ASUU Lists The Many Sins of LASU VC

The Academic Staff Union of Universities(ASUU) has listed the many offenses committed by Lagos State University's Vice Chancellor, Prof John Obafunwa, saying the institution is on the brink of another crisis as a result of the confusion and distrust allegedly being created by him.

According to ASUU’s Coordinator of Akure Zone, and Chairman of ASUU at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Dr. Alex Odiyi, "the university’s administration has once again embarked on creating an atmosphere of anarchy, violating laws, disrupting and desecrating the academic culture for which the university is known.

According to her, despite the challenges and oppositions facing the Jonathan administration, he has done quite very well. “He has met the 35 per cent Affirmative Action for the appointment of women into political positions in the country, she stated.

Officials of the Lagos Internal Revenue Service, LIRS, have shut down Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s Infinity Television station for owing the state government several millions of naira.

Infinity TV, located on 16, Moyibat Oyefusi Street, Omole Phase 1, is a Direct To Home, DTH cable TV incorporated in 2009 by the Pastor Chris. It is also said that the management of the Tv station, are owing their workers up to 10 months salaries. The station was shut down on the 23^rd of December, 2014.

South Africa’s President Jacob Zuma has hinted he may be ready to take a fifth wife to accompany him through old age, the daily newspaper The Star said Wednesday.

Wonder in all sphere of life! As a court in Mauritania has sentenced 28 year old journalist Mohamed Cheikh Ould Mkhaitir to death for apostasy for criticizing Prophet Muhammed. According to Reuters, the journalist was sentenced by a court in the northwestern city of Nouadhibou for an article he published almost a year ago, questioning some of the decisions Prophet Mohammed took during holy wars.

Some folks saw the article which he posted online and appeared on a number of websites and called for his arrest. He was arrested on January 2nd 2014 after the article sparked street protests and has been in custody ever since. When he appeared in court, he pleaded not guilty, telling the court that it was 'not his intention to harm the prophet' but he was still found guilty and sentenced to death under Sharia law. The prosecutors recommended that he be shot to death.

President Goodluck Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday warned politicians who he said were planting seeds of discord with their utterances that their actions were capable of consuming them.

Jonathan, at a Christmas service held under tight security at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, Maitama, Abuja, added that such politicians were embarrassing those who meant well for the country.

He also took a swipe at former office holders who he said had formed the habit of abusing the incumbents and pointed out that those who seized power by force never ended well.

He said, “If politicians want to take over power at any level of government, they need not sow seed of discord because it will consume them.

“I believe that people who mean well for this country will never be happy with provocative utterances by some politicians.

Man drives into pedestrians, hurts eight

AN elderly Chinese man has driven his car through a crowd of pedestrians outside a popular Beijing sports stadium, injuring eight people in what appears to be a protest against an unfavourable court ruling.
THE Beijing man, with the surname of Jin, recently lost a property dispute in court, according to a statement from Beijing police.
The Beijing Times website said the man's car had the word "injustice" painted on it as it drove through the crowd on Friday morning. The man was wearing a piece of fabric on his head bearing the same word. His car finally stopped after slamming into other vehicles at the south gate of Workers' Stadium. Such attacks on schoolchildren, pedestrians and other innocent bystanders have become regular occurrences in China, as people vent their frustrations over legal disputes, slights and other perceived injustices.

NOBEL laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, yesterday, gave a rebuttal to former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s latest book, My Watch describing it as a narrative by a career liar always determined to crookedly project himself above his true standing among men.
Affirming his general detestation of such men, Soyinka said the Obasanjo brand was compounded by the inclination of even foisting the lies on members of the younger generation.
Obasanjo had in his book flayed Soyinka as a self serving critic who he said always sought to shine out among men claiming that the Nobel Laureate is a “misfit as a political analyst, commentator or critic.”
He had written “For Wole, no one can be good, nor can anything be spot-on politically except that which emanates from him or is ordained by him.”
