CBN restricts dollar sale to save naira
The Central Bank of Nigeria has
stopped the sale of dollars to some categories of importers at its
twice-weekly regulated foreign exchange market in order to save the
naira from falling.
The move is meant to also reduce the
pressure on the naira amid falling oil prices and perceived
dollarisation of the economy, according to industry analysts.

Police Authority arrest another Lagos DPO for raping a woman in his office
Another day another drama as the Lagos State Police Command has
arrested a Divisional Police Officer, Mr. Oladipo Afolayan, for
allegedly raping a woman in his office.
The development comes a few months
after another Lagos DPO, Mr. Adekunle Awe, was arrested for allegedly
raping a woman, Idowu Akinwunmi, in his office at the Onikan Police
Division.
PUNCH Metro learnt that
Afolayan, who is a Superintendent of Police, had only been recently
posted to the Magodo Police Post when the incident allegedly occurred.
It was learnt that the woman he allegedly raped was a suspect in an ongoing investigation.
It was gathered that following a
report by the victim, Afolayan was arrested and brought before the
Commissioner of Police, Cornelius Aderanti.

Wednesday, November 5, 2014, the Federal Government is asking the
Court to first determine the status of Tambuwal who voluntarily vacated
his membership seat
of the House of Representatives. They are asking the Court to
determine if indeed Tambuwal was still a member of the House and if
vacated his membership seat, he could still be talking of being the
Speaker. They also argue that this is a case that should be determined
on its merits and not by interlocutory injunction on reliefs that are
essentially the substance of the case.

The man, Joshua Ekeocha, 31, pictured above was arrested by operatives of the Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan, Lagos.
After his arrest and investigation, the police
charged him before a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court on a three-count charge
of conspiracy to commit felony, to wit, stealing.
The police prosecutor, Supol Chidi Okoye, told
the court that Ekeocha and others still at large committed the offence
on 22 and 27 May, 2014.
