Last week, Lai Mohammed, the infamous minister of information (if you can call what he does as dishing out information) denied being a liar and rhetorically asked newsmen interviewing him to “give me one thing that I have said which is not true”.
When I read that, I thought that perhaps he had repented from his demonic pastime of lying. But it appears I spoke too soon and I was too hopeful!
I say this because just days after justifying himself and in response to the US congress citing Nigeria as “the most dangerous place for Christians in the world”,
Lai Mohammed had the following to say: “Such fallacies like the Islamisation of Nigeria, the killing of Christians by Muslims, the labelling of Nigeria as the most dangerous place for Christians in the world.”
I do not know about the Islamisation of Nigeria and I doubt that President Muhammadu Buhari has such intentions, but to say that “the killing of Christians by Muslims” is a ‘fallacy’ is a special kind of a lie that could only have proceeded from the lips of a man whose own parents saw the perfidious destiny ahead of him and chose to name their child Lai accordingly!
I know for a fact that thousands of Christians have been killed by Muslims since President Muhammadu Buhari came to power including hundreds in Southern Kaduna (possibly thousands), even more hundreds in Agatu in Benue.
Although, the Agatu Community Elders said over 6,000 of their people have been killed), hundreds in Bali and Donga Local Government Areas of ,,, over a hundred killed in Enugu, hundreds in Delta, and multiple other deaths of Christians at the hands of Islamic extremists Fulani herdsmen.
This is besides the thousands of Christians killed by Boko Haram and Evangelist Bridget Agbahime beheaded in Kano (and whose suspected killers were discharged and acquitted on the instructions of the Kano State Attorney General) and Pastor Eunice Elisha killed in Kubwa after the morning ministration (whose killers were not surprisingly never charged).
Lai Mohammed has a very distinguished career in lying. I imagine that if he could find his way there, Lucifer will gladly give him an honorary PhD from the University of the Pit of Hell!
Elsewhere, I have detailed his lies but in this piece I want to inform my readers of a troubling pattern I am noticing which is that lying seems to be the default pattern of communication for not just Lai, but the ruling All Progressives Congress, its members and sympathisers. I will prove it.
Two years ago, Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka, a known APC surrogate LIED that former President Jonathan wanted to kill him. Today, hunger is killing Nigerians and Mbaka’s lying mouth is silent!
Again In 2013, Pastor Tunde Bakare, another known APC surrogate, accused Dr. Goodluck Jonathan of BELITTLING his office by kneeling down for Pastor Adeboye to pray for him. I often wonder if he thought King David belittled himself by kneeling down for Samuel to pray for and anoint him. Anyhow, today the same Pastor Tunde Bakare is quiet as President Muhammadu Buhari has belittled the Naira to the extent that $1 now exchanges for N500.
Two years ago, Reverend Father Mbaka preached a sermon against then President Goodluck Jonathan titled, ‘From Goodluck to Badluck’. As things unfold today, I hope he is proud of himself! In 2012, Tunde Bakare preached a sermon and said, “Up, up Jesus; down, down Jonathan.” I hope he is proud of himself today!
Let me tell them that the Goodluck Jonathan they preached against is now the toast of the world. He is more relaxed and at peace with himself. He is celebrated by world leaders and world institutions. I remind both of them that he whom God has blessed, no Mbaka or Bakare can curse – Numbers 23:8.
And then just this week, the notoriously lousy minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi told Nigerians to wait until 2019 before judging the APC.
Said Amaechi, “We did not promise you that those challenges will be solved in one year or you would have given us a one-year mandate. But you gave us a four-year mandate, so wait till the end of four years before you can conclude that we have not done well.”
Amaechi must think all Nigerians suffer from Attention Deficit Disorder like him. We have not forgotten that a member of the Board of Trustees of the All Progressives Congress, an honorable man, a honest man and a trustworthy man in the person of former information minister (it is sad that he has to share that title with someone like Lai Mohammed), Chief Tony Momoh said and I quote: “Stone us if within two years the current government fails to reverse the situation.”
So, no Amaechi. We are not going to wait for 2019. The APC has been two years in the saddle and not only has the APC failed, it has made things worse!
To put things in perspective, Nigerians cannot name even one promise that the APC-led federal government has kept. Not even one.
You may say to me that, at this stage former President Jonathan had not kept his promise and I will respond that you are wrong. By his first 100 days in office, then President Jonathan had achieved a lot including the following which is not even exhaustive: Nigeria’s oil industry expanded by 20% and we reclaimed our position as Africa’s largest oil exporter which we had hitherto lost to Angola.
Recognised by OPEC in July as the 2nd largest oil exporter, 2nd only to Saudi Arabia. It was the first time Nigeria has recorded such a feat.
Inflation reduced to almost single digit (by the first anniversary, it was single digit) as the administration enforced tighter fiscal policies e.g. the cashless policy.
In June of 2011, the Consumer Price Index showed an inflation rate of 10.2% which dropped to 9.4% in July being the lowest rate in the preceding 4 years.
Foreign Reserves rose by 10% to $35 billion.
Nigeria’s GDP growth rate month over month continued to grow from 6.7% in May to 6.9% in July of 2011.
Nigeria declared top three investment destinations in Africa (number 2) by the Independent Africa Business Panel in the Netherlands.
Nigeria generated power at her highest level ever (4000mw) which was still far from enough but which would improve monthly (under Buhari it has reduced to below 3,000MWs)
Nigerian Railway Corporation commenced Mass Transit Services in 5 of 6 geo-political zones. Last zone came on stream by year end 2011.
With the establishment of the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority, then President Jonathan facilitated direct investments into infrastructure with priority areas being Power and Roads.
The Federal Government also awarded contracts for various road projects across the country whose impact were felt nationwide.
