Open Heavens 29 October 2016: Saturday daily devotional by Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Not Reprobate
Topic: Not Reprobate [Saturday 29, October 2016]
Memorise: But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates. – 2 Corinthians 13:6
Read: 2 Corinthians 13:5-8 (KJV)
5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
6 But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.
7 Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.
8 For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.
Bible in One Year: Zechariah 6:9-10:12, Psalms 89:38-52
MESSAGE:
To be reprobate is very dangerous for the society and for the Christian faith in particular. The reason is not far-fetched; a reprobate does immoral and unethical things without any sense of guilt or remorse because his or her conscience has been seared with hot iron of defiance. In our memory verse for today, Apostle Paul affirmed his confidence in the Corinthians Church premised on the fact that they would do according to the godly instructions he gave them.
The problem of some of the 21st century believers is the philosophy of relativism which makes them think that an acceptable statement or action in the time of war will also be acceptable in the time of peace. For instance, if you kill while on a battle field, you are valiant and patriotic, however, if you kill in the time of peace, even as a soldier, you will be charged with murder. An extreme case of relativism is when killing in the time of peace is considered the same with killing in the time of war. This is a human error that should not be allowed in the body of Christ because it turns believers into reprobates.
In our text today, Apostle Paul admonished the Church at Corinth, and by extension, the Church of today to make sure they are still in the faith. He goes further to challenge us to prove that we are carriers of Jesus’ image. This is the reason why John, the beloved wrote in 1 John 3:9
“Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.”
Some people have sold themselves to reprobate minds, and so no number of sermons they hear can change them. They keep saying, “My conscience does not condemn me.” The truth is that a dead conscience cannot condemn, because it is not active.
Prayer Point: Lord Jesus, please cleanse my conscience with Your Blood so that it may be more active and sensitive for you.

We shall keep Nigerians posted on Abati's arrest - EFCC
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it will update Nigerians on developments concerning Reuben Abati, former spokesman to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, who is currently in its custody.
The anti-graft agency said the brilliant journalist had been cooperating with it.
EFCC also dismissed the reports that he was arrested, saying Abati honoured its invitation.
“Former Special Adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati, on Monday, honoured an invitation by the EFCC at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja,” the commission wrote on Facebook.
“He is currently presently telling operatives of the commission his role in the alleged mismanagement of the nation’s resources through his office.
“We shall keep you posted.”
Abati is not the only member of Jonathan’s government in custody at the moment.
Bala Mohammed, the immediate past minister of the federal capital territory (FCT); Musiliu Obanikoro, former minister of state for defence; and Femi Fani-Kayode, former spokesman of Jonathan’s campaign have all been detained by the commission.
The EFCC is alleging that they were beneficiaries of money misappropriated by Sambo Dasuki, former national security adviser (NSA).
But Jonathan has defended Dasuki, saying allegations of corruption against his government were blown out of proportion.

