious people studying HARD goes to Germany or USSR Soviet Union then but now Russia... Hmmmmm Oju tin laasiii. AMERICA is ORUN Kalo -Kabo..
Gone were the days my people...
I remember vividly one of my Holiday Trip to london England, I was to stay in my friends house then on Queensbridge Road London S.E ...Late Gabisiyu Alani Aderemi, may God forgive his soul, UK Immigration follow me to his house that evening to know whose Address I was trying to describe for them... That evening I felt proud when Alani came out with his wife then, my darling sister Hadja Basirat Abimbola Dada to say they were my host on that trip.. Why because, how come a man flying on First Class could not properly describe where he was going.. Honestly "OLOWO LOMA KUUREE"
But the truth of it is that, many has that money but either refused to spend it for a best reasons known to them or just out of "STINGYNESS"

Looking On the recruitment of 500,000 teachers
Written by the Editorial board of The Guardian Newspaper
The commencement of recruitment of 500,000 teachers by the Buhari administration is a commendable step towards raising trained and competent teachers for the nation’s school system. Unlike the crash programme of days gone by through which trained teachers were produced, the present scheme is more encompassing and likely to impact positively on the nation’s education system.
The programme resembles the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme, which provides opportunity for tertiary institution graduates to serve the nation for one year. Given that raising teachers is at the centre of this programme, graduates with teaching qualifications should be given preference.
Coming at a time graduate unemployment has reached an alarming level, the scheme, if properly implemented, would provide relief to thousands of young graduates caught up in the unemployment mess. On that ground, the programme, tagged N-Power Teachers Corps, and part of the social support programme of the Buhari administration, should be supported in the national interest. President Muhammadu Buhari had promised during his 2015 campaign to provide social support to 25 million unemployed and vulnerable Nigerians and a sum of N500 billion provision was made in the 2016 national budget for this purpose.
The recruitment of the teachers is one of the three direct job creation and training schemes of the government. The others are N-Power Knowledge, which will train 25,000 Nigerians in technology and N-Power Build, which will train another 75,000 in building services, construction, utilities, hospitality and catering, and so on.
That gives a total of 600,000 beneficiaries out of the target 25 million. Some 35 million applicants have, however, reportedly hit the recruitment portal in a classic demonstration of how bad the unemployment situation is.
In a dysfunctional system like Nigeria’s without a database, therefore, there is an urgent need for the government to ensure that people who are registered in the scheme are those genuinely deserving of it.
The paid volunteer programme is for a two-year duration. All volunteers would be paid a stipend of N23, 000 monthly besides getting computer devices with information necessary for their specific assignments.
The scheme’s beneficiaries are expected to conduct teaching, instructional and advisory roles in primary and secondary schools. They would also service agricultural extension systems, public health and community education covering civic and adult education. The N-Power Teacher Corps is not designed to be a permanent employment scheme but merely an intervention that affords unemployed graduates the opportunity to acquire teaching skills needed in schools.
Nevertheless, the scheme has the capacity to instill confidence in the trainees and the training should be more useful than the stipend. There should, however, be an established way of implementing this programme. Since the scheme is not offering permanent employment to the participants, it is important to define what it is meant to achieve in the long run. Granted that those engaged may have the feeling of economic fulfillment, however temporary, what happens thereafter should be of major concern to the government.
More importantly, the Buhari administration has barely three years left in its first term, meaning that the programme can conveniently run out of steam in the government’s first outing. The critical worry now should be: can it be sustained beyond this term? These concerns need to be addressed in order to have a purpose-driven programme and one that etches the Buhari/Osinbajo administration in the hearts of Nigerians.
It would be meaningless to train 500,000 teachers without adequate arrangement for how to actually engage them in federal and state schools at the end of their training. Such open-ended schemes in place like National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) already throw graduates out after the service year and or skill acquisition period.
It may also be good to incorporate this new programme into the one-year NYSC. The three-week orientation period can be used to teach communication skills to the corps members before they are deployed to schools.
The Federal Government and the states should collaborate in order to work out a suitable framework for absorbing the trainees into the school system. Without such collaboration and arrangement, the scheme would be un-sustainable and its aim may be defeated.