Launched NigeriaSat-2 and NigeriaSat-X Satellites to expand Internet Bandwidth and provide early warning to prevent natural disasters. Then President Jonathan introduced the policy of engaging the Private Sector on kerosene pricing and the price was reduced between May and September, 2011.
In Recognition of the sacrifices of NYSC members, then President Jonathan approved an upward review of their allowances from 9,700 to 19,800 Naira.
Implementation of Minimum Wage
Increase for Nigerian Workers to 18,900 Naira monthly. 35% Slot For Women in the cabinet. Deepened Security and expanding Peace in the Niger Delta.
Reduced kidnapping in the South-east with implementation of then President Jonathan’s order establishing the 14 Brigade of the army in Ohafia, Abia state.
Maritime Safety was ensured and stabilised in the last 100 days.
A stellar cabinet comprising former MDs of the World Bank & Goldman Sachs, Chairperson Accenture and multiple PHDs.
The National Automobile Council established an Automotive Development Fund to resuscitate the automobile industry and generate jobs.
Approval for genuine foreign investors to obtain visas at the point of entry to facilitate FDI investments.
Model Skills Training Centers in Abuja – collaboration between Industrial Training Fund & the Institute for Technical Education, Singapore.
Establishment of the Nigerian Vehicle Credit Purchase scheme.
All these and more were achieved by Jonathan within his first 100 days. In two years, President Buhari has not achieved half of these. By his first year, Jonathan had built 9 new federal universities in Katsina, Gombe, Nasarawa, Kogi, Taraba, Jigawa, Ekiti, Ebonyi and Bayelsa.
Before the end of his tenure he had built 3 additional federal universities (bringing the total built to 12) and 165 almajiri schools. By his first year, Jonathan had, according to the UN, increased Nigeria’s life expectancy from 47 years to 51.
He had, according to the US-based International Food Policy Research Institute, reduced hunger in Nigeria from 16.3 points to 15 points. Today hunger levels have risen in President Buhari’s Nigeria.
When Fulani herdsmen struck in Plateau State, President Jonathan did not waste time. In July of 2012, he sent soldiers to go and raid them and rout them from their hideouts in the bush. On the day the soldiers were going to the bush on July 15, 2012, this is what Nasir El rufai, the current governor of Kaduna State said in a tweet. Mind you, I am quoting word for word.
“We will write this for all to read. Anyone, soldier or not that kills the Fulani takes a loan repayable one day no matter how long it takes.”
Today, Fulani herdsmen are having a field day killing Nigerians in almost every state of the country. What has this government done?
Have they sent soldiers after them? Have they arrested them? In Enugu, pregnant women were hacked to death, a seminarian was killed.
Married women were raped and killed. In Southern Kaduna hundreds have been killed. Whole communities ravaged. In Agatu, hundreds have been killed, in Delta so many lives have been lost to Fulani herdsmen, yet during Christmas as herdsmen were killing our brothers and sisters in Southern Kaduna the government mounted up to 100 road blocks with soldiers and policemen all over the South-east and called it operation python dance. Where they were needed, they were not there! Where they were not needed, they were ‘dancing’!
This government claims to be fighting corruption. You and I know that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation was caught when his own company was awarded an overinflated contract to cut grass in the North-east and then, money was paid into his company’s account that he controlled as the signatory.
The same President that stormed the homes of Supreme Court justices in the wee hours of the morning. The same President that allowed DSS agents to storm apostle Suleiman’s hotel room in Ado Ekiti, turned to a letter writer and wrote to the Senate in a very clumsy effort to absolve the Secretary to the Government of the Federation using lies that he was not invited to defend himself.
Meanwhile, the Senate invited him and a director in the SGF’s office acknowledged receipt of the invitation.
Meanwhile in 2012 when the then minister of power, Professor Barth Nnaji was accused of conflict of interest, President Jonathan fired him immediately. He did not write letters. He did not defend him. He fired him. In 2014 when the then aviation minister was accused of involvement in buying overinflated cars, President Jonathan sacked her.
So my question to Nigerians is this: Who is fighting corruption between Buhari and Jonathan?
Adolf Hitler said, “If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed.”
The APC is using a propaganda technique known as the Big Lie that was propounded by Adolf Hitler in his 1925 book, mein kampf. According to Hitler, you tell a lie so “colossal” that no one would believe that someone “could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously.”
Let me ask you, the APC federal government said that the previous National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki embezzled $2.1 billion in an arms’ scam deal.
Now go through the charges they preferred against him in court and calculate the amount in those charges. It is not up to 10% of the amount they claimed was stolen.
The man himself said he never stole and is waiting to defend himself in court. All of a sudden, the APC federal government said they want a secret trial.
The same people that accused him publicly, the same APC that has been leaking stories to the press suddenly do not want the press to be involved in Dasuki’s trial.
They claim it is in the interest of national security. But what national security interests are they protecting? After all, they said the man did not buy weapons.
They said he stole the money. So, what possible national security interests could they be protecting if he did not really buy weapons?
They are not protecting any national security interests. They are protecting party interests because they know that if the case is allowed to be tried in public it will become clear that Dasuki is innocent and the charges against him are spurious and a part of the ‘Big Lie’ told by a la Adolf Hitler.
Let the Federal Government try Dasuki publicly. I repeat, let them try Dasuki publicly if they have nothing to hide.
You see, they do have a lot to hide because the APC is the biggest scam of the 21st Century! They scammed you with a lie so big you could not believe they were lying and now that you know they are lying, they want to disenfranchise you by using the phenomenon of ‘inconclusive elections’ which is the only major thing they have achieved since coming into office!