Hausa Domination of Nigeria is a Myth by Reno Omokri
When we in the South say that the Hausa people of Northern Nigeria are our enemies we really ought to be aware that we are just playing into the divide and rule strategy of the oligarchs who have been the powers behind the throne in Nigeria for decades and who want the North and the South to be suspicious of each so they can play one side against the other and continue to dominate us to our detriment.
Now if you are a Southerner, ask yourself who are these so called Hausa people that are dominating us?
Of the thirteen Prime Ministers, heads of state and Presidents that have either ruled or led Nigeria since her independence from Great Britain in 1960, not one of those leaders have been Hausa by tribe.
Tafawa Balewa, our first prime minister was from a small minority tribe called Gere in Bauchi state, known in the singular form as Bagere.
Johnson Aguiyi Ironsi was Igbo by tribe from Abia state. General Yakubu Gowon is Angas by tribe from Plateau state.
Murtala Mohammed was Fulani from Kano state. President Olusegun Obasanjo is Yoruba from Ogun state. President Shehu Shagari is a Fulani from Sokoto state.
President Muhammadu Buhari is a Fulani Katsina state. President Ibrahim Babangida is a Gwari from Niger state.
Ernest Shonekan is Yoruba from Ogun state. Sani Abacha was Kanuri although he claimed Kano as his state because he was brought up there.
Abdulsalami Abubakar is the only Hausa leader we have ever had. Yet was he a dictator? Was he domineering? Capital no. In office he was a God fearing ruler who treated every part of Nigeria equally and ushered in the Fourth Republic which has been our longest democratic experience ever. Abdulsalami is and was a good man.
Does his image fit the stereotype of the mean and monstrous Hausa man? No. abdulsalami is more humane than some people who even call themselves clergymen! If he had wanted to stay on in power you and I would not have been able to stop him. More than President Obasanjo, General Abdulsalami Abubakar is our own Mandela!
After him we had the second Olusegun Obasanjo administration which was succeeded by the Umaru Musa Yar'adua
administration. President Yar'adua was a Fulani from Katsina state.
He was succeeded by President Goodluck Jonathan, a minority Ogbia (a minority clan within a minority tribe).
He has been succeeded by President Muhammadu Buhari who is a Fulani from Katsina as previously noted.
From the above, some persons may want to adjust Hausa domination and make it Fulani domination, but that again is another Myth!
Of the four Fulanis who have either ruled or led Nigeria, two of them were reluctant Presidents. President Shehu Shagari, who I have met physically, never wanted to be President of Nigeria. That is what he meant by the title of his own autobiography, 'Beckoned to Serve'. All he wanted was to be a Senator. He was prevailed upon by the defunct National Party of Nigeria (NPN) to run as their flag bearer. He was a reluctant President.
Ditto for the late President Umaru Musa Yar'adua. He never wanted to be President. He wanted to retire as a chemistry lecturer in Katsina. He was persuaded by former President Olusegun Obasanjo to be the flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and even during the Presidential campaigns of 2007, President Obasanjo campaigned for Yar'adua more than Yar'adua campaigned for himself!
Now of the remaining two Fulani leaders, President Muhammadu Buhari tried three times to be Nigeria's President and three times he failed because he largely depended on the Hausa-Fulani (there is really nothing like Hausa-Fulani, it is a creation of the Lagos-Ibadan press. You are either Hausa or Fulani).
The fact of history is that in 2015, the then candidate Buhari's victory depended on God who used two Southwestern Yoruba men, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
In other words, what the North could not do for President Buhari was done for him by two South-westerners. So ask yourself who is dominating who?
And in fact, Hausa is more of a language than it is a tribe. It is a language that connects the people of Northern Nigeria. A lot of these people that we in the South view as Hausa are not Hausa. They have their own individual ethnic nationalities.
But when we in the South resist them and band them all as Hausa, they have no choice but to fall back on that identity and unite on it to also resist us in the South.
You cannot expect people you do not like to love you. And government cannot force us to love each other. Government cannot legislate patriotism.
You and I must learn to understand each other and grow to love each whether we are from the North or South.
When the oppressed people of Nigeria unite against their oppressors it is then they will know that the masses are the only dominant power bloc in Nigeria.
Until then, enjoy your imaginary Hausa enemies!

Dance Queen Kaffy Apologizes, Explains Why She Called Davido Names
Earlier this morning, Dance queen Kafayat Shafau Ameh popularly known as Kaffy shared a short video clip of her calling Davido a motherf*ker for calling off the service of his dancers few minutes to his show without any cogent reason.
However, Kaffy who might have had a rethink and felt she over reacted just took to her page to apologize for the outburst also stating that her rant was long over due because most artist takes advantage of them and she really needs to make them know that dancers matter alot while producing music videos because they communicate with their bodies what words and sound can't express. The sexy mother of two wrote :
I want to start by apologizing profusely for my profanity. It's not how I roll .i am one person who promote discipline and respect among dancers towards their clients and one another.
However this isssue is REAL. We MATTER and deserve respect as we have become part of the building block of the entertainment world.
We communicate with our bodies what words and sound can't express. We paint a picture that defies laws of nature ND produce masterpieces beyond mere imaginations.
It requires a lot of brain power to begin to be a dancer not to talk of the ability to command muscles people can't imagine using and that is still underrating the Power of the Art of Dance.
From youth empowerment to mind empowerment it is the least looked into form of psychological, physical and spiritual reformation.
And I can categorically tell u alot of lives have been changed for the better because we danced.
So WE MATTER. beyond the dance floor we matter against all odds of societal definition of success we matter, thrive and we rule.
So it is time we take control and have a voice. Create structure that will protect us from further disrespect and I will do all in my power to continue to protect dancers.I know great minds out there in our world that will rise up too. It's been years and I have been quiet for too long.
And this is not just in Africa it's everywhere.
Davido was just the last straw.it didn't start with him but we can put a stop.
Thank you to all who support this fight. God bless [b][/b]

