He asked them to talk about the people who were rescued/survived and not focus on the people who died.

TB Joshua Allegedly Offering Journalists N50,000 following building collaspe

Following last Friday’s tragic collapse of a building inside the Synagogue Church of God premises which killed 80 people, an audio tape has emerged and in it you can hear someone who sounds a whole lot like the leader of SCOAN Prophet TB Joshua offering N50,000 each to journalists who were invited to the church for a press briefing.
The N50,000 apparently was money for the journalists to “buy fuel in their cars”. On the tape after telling the journalists about the envelopes each stuffed with N50,000 cash bribe “fuel money”, you can also allegedly hear Prophet TB Joshua saying “I would be very happy if you can help me go & correct some of the things that is inside the paper”.
Following the tragic building collapse it was reported that followers of TB Joshua attacked journalists who tried to cover the collapse. Some journalists were reportedly beaten up for trying to take pictures while others got their cameras smashed.

According to TMZ, Keyshia was arrested yesterday around 5am after gaining access to Birdman’s West L.A. condo and finding him there with another woman who had spent the night with him.
“Our sources say for some reason security let her go up to Birdman’s penthouse and when she got in she saw another woman and went nuts. We’re told Keyshia attacked her leaving scratches all over her face. Cops were called and Keyshia was arrested for battery and an outstanding reckless driving warrant. Nigeria Is Now Ebola Free – Health Minister

The Nigerian Health Minister has told the Federal Executive Council that there is “no single case of Ebola” in the nation.
Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu gave the positive report while briefing reporters on the Ebola Virus Disease outbreak containment at the end of the Federal Executive Council Meeting presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday.
According to him, the suspected case from Ife has been declared Ebola free while the south African woman, who was also quarantined, had no case of Ebola and has been moved to her country.
The Minister also said that in all, the total number of contacts was 363.
Of this number, four are in Lagos while the rest are in Rivers State.
He said that the total number of cases discharged from surveillance since the importation of the disease into Nigeria was 517 monitored without any problems.
Since the outbreak of the Ebola Virus Disease in West Africa in March, over 2,400 deaths have been recorded.

Calling Someone Fat Makes Them Eat More And Less Interested In Losing Weight

Experts say that being criticised for their weight drives those who are already sensitive about it to comfort eat. Fear of ridicule may also mean they avoid exercise. Researchers from University College London said  public health campaigns should also avoid making people feel bad about their weight.
Lead author Sarah Jackson advises medics to avoid using the word ‘fat’ where possible and replace it with the terms overweight or obese.
The study, published in the journal Obesity, found that those who were victims of ‘fat shaming’ put on just over 2lb on average over the course of the study. They were also six times as likely to become obese.
In contrast, those who were not criticised for their weight actually became slimmer, albeit by a small amount. Dr Jackson says;

Kebbi Governor Dakingari Slaps ADC for Preventing Stranger From Touching

In a clear show of power, Kebbi State Governor Saidu Nasamu Dakingari gave his Aid De Camp, Mohammed Umar, executive slap recently for preventing a stranger from touching him, Sahara Reporter says.

According to sources the assault took place at the Ahmadu Bello International Airport in the state capital, Birnin-Kebbi, at a ceremony marking the airlift of pilgrims.

Dakingari’s ADC had prevented a total stranger, who was attempting to pull at the governor’s clothes.

Instead of commending his ADC for protecting him, the governor allegedly slapped him, accusing him of over-zealousness in preventing a stranger from meeting him.

Those present during the drama also accused the Inspector General of Police in Abuja of failing to intervene and demand an apology and restitution for the assaulted officer.

Man commits suicide in Ekiti state after two failed attempts

After two failed attempts to kill himself in the last three years, a man said to be in his 30s named Mundiu (pictured above) finally succeeded in killing himself yesterday September 19th.
According to Sun News, Mundiu killed himself in the hall way of his compound in Ayede-Ekiti community in Oye local government of Ekiti state around in the early hours of yesterday morning.