Recovered $9.8m: Why Jonathan sacked Yakubu, ex-NNPC head in in 2014
Recovered $9.8m: Why Jonathan sacked Yakubu, ex-NNPC head in in 2014
SHOCKING revelations emerged yesterday regarding the recovery of $9.8 million cash by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, from the Kaduna residence of a former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Dr. Adrew Yakubu, who claimed the recovered money was given to him by donors.
Saturday Vanguard learnt that the whopping amount of money was hidden in a fire-proof safe and kept in an inconsequential building allegedly owned by the former head of the state-owned Oil and Gas company. The discovery of the stashed money in Sabon Tesha, a suburb in Kaduna, was the peak of an investigation by the commission into the period Yakubu headed the NNPC in the last dispensation. Acting on an intelligence, the commission, it was gathered, commenced investigation leading to the discovery of the funds in a facility, whose caretaker, Mr. Bitrus Yakubu, claimed to be a younger brother to the ex-NNPC boss.
The younger Yakubu, who was around as of the time EFCC officials stormed the building noted that his elder brother owned the building and the safe where the cash was hidden. It was further learnt that when the safe was opened, it contained the sum of $9,772,800 and another sum of £74,000. On the strength of the finding which was confirmed by the Spokesperson of the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, Saturday Vanguard gathered that Yakubu was invited on February 8, 2017, by the commission and consequently detained. The former NNPC boss, who is currently being held by the anti-corruption agency, acknowledged owning the recovered money.
Yakubu, who was relieved of his position as the head of the NNPC in 2014 by ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, was the fourth head of the corporation in that dispensation. His appointment which took effect on July 1, 2012, was reported to have been terminated as a result of disagreement over who to appoint as the Managing Director of Nigerian Petroleum Development Company Limited, NPDC. An investigation by Premium Times had revealed that Yakubu’s insistence that only someone with technical background was fit to head the NPDC, resulted in a clash of interests with the then Minister of Petroleum, who allegedly engineered his removal by the administration of ex-President Jonathan.