Bugaje To Buhari: I Rejected Your Appointment Because My Hands Are Full
Usman Bugaje, an ambassadorial nominee from Katsina state, has given a reason why he turned down President Muhammadu Buhari’s offer.
He has declined to speak to the media on his decision.
But on his Facebook page on Wednesday, the northern politician thanked Buhari for the appointment, but he said he could not accept it because his hands were full.
“Regarding the published nomination for an ambassadorial posting, I have not spoken to the press and may not do so anytime soon,” he wrote.
“I thank those who think me fit for the job, but I have so much in my hands already, especially the Arewa Research and Development Project (ARDP), which is the only broad platform in the north driving development.
“I have weighed the options and have decided to remain home and continue the struggle for development and good governance.”
Pauline Tallen, former deputy governor of Plateau state, had also rejected her ambassadorial appointment, citing lack of “proper consultation” as the reason for her decision.
On Monday, governors elected on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform met with Buhari to express their concerns over the list of ambassadorial nominees.
But the president told them to put their concerns in writing.
Akintunde Akinwande, a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, has also turned down his appointment as the chairman of the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

Open Heavens 26 October 2016: Wednesday daily devotional by Pastor E. A. Adeboye – What are you Living For?
Topic: What are you Living For? [Wednesday 26, October 2016]
Memorise: For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called. – Ecclesiastes 12:13
Read: Luke 12:15-20 (KJV)
2 Plead with your mother, plead: for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband: let her therefore put away her whoredoms out of her sight, and her adulteries from between her breasts;
3 Lest I strip her naked, and set her as in the day that she was born, and make her as a wilderness, and set her like a dry land, and slay her with thirst.
4 And I will not have mercy upon her children; for they be the children of whoredoms.
5 For their mother hath played the harlot: she that conceived them hath done shamefully: for she said, I will go after my lovers, that give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, mine oil and my drink.
Bible in One Year: Nahum 1-3, Habakkuk 1-3, Psalms 88
MESSAGE:
To know what you live for, you need to consult the Holy Scriptures and this is what we shall briefly do in today’s reading. The Bible says:
“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” - Revelation 4:11
The unfortunate thing about life is that, people live as if they own their lives. Our Lord Jesus Christ told us the story of a certain rich man who in one year had so much money that he started boasting of many years of enjoyment. While he was ranting and boasting, God said to him:
“20…Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? 21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.” - Luke 12:20-21
Beloved, we are expected to live for God the Father, through Jesus Christ the Son. We are not supposed to live for ourselves anymore, because we have been bought with price. Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ admonished us as peculiar people to show forth the praises of Him (Jesus) who hath called us out of darkness into His marvellous light. (1 Peter 2:9). Moreover, Paul, another apostle corroborated this when he wrote:
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” - Galatians 2:20
The apostle further wrote that, after we have given our lives to Christ, we should live a new life as becoming the saints. We should put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. This is the only way we can live for God and not for ourselves. May the Lord grant us the grace to live acceptably before Him in Jesus’ name.
Prayer Point: Father, help me to live for You alone in Jesus’ name.

2 Plead with your mother, plead: for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband: let her therefore put away her whoredoms out of her sight, and her adulteries from between her breasts;

Breaking news... Boko Haram releases more Chibok girls from captives
In a new development, More of the over 200 Chibok school girls from Borno State abducted on April 14, 2014 by Boko Haram have been released, News Express can report this evening.
“I can confirm to you that more of the girls have been released and will soon be brought to Abuja,” a usually reliable security source told News Express on Tuesday evening.
The source could not confirm the number of girls released this time but assured that they were already in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).
News Express reports that the first batch of 21 of the Chibok schoolgirls were recently released by Boko Haram.
“The release of the girls, in a limited number is the outcome of negotiations between the administration and the Boko Haram brokered by the International Red Cross and the Swiss government,” the Presidency had said at the time. It added that “the negotiations will continue.”