Open Heavens 5 July 2016: Tuesday daily devotional by Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Power in the Holy Ghost
Topic: Power in the Holy Ghost [Tuesday 5, July 2016]
Memorise: But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. – Acts 1:8
Read: Acts 4:31-33 (KJV)
31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.
33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.
Bible in One Year: Acts 24:22-26:32, Song of Solomon 7:11-8:7
MESSAGE:
The only genuine source of power for children of God is the Holy Ghost. Any other means is not only a counterfeit but also counterproductive. When Jesus Christ was going to be with His Father, He told His disciples that they should stay back in Jerusalem until the promise of the Father came, only then would they have the power to go out and do the assignment that He had earlier given to them. It is unfortunate that many so-called children of God are gambling with their lives by engaging in the work of the ministry without adequate spiritual preparation.
“31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness. 33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. ” - Acts 4:31, 33
There are lots of blessings which accrue from receiving the power of the Holy Ghost. For example, the Bible says we do not know how to pray but the Holy Spirit helps our inadequacy and with great groaning, the Holy Spirit intercedes for us (Romans 8:26). In other words, when we are empowered by the Holy Spirit, prayer will not be a difficult task for us. When we are endued with the power of the Holy Ghost, we become unstoppable by our detractors and their threats will not have any effect on our lives. The disciples of old, after they had been threatened by the Jewish leaders in Acts chapter 4, prayed in the Holy Ghost and became so bold that they preached the Word of God in the streets without fear.
“In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,” - Ephesians 1:13
To be endued in the Holy Spirit, however, your salvation must be genuine. Without genuine salvation, you are prone to have a counterfeit Holy Spirit baptism and in turn, counterfeit power which will lead to a vexation of your spirit. This will not be your portion in Jesus’ name. Then, you must live holy and make up your mind to become obedient to the Word of God. You must abstain from whatever will grieve the Holy Spirit.
“And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.” - Ephesians 4:30
You grieve the Holy Spirit when you blaspheme Him or touch unclean things. You must be separated unto God (2 Corinthians 6:14-18). I pray that the power of the Holy Spirit will come upon a reader of this devotional today in Jesus’ name.
Action Point: Father, send your promise of the Holy Spirit to me afresh today and don’t let me grieve Him as He comes upon me in Jesus’ Name.

Open Heavens 4 July 2016: Monday daily devotional by Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Prayer of Decrees
Topic: Prayer of Decrees [Monday 4, July 2016]
Memorise: For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. – Mark 11:23
Read: Zechariah 4:6-9 (KJV)
6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.
7 Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it.
8 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
9 The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you.
Bible in One Year: Acts 22:22-24:21, Song of Solomon 6:10-7:10
MESSAGE:
Prayers are of different types and they are also in categories. Today, we shall discuss the prayer of decrees. There is a level you get to in spiritual warfare that prayers of supplication or intercession may prove inadequate. Our Lord Jesus Christ in our memory verse for today assures us that whatever we command shall obey us. In Mark 11:24 He said:
“Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”
A prayer of decree is a prayer that creates; it does not take “No” for an answer. At times, such prayers do not sound like prayers; yet they are prayers that come in the form of prophecy. More often, only those in an intimate walk with God engage effectively in prayers of decrees. The Bible says;
“Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me.” - Isaiah 45:11
A classic example of a prayer of decree is found in Ezekiel chapter 37. The prophet was moved by the Spirit of the Living God to prophesy to dry bones in a valley. He Prophesied in the Name of the Lord and there was a miracle of restoration of life. I decree that every mountain threatening the fullness of your joy is removed now in Jesus’ name. According to our memory verse, when we tell a mountain to be removed, and be cast into the sea, it shall come to pass. A couple trusting God for the fruit of the womb came to me years ago for prayers, and after they had the assurance that their prayers had been answered, an argument ensued on whether the expected baby should be a boy or a girl. So, I intervened by decreeing that in order to settle the argument permanently, the expected miracle babies should come as a set of twins, a boy and a girl. They keyed into this prayer of decree and as the Almighty would have it, in nine months time; the couple had twins – a boy and a girl. I decree to someone using this devotional; your expected miracle shall come this season in Jesus’ name.
“Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.” - John 15:16
For us to effectively engage in prayers of decree, we must live in holiness and perfect obedience to the Word of God. Jesus Christ said:
“If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” - John 15:7
Prayer Point: My Father in Heaven, I decree according to your Word, every mountain threatening my destiny is removed now in Jesus’ name.