Zimbabwe banks ran out of cash
Some Banks in Zimbabwe have announced a $50 withdrawal limit per day as cash shortage deepens in the country.
The country has been battling with cash shortages since 2016, with authorities blaming the externalization of foreign currency, hoarding and other illicit financial outflows.
According to Zim News, banks such as CABS, ZB, National Building Society and Standard Chartered had reverted to giving $50 per day in either bond notes or United States dollars while some had run out of cash, forcing depositors to spend hours in queues.
While Met Bank is said to be the only bank giving $300 weekly withdrawals to customers.
A CABS official who confirmed the $50 withdrawal limit said they did not have enough money hence they were forced to implement limits on withdrawals to ensure that they remain in business.

Don't Invest In MMM Again If You Love Your Self And Please Tell Your Family
I am mike, am an active participant of MMM so I don't think anyone here
will castigate me for coming up to speak against Mmm as it is obvious
the scheme is dead ,but if you don't believe me as being a participant
please try and dig up some of my post here and see how I have worked
assiduously to make sure MMM stays afloat in spite of criticism from
Nairaland,media and Govt.
I invested 400k in MMM around November but prior to that time I had invested meagre money which I was able to GH as at when due so later I decided to go for the big one which landed me in the trouble am facing till date.
But the truth nobody will tell you is that MMM won't pay the 'old mavro' again and they are already recruiting more guilders( the real problem) to lure new participants to the scheme, just like starting it all over again.

Must read! What does Obasanjo know about Buhari?
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo will officially be 80 in March and there are many who think he is hyperactive for his age.
He is probably one of the busiest former presidents with a schedule that combines half a dozen foreign travels each month with countless domestic trips filled with meetings, speeches and plenty of mischief in between.
He has visited President Muhammadu Buhari in Aso Rock four times and I know a publisher who has threatened to carry a placard on Obasanjo’s fifth visit – that is, if he even gets to hear of it.
Like him or hate him, you ignore Obasanjo at your peril. What he says is just about a good political bellwether as when he says it.

Governor Ayodele Fayose wishes President Muhammadu Buhari speedy recovery
- Fayose advises the presidency to ensure it gives accurate information about the health status of the president to forestall the spread of rumours
- The governor says nobody has control over health challenges
Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has called Nigerians to jointly pray to God for President Muhammadu Buhari’s speedy recovery so that he can return on time and resume work.
Fayose made the call on Thursday, February 9, at the government house in Ekiti state when the general overseer of Champions Glory Assembly Church, Pastor Joshua Lasisi, paid him a visit, Vanguard reports.
The governor who wished the president sound health, however advised the presidency to ensure that it gives accurate information about the health status of the president so as to forestall a situation whereby people would continue to spread rumour.
He said: “But the best thing we should all realize is that the Presidency owes Nigerians accurate information about the situation of things.
"Otherwise people would contier. Nigerians demanding for truthful and accurate information about the President’s health from the Presidency are right because the moment you assume such a position, your life has become public. So, we should let Nigerians have the accurate information about the whereabouts of Mr. President."
He asked Nigerians to pray for the president, noting that nobody has control over health challenges.
"I cannot say I cannot be sick when I’m sick because I am a public figure. I represent the interests of many people. They must know where I am, what is wrong and what am doing it is the right of every Nigerians. But I want to urge all of us to stick together and pray for Mr. President," he said.

Buhari Is Hale And Hearty, Wasn't Flown In An Air Ambulance - Lauretta Onochie
President Buhari's aide on social media, Lauretta
Onochie has slammed those carrying rumours about President Buhari's
health. She did that via twitter. Read her tweets after the cut..
1. I dont blame those who believe the lies peddled by liars about the health of @MBuhari. We have been lied to in the past by PDP leaders
2. @MBuhari was clear as to what he was to do from the beginning. He was going on leave and would have a health checkup. He told Nigerians
3. When @MBuhari's doctors said he needed further tests, he was not shy to tell Nigerians and asked for an extension of his leave.
4. Recall that when @MBuhari had issues with his ear & had to go for TREATMENT, he was open about it.
Dead Or Alive Buhari Makes No Difference - Financial Times
Nigeria’s president is missing in action
Muhammadu Buhari’s absence sends the rumour mill spinning
YESTERDAY by: David Pilling
For two weeks, Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria’s septuagenarian president, has been out of action, receiving medical treatment in London for an undisclosed illness. His absence has sent the rumour mill of Africa’s most populous nation spinning, with frequent erroneous reports that the president is dead. The tragedy for Nigeria is that policymaking has been so ponderous during the 20 months since Mr Buhari took office that, dead or alive, it is not always easy to tell the difference.
Under Mr Buhari’s slow-blinking leadership, Africa’s largest economy has drifted into crisis. Brought low by the weak oil price, on which government revenues are woefully dependent, the system has been starved of dollars. That has driven businesses into the ground, people on to the margins and the economy into its worst recession in 25 years. What had been a growing middle class is being daily eviscerated. High inflation, especially for food, is damaging the poor in whose name Mr Buhari ran for office.