Open Heavens 25 October 2016: Tuesday daily devotional by Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Spiritual Adultery Forbidden!
Topic: Spiritual Adultery Forbidden! [Tuesday 25, October 2016]
Memorise: For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called. – Isaiah 54:5
Read: Hosea 2:2-5 (KJV)
2 Plead with your mother, plead: for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband: let her therefore put away her whoredoms out of her sight, and her adulteries from between her breasts;
Bible in One Year: Micah 5-7, Psalms 87
MESSAGE:
The relationship between God and his human creatures could be likened to the relationship between a husband and his wife. God, who instituted marriage, patterned the relationship in marriage after His relationship with His people. This is why spiritual adultery is severely punished from time to time in the history of man and his interaction with his Maker.
“11 And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim: 13 And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth. 14 And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.” - Judges 2:11, 13-14
God is jealous, like a man could be jealous over the relationship of his wife with another man, when his human creatures follow other gods besides Him (Exodus 20:5). The spiritual adultery which the children of Israel committed is vividly illustrated in the relationship between Hosea and Gomer his professional harlot-turned wife. The patience of Hosea with Gomer who was always going back to her whoredom like a dog that goes back to its vomit also illustrates God’s patience with His people who court with the people of the world. The bond becomes stronger when someone at the altar of repentance, betroths himself or herself to Jesus Christ, the original Bridegroom. The Bible says:
“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” 1 John 2:15
Our Lord Jesus Christ also said that our love cannot be possibly shared between God and ephemeral things of this world. He said:
“No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” - Luke 16:13
Serving God and mammon is spiritual adultery, punishable by rejection and shame. The Bible says:
“2 Plead with your mother, plead: for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband: let her therefore put away her whoredoms out of her sight, and her adulteries from between her breasts; 3 Lest I strip her naked, and set her as in the day that she was born, and make her as a wilderness, and set her like a dry land, and slay her with thirst.” - Hosea 2:2-3
Beloved, beware of spiritual adultery. Stick to Jesus Christ. The Lover of your soul and He will do you good.
Prayer Point: Father, please forgive me of any spiritual adultery I might have committed against You and our spiritual matrimony. For Christ’s sake, please do not reject me.

ONDO GOV POLL: Jimoh Ibrahim, Olusola Oke’s names missing on INEC’s final list
By Omeiza Ajayi Mr Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, of the All Progressives Congress, APC, were among the governorship candidates whose names were released in the final list by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for candidates that will participate in the forthcoming governorship elections in Ondo State. Olusola Oke,Olusola Oke, Conspicuously, the names of Mr Jimoh Ibrahim and Chief Olusola Oke were omitted from the final list released by the commission. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); A Federal High Court had ordered INEC to recognize Jimoh Ibrahim as the PDP candidate in the Ondo election. Though, Vanguard gathered that the commission was still consulting with her lawyers on the development, a list of 28 candidates dated September 22 and recently updated on its website showed the that there has been no substitution of any of the candidates. Chief Oke, who defected to the Alliance for Democracy, AD, after the controversial primaries of the APC also suffers similar fate as Ibrahim. In the list, the AD candidate, Mr Akin Enoch Zerubabel Olowookere and his 72-year old running mate, Yahaya Ipinloju are jointly number 4 on the list. INEC to deploy 16,723 personnel Meantime, to conduct the governorship election in Ondo State, scheduled for Saturday, November 26th 2016, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), is to deploy 16,723 personnel. Ondo state is made up of 18 Local Government Areas, 203 Registration Areas, and 3,010 Polling Units. It has a total of 1,660,055 registered voters. A breakdown of the 16,723 personnel to be deployed indicates that INEC would deploy one Returning Officer, 18 Local Government Collation Officers, 203 Registration Area Collation Officers, 301 Supervisory Presiding Officer, SPOs, 3,010 Presiding Officers, POs, and 11, 103 Assistant Presiding Officers. $1m bribe: INEC accuses Jimoh Ibrahim of lying Jimoh IbrahimJimoh Ibrahim Also, the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has formally reacted to allegations by a factional candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in the forthcoming Ondo election, Jimoh Ibrahim to the effect that an INEC staff had demanded a bribe of $1 million from him. INEC in a statement issued in Abuja and signed by its National Commissioner in charge of Information, Prince Solomon Soyebi, exonerated its Director of Legal Services, Mrs Toyin Babalola of the allegation. INEC said Mr Ibrahim had stormed its headquarters with a copy of a court judgment ordering his candidacy to be accepted by the party, saying while the visit was unexpected, INEC does not also deal with individuals but parties. “On sighting the unexpected guest, Mrs Babalola called three other lawyers in her department to witness her encounter with Mr Ibrahim and politely told him that the commission was already in possession of the court document. At no time during the encounter that lasted less than 15 minutes did Mrs Babalola ask for $1 million. Therefore, the allegation by Mr Ibrahim is false”, INEC said. On the allegation that the Resident Electoral Commissioner REC in Ondo State, Mr Segun Agbaje requested for a private meeting with Ibrahim in London, INEC said: “The commission discovered that it was Mr Ibrahim, who through an intermediary, tried to arrange a meeting with the Ondo REC in London. This Mr Agbaje promptly declined and insisted that if Mr Ibrahim wanted to see him, he was free to do so at the Ondo State INEC office during official hours. So, Mr Ibrahim’s account is not the correct account of what actually took place.”