Shocking! Military medical doctor sacked for having sex with a colleague's wife who came for consultation
For having sex with his colleague's wife, a Nigerian military doctor, identified as Lieutenant Musa Mustapha Bature has been sacked by the Nigerian Army court-martial.
Known for his notorious sex life, 38 year old Lieutenant Bature from Kebbi state, reportedly took advantage of one of his colleague's wife who came to him for consultation.
While in his office, he sexually stimulated the newly married woman and then had sex with her. He asked her to come to his house in the evening to collect an ointment for her ailment and then had sex with her again.
The woman, out of guilt, reported the matter to the barrack's chaplain who forwarded her complaint to his superiors.
At the Army court-martial on Wednesday, June 29th, Bature was found guilty on a two count charge of illicit sexual relationship and unprofessional conduct.
He confessed to the crime at the court marshal. His fate would be finally decided by a military council, which statutorily ratifies such sentences. Among the punishment prescribed for such offences includes jail term and dismissal from service with dishonour.

Open Heavens 3 July 2016: Sunday daily devotional by Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Guilty of Injustice?
Topic: Guilty of Injustice? [Sunday 3, July 2016]
Memorise: Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you. – James 5:6
Read: Amos 8:4-10 (KJV)
4 Hear this, O ye that swallow up the needy, even to make the poor of the land to fail,
5 Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?
6 That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes; yea, and sell the refuse of the wheat?
7 The LORD hath sworn by the excellency of Jacob, Surely I will never forget any of their works.
8 Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwelleth therein? and it shall rise up wholly as a flood; and it shall be cast out and drowned, as by the flood of Egypt.
9 And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day:
10 And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning of an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day.
Bible in One Year: Acts 20:17-22:21, Song of Solomon 5:10-6:9
MESSAGE:
Injustice has been in existence with mankind since the fall. The unfortunate thing is that God hates injustice because He is the God of justice and equity. In our Bible reading for today and in several others verses of the Bible, we see that God vehemently abhors injustice. This injustice is all-inclusive, because it is found among traders through false measure, the employers of labours who do not pay the correct wages or delay it unnecessarily and the employees who cheat on their employers by not putting up their best for the wages they earn. James 5:4 says:
“Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.”
It is injustice when an employer keeps the wages of the labourers unpaid or holds back some of the wages meant for the workers. God says He will not take it lightly with whoever is guilty of this act. In the same vein, when an employee uses the time meant for his employer to do something else, it is injustice. This is why many employees do not have anything tangible to show for the wages they earn. When a man works for fifteen days put together in a month and he is given a salary of thirty days worth, at the end of the month, the value of what he will use the money for will not be more than his actual wage for fifteen days. Many traders are fond of using false measures to sell their merchandise. Only ignorance makes people indulge in such practices, because the God of justice will always bring judgement upon such businesses.
“35 Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment, in meteyard, in weight, or in measure. 36 Just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin, shall ye have: I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt.” - Leviticus 19:35-36
The consequence of the above injustice is written in our text for today:
“7 The LORD hath sworn by the excellency of Jacob, Surely I will never forget any of their works 10 And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning of an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day.” - Amos 8:7, 10
Beloved, beware of injustice of any kind so that you are not found guilty of practicing that which the Lord hates. The Bible says:
“Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a false balance is not good.” - Proverbs 20:23
Action Point: Examine your life; if you are in any way indulging in injustice, repent today and restitute your ways.