5 Ways to Increase Work Productivity
5 Ways to Increase Work Productivity
Do you want to start maximizing your time so you can achieve more at work? You want to work more efficiently and increase your output? Jumia Travel shares 5 ways you can achieve that and increase your work productivity.
Know How Much Time You’re Spending On Tasks And How Much Time You Actually Need To Spend On These Tasks.
A tool like RescueTime can help you track the amount of time you are spending on tasks. When you are able to gauge how much time you spend on tasks, you will be able to determine the tasks that, in terms of time spent, you’re being excessive with. It will help you know how to limit your time spent on these tasks and add the leftover time to those tasks you are having difficulty accomplishing because of lack of time.
Think Of Ways You Can Work Smarter Not Harder
“Working smart is harder than working hard; it’s just less visible…” Working hard can mean putting in longer hours at work or packing more into your already full calendar to complete your work, amidst interruptions from colleagues who pop in from time to time to chat and occasional meetings that have become not so occasional. In the end, you can still end up being swamped and struggling to meet up with deadlines at the 11th hour.
On the other hand, working smart can be minimizing or cutting out interruptions by leaving the office early to get to a place where you can focus on time-sensitive projects without interruptions and get it done in time. So, sit and think of ways to work smarter and get your work done efficiently.
Stop Multi-Tasking (In The Traditional Sense)
What this means is that you should stop trying to do multiple tasks at the same time, which is the traditional belief about what multi-tasking is about. Rather, think of multi-tasking as completing multiple tasks in a day instead of at the same time. Commit to a single task before moving on to the next one.
Take Breaks
Take short breaks especially during long tasks. You might think this is counter intuitive but working continuously without break causes your level of performance and productivity to decline.
The mistakes and errors you are prone to make in the process, which can cause you to begin all over again, should also be considered.

Must Read! let me tell you about how I started my organisation by Adepeju Jaiyeoba
Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do. A strong, positive self-image is the best possible preparation for success. Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
According to Adepeju, she said
One

community. How do I start?'

• Legislators acknowledge receipt of letter• President not sick, Lai Mohammed insists
• Why Onnoghen may not be confirmed
The inability of President Muhammadu Buhari to resume duties on February 6 as contained in his earlier vacation letter to the Senate has triggered a debate over the legitimacy of the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo to continue to act on his behalf.
Also, the debate forecloses the effort to get the appointment of the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Walter Onnoghen confirmed by the Senate, since there is no one, ‘legally’ speaking, that would forward his name to the upper chamber.

He said "2face is my mentor when it comes to music. He is one musician I adore, Legendary to me but you cannot use a tool that you are not used to. When Fela was fighting the government, he used a tool that he was used to. Osayomore Joseph fought government and used a tool that he was used to. Sonny Okosun before he died, he used a tool he was used to. How on earth will 2face be fighting a fight that he's not used to? 2face is not a politician, he's a musician. If you want to lead a protest, you should lead it with music"
"How are you going to express yourself 2face when microphone is right in your face and you are asked to express your grievance and the reason why you are protesting? And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him. Colossians 3:10
The new life we received from our Father is a very wonderful life. But this life is in our spirit and God does not want the life to only remain in our spirit, because It won't have any effect on the material world which we live in. We need to get the life of God in our mind/heart/soul which will enable it to have impact on the material world we live in. This is very important as we live out the new life we have in Christ Jesus.
So when scripture says put on the new man, it is means 'fill your heart/mind/soul with the new man.' The heart/mind/soul of man, before the man got born again, was filled with the image/character/attribute of the old man. And this image/character/attribute needs to be renewed to that of the new man so that the man who is now born again will act as the new man that he is. So we have to renew our minds. No wonder scriptures say in Ephesians 4:23 "and be renewed in the spirit Of your mind."
So the mind have to be renewed by knowledge after the image of him that created him (Colossians 3:10). That is, the mind has to be renewed according to the image and by the knowledge of Christ our Creator. So as we fill/clothe our minds with the knowledge of Christ, our mind is renewed to the image of God, and we can now have the character/attitude of God, thereby acting like Him in all ways. Cloth yourself with the image of the new man.
Keep winning daily.
Prayer:
Thank You Father for the new life You have given me, and for making me a new man, created in Christ Jesus. I fill my mind with your knowledge. My mind is transformed by Your knowledge into the new man that I am, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