I was elected President to spread wealth, not poverty – Jonathan
Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan has, Monday, said that he was never elected as Nigeria’s president to spread poverty but to generate and spread wealth. Former President Jonathan giving his speech at OxfordFormer President Jonathan giving his speech at Oxford Jonathan who spoke at the Oxford Union, with the theme ‘Fostering Youth Entrepreneurship, and succeeding US Secretary of State who spoke at the same event in May this year, said that only being entrepreneurial can completely cure poverty and not having a job or working for someone. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); “I once said that I was not elected President of Nigeria to spread poverty; I was elected to generate and spread wealth.” “My belief in this regard is that getting a job or being a worker cannot completely cure the disease of poverty. It is only your own business that can provide such security and give you the financial freedom you need to prosper.” Dr. Jonathan, whose speech was streamed live, rhetorically queried his audience asking why some nations are rich and others remain poor. Former President Jonathan giving his speech at OxfordFormer President Jonathan giving his speech at Oxford ”Why are some nations rich and some poor? Why do individuals that grow up in similar circumstances end up differently, with some as successes and others as failures?” “Is the wealth of nations a result of geography, weather, culture, destiny, etc.? What could a leader do to effectively lift a people out of the depths of poverty and enable them to achieve prosperity?” asked Jonathan. The former Nigerian leader talked about youth entrepreneurship programs his administration pioneered, saying that one of them, YouWIN, was a major plank of his job creation efforts. “The motivation for this program is for young people to go into SMEs, create jobs for other young people with the expectation that some would grow to large scale businesses” Dr. Jonathan said. He concluded his speech by giving a short brief of his achievements in the economic sphere, saying, “Under my watch, Nigeria was projected by CNN Money to be the third fastest growing economy in the world for the year 2015 and rated as the largest economy in Africa and the 23rd largest in the world by the World Bank and the IMF, with a GDP above half a Trillion US dollars.” Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan with some students at OxfordEx-President Goodluck Jonathan with some students at Oxford The speech was streamed live via Dr. Jonathan’s Facebook page and will be hosted on the Oxford Union’s site. Previous speakers at the Oxford Union include the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson, Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, author of 48 laws of power, Robert Greene, the Dalai Lama, former British prime ministers Winston Churchill, Edward Heath, Margaret Thatcher and John Major. Open Heavens 24 October 2016: Monday daily devotional by Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Occupying while Waiting?
Topic: Occupying while Waiting? [Monday 24, October 2016]
Memorise: And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come. – Luke 19:13
Read: Joshua 13:1-6 (KJV)
1 Now Joshua was old and stricken in years; and the LORD said unto him, Thou art old and stricken in years, and there remaineth yet very much land to be possessed.
2 This is the land that yet remaineth: all the borders of the Philistines, and all Geshuri,
3 From Sihor, which is before Egypt, even unto the borders of Ekron northward, which is counted to the Canaanite: five lords of the Philistines; the Gazathites, and the Ashdothites, the Eshkalonites, the Gittites, and the Ekronites; also the Avites:
4 From the south, all the land of the Canaanites, and Mearah that is beside the Sidonians, unto Aphek, to the borders of the Amorites:
5 And the land of the Giblites, and all Lebanon, toward the sunrising, from Baalgad under mount Hermon unto the entering into Hamath.
6 All the inhabitants of the hill country from Lebanon unto Misrephothmaim, and all the Sidonians, them will I drive out from before the children of Israel: only divide thou it by lot unto the Israelites for an inheritance, as I have commanded thee.
Bible in One Year: Micah 1-4, Psalms 86
MESSAGE:
The parables of Jesus sometimes were directed to the multitude and at some other times are directed to the disciples in particular. The parable of Jesus in the memory verse for today was directed to the disciples who were being prepared for the great commission (Mark 16:15-16). They were told to occupy till He comes.
Sometimes we think the word “occupy” means “keep yourself busy” alone; it means more than that. We must not keep ourselves busy doing nothing substantial. To understand the import of Christ’s command in Luke 19:13 we must take a look at the Bible reading of today. The Lord gave a not too good assessment of the journey to the Promised Land under Joshua, which should be a food for thought for the Church of the 21st century.
“Now Joshua was old and stricken in years; and the LORD said unto him, Thou art old and stricken in years, and there remaineth yet very much land to be possessed.” - Joshua 13:1
One lesson we must quickly learn from the above scripture is that Joshua was now old and there was no more strength and energy to lead the battle against the inhabitants of the land which God had given to them. They failed to occupy the Promised Land. In the same vain, when Jesus Christ told His disciples (and us by extension), to go into the world and preach the gospel to every creature, He was actually saying that we should go and occupy the land for Him and the Kingdom of His Father. It is beyond keeping ourselves busy just for its sake. The question now is, “Are we really occupying while we await His second coming?” Another food for thought is; in our evangelistic and missionary efforts, can we say we are occupying both the geographical and spiritual landscape and atmosphere of the world? What can we show for all the money spent on missions and evangelistic efforts? Have we taken a break in our efforts to occupy the nooks and crannies of world kingdoms like the disciples of old? We must remember that our mandate is to make disciples of all nations.
Beloved, we must not lose grounds any more. As a matter of fact, the grounds we have lost to the enemy must be taken back. Like David encouraged himself in the Lord after the raid of his barrack at Ziklag, we must summon courage to go after the enemy and recover back the Kingdoms that once belongs to the Church. The cathedrals that have been turned to bars must be brought back for the worship of the King of kings and the Lord of Lords. Christian nations that have turned secular must be revived and brought back to the light of the gospel of the Son of the Living God. May the Lord help us in Jesus’ name.
Action Point: Let us set a strategic plan to go to the “garrison” of the children of the bondwoman and take what belongs to our God back to Him because He is the God of all flesh.