UPDATE: What is Happening Now in TB Joshua’s Church

After the ever bubbling Synagogue Church was dramatically thrown into a simmering confusion as a result of the collapse of the Church’s foreign guest house building where more than 80 people have been reportedly killed, people from far and near have continued to throng the place to see the extent of the damage.
While some were there to find their friends and loved ones who either are members of the church or workers in the vineyard of God, others have come to show solidarity to the man of God.
As some foreigners were seen waiving their country’s flags in solidarity for the founder of the church, Pastor TB Joshua, a middle aged woman made a desperate dash from one corner to another in search of her son trapped in the collapsed hostel building on Wednesday.
She mumbled just a few words in prayer: ‘God forbid he was there’, as the tractor pulled out some debris laced with human clothes. Fears, tension was in the air as wailing and shout of ‘Jesus’ took over the area. Security operatives had a hectic time controlling the surging crowd just as rescue work continue day and night.
However, the last may not have been heard about the
Figures of bodies recovered from the debris of the building. Before press time, Vanguard gathered that over 30 Church workers who were cleaners and house keepers were still trapped in the building. These workers were said to have gone into the building early on Friday morning to carry out their daily duties and since have not been found.
We gathered that some friends and relatives of the hostel workers who saw them before the incidence had called their telephones lines but without success.
Some of them were seen with their hands folded to their chest even as they combated the stench that oozed out of the rubble.

Why Synagogue Raised Collapsed Building

The quest to corner a larger percentage of visitors to the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) has been identified as the reason for raising the collapsed building to six storeys, The Nation has learnt.

The collapsed building, it was gathered, was a two-storey building that had been completed and roofed before it was raised to six storeys.

Aside the collapsed building, additional floors were still being added to the main church building at the time the incident occurred. The additional floors, it was learnt, were meant to serve as guest house for the exploding number of visitors to the church.

Homosexual-Friendly Mosque Opens Quietly in South Africa

In an interesting contrast to the current spates of violence perpetuated by Islamic insurgents around the world, a new mosque has opened quietly in Cape Town, South Africa. This mosque is welcoming everyone: homosexuals, women and Christians will be given as fair a treatment as the average Muslim man.

The mosque was launched by Taj Hargey, a Muslim academic. The first Prayers on Friday drew more media attention that worshipers or protesters.

Hargey has described his mosque as a “religious revolution” following on from the political revolution led by late former president Nelson Mandela when democracy replaced apartheid rule in South Africa in 1994.

As revolutions go, this was a quiet one.

In his sermon Hargey condemned the increasing hatred in the world between Muslims and Christians.

He blamed this on “warped theology” from countries such as Saudi Arabia and Pakistan which he said gave rise to “fanatical” groups like the Islamic State organisation, the Taliban in Afghanistan and Boko Haram in Nigeria.

He said “contaminated Saudi money” was used to promote “toxic and intolerant manifestations of Islam”.

What does it mean to be happy?

The answer to this question once seemed obvious to me. To be happy is to be satisfied with your life. If you want to find out how happy someone is, you ask him a question like, “Taking all things together, how satisfied are you with your life as a whole?”

Are you satisfied with your life? How are you feeling? Does either question tell us what we really want to know?

Over the past 30 years or so, as the field of happiness studies has emerged from social psychology, economics and other disciplines, many researchers have had the same thought. Indeed this “life satisfaction” view of happiness lies behind most of the happiness studies you’ve read about. Happiness embodies your judgment about your life, and what matters for your happiness is something for you to decide.

This is an appealing view. But I have come to believe that it is probably wrong. Or at least, it can’t do justice to our everyday concerns about happiness.

Man hangs himself live on Skype while online spectators watched

26 year old Russian man Serger Kirilov (pictured above) wanted to commit suicide and so he went on Skype and announced that he planned to commit suicide and said anyone who wanted to see it could link to him on Skype.
Shockingly, many people linked up to him and watched him hang himself without trying to stop him. One spectator even allegedly said ‘a real man would have killed himself more quickly.’ Another spectator said ‘If a man says he’s going to do something, he needs to do it.’ Only one person tried to stop him.
Russian police are now trying to trace all the people who watched the suicide through their internet service providers. A Russian police spokesman said ‘It is beyond belief that people could watch this as a form of entertainment. We will be investigating everyone who watched this incident, especially those who urged him to carry it out who may be guilty of negligent homicide