'One Voice' = an official statement from the 2face Foundation
'One Voice' = an official statement from the 2face Foundation
On behalf of Innocent "2Baba" Idibia, we would like to apologize to the fans, colleagues and everyday Nigerians who feel let down by the cancellation of this protest. 2Baba's aim was to lend his voice to make the government aware of the growing discontent due to the wildly escalating cost of living for Nigerians in Nigeria among other issues.
Arguably one of the country's most influential musicians, he saw it fit to use his considerable platform; at the core of which are Nigerians, to amplify their voice. This is why he chose to march for the cause, and why he was so honoured when his industry colleagues pledged their support.
In line with the commitment of One Voice Nigeria to ensure a peaceful and impactful protest, The 2face Foundation and partners engaged with the security agencies to resolve all major security concerns but treacherous gaps remain that we are unwilling to ignore.
The risk of hijack by various political and sundry interests intent on using the platform to drive agendas that we as The 2face Foundation are not aligned with and therefore exposing protesters to high levels of danger is the main reason why 2baba regretfully had to withdraw himself from the march. He has refused to inadvertently present a platform for mischief makers to exploit.
2baba would like to express his great regret over these circumstances to everyone who feels disappointed. However, he hopes they will agree that as he said in the video announcing the development; ‘no protest is worthy he blood of any Nigerian’.
He would also like to thank everyone; both individuals, and bodies like EiE which offered their support to him, and applaud their devotion to the nation. The primary objective of the planned protest as stated from the very beginning was to aggregate the voices of the people and present to leadership at all levels who may be unclear about the reality of the hardship faced by Nigerians.
We have no doubt that we have articulated our demands and have been heard LOUD and CLEAR. We urge a quick and positive response from government and encourage Nigerians to take a cue from this experience and never hesitate to stand up to the leadership on any and every situation that requires action. 2baba will continue channel his passion for these issues using a range of effective channels in the future.
He promises to continue working on avenues to help the Nigerian people be heard, he feels that is the least they deserve. This statement from The 2face Foundation is endorsed by Innocent "2Baba" Idibia.

Our Daily Bread Devotional, February 5, 2017 - Begin Where You Are
Topic: Begin Where You Are [Sunday February 5, 2017]
Read: Psalm 136:1–9, Bible in a Year: Exodus 36–38; Matthew 23:1–22
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. - Psalm 19:1
I came across a solitary flower growing in a meadow today—a tiny purple blossom “wasting its sweetness in the desert air,” to borrow from the poet Thomas Gray’s wonderful line. I’m sure no one had seen this particular flower before, and perhaps no one will see it again. Why this beauty in this place? I thought.
Nature is never wasted. It daily displays the truth, goodness, and beauty of the One who brought it into being. Every day nature offers a new and fresh declaration of God’s glory. Do I see Him through that beauty, or do I merely glance at it and shrug it off in indifference?
All nature declares the beauty of the One who made it. Our response can be worship, adoration, and thanksgiving—for the radiance of a cornflower, the splendor of a morning sunrise, the symmetry of one particular tree.
Author C. S. Lewis describes a walk in the forest on a hot summer day. He had just asked his friend how best to cultivate a heart thankful toward God. His hiking companion turned to a nearby brook, splashed his face and hands in a little waterfall, and asked, “Why not begin with this?” Lewis said he learned a great principle in that moment: “Begin where you are.”
A trickling waterfall, the wind in the willows, a baby robin, the blue sky, a tiny flower. Why not begin your thankfulness with this?
Prayer: Father, may we always be reminded that You have placed beauty here because it reflects Your character. We praise You!
[God] is the beauty behind all beauty. Steve DeWitt
Insight:
This worship song praises the wonders of God’s creation and His providential intervention for His people. The repeating refrain is, “His love endures forever.” The list of items for which to thank God, our Creator, are vast and extensive: God is good (v. 1), He is over all other “gods” (v. 2), He is the Lord of lords (v. 3), God alone does great wonders (v. 4), God by His understanding made the heavens (v. 5), He placed the earth on the waters (v. 6), He made the great lights (v. 7), He made the sun to govern the day (v. 8), and He made the moon and stars to govern the night (v. 9). As we behold the wonders of nature, we marvel at their Creator.