Open Heavens 23 October 2016: Sunday daily devotional by Pastor E. A. Adeboye – The Touch of Faith
Topic: The Touch of Faith [Sunday 23, October 2016]
Memorise: Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. – Matthew 9:29
Read: Matthew 9:20-22 (KJV)
20 And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment:
21 For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.
22 But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.
Bible in One Year: Obadiah 1, Jonah 1-4, Psalms 85
MESSAGE:
There is tremendous power in a touch. It may be positive or negative as there are categories and types of touches. Naaman knew the power in a touch, especially from representatives of God and said with a sense of disappointment when Elisha did not come out to touch him when he went to Samaria:
“…Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.” - 2 Kings 5:11
A touch can bring death as in the case of Uzzah in the book of Samuel:
“6 And when they came to Nachon's threshingfloor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it. 7 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God.” - 2 Samuel 6:6-7
During one of our Conventions at the Redemption Camp in Nigeria, the Lord asked me to lay out a piece of cloth for people to touch by faith and receive their healing, with a warning that it should simply be touched and not held. A man went ahead to touch (I will say without faith) because he also grabbed the cloth. It took special grace and forgiveness of God for him not to die the moment he touched outside of faith; his entire body began to shake uncontrollably from morning till evening. It would have been a touch of death but for God’s intervention.
Another touch can bring healing as in the case of the woman with the issue of blood in our Bible reading for today.
“For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.” - Matthew 9:21
This is the touch of faith. The touch of faith can work for the one who touches and for the touched. In the same chapter of Matthew’s gospel, Jesus Christ was met by two blind men who were crying for mercy of healing. When Jesus found out that these men had faith to receive divine touches for healing, the Bible says:
“29 Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. 30 And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it.” - Matthew 9:29-30
The touch of faith is required anytime you need a miracle. I pray for someone using this devotional; the Lord will touch you for healing and deliverance today, and will have a testimony in Jesus’ name. I also pray that whatever you touch by faith today will prosper in Jesus’ name.
Prayer Point: Father, please touch me in the areas where I need Your intervention today and let my joy be full in Jesus’ name.
