Apple decides marijuana app belongs in the App Store after all
MassRoots' social network for cannabis users contravened Apple's policy of banning apps that promote drug use, and had to go. Two weeks after that decision was made, an army of hemp-wearing advocates have managed to convince the iPhone maker to change its mind. The contentious issue, you see, was that it's now legal to enjoy jazz cigarettes for medicinal purposes in 23 states, making Apple one of those boring squares that just needed to stop being such a narc.
MassRoots teamed up with the professional hop-heads at the National Cannabis Industry Association, the ArcView group and that beardy guy who lives in a trailer down by the freight yard. The reinstatement of the app does come with a few conditions attached, however, since Apple has stipulated that it can only be downloaded by residents of the 23 states where it's legal. That means your phone will do a geo-location check to make sure you're in Alaska, Wisconsin or California before you'll be allowed to hit "Get." In a blog post, MassRoots has pledged to take its newly-found legitimacy seriously, promising to work with Apple to "affect meaningful societal change." As a rejoinder, it's also vowed to stop treading ash into the carpet and will stop playing the bongos after 11pm on a school night.

Seplat Announces Acquisition Of Interest In Onshore OML 55
SEPLAT Petroleum Development Company Plc has announced conclusion of negotiations to purchase 56.25 percent share capital of Belemaoil Producing Limited. Belemaoil is a Nigerian special purpose vehicle (SPV) that has completed the acquisition of a 40.00 percent interest in the producing OML 55, located in the swamp to coastal zone of Southeastern Niger Delta from Chevron Nigeria Limited. NNPC holds the remaining 60.00 percent interest in OML 55.
Seplat is listed on both the Nigeria Stock Exchange and London Stock Exchange. Its effective working interest in OML 55, as a result of the acquisition, is 22.50 percent.
The consideration for the indigenous oil firm to acquire its 22.50 percent effective working interest in OML 55 is $132.2 million after adjustments. The adjustments to the consideration include a deferred payment of US$11.6 million net to Seplat contingent on oil prices averaging $90/bbl or above for 12 consecutive months over the next five years.
The company has also advanced certain loans of $80.0 million to the other shareholders of Belemaoil to meet their share of investments and costs associated with Belemaoil.
In addition, discussions are underway to determine repayment terms for the initial deposit against the acquisition of $52.5 million that Belemaoil funded with bank debt. This amount may subsequently be added to the total amount loaned to Belemaoil by Seplat. Under the agreed terms Seplat will recover the loaned amounts, together with an uplift premium of up to $20.6 million and annual interest of 10.00 percent, from 80.00 percent of the other shareholders oil lifting entitlements. The company estimates net recoverable hydrocarbon volumes attributable to its 22.50 percent effective working interest to be approximately 20 MMbbls of oil and condensate and 156 Bscf of gas (total 46 MMboe). Current gross production at OML 55 is approximately 8,000 bopd (1,800 bopd on a 22.50 percent working interest basis). Pursuant to the Joint Operating Model approved by the Honourable Nigerian Minister of Petroleum Resources, Seplat has been designated operator of OML 55. The Company will also act as technical services provider to Belemaoil.
“The addition of OML 55 to our portfolio, together with the separately announced acquisition of OML 53, expands our footprint in the Niger Delta to six blocks and further cements our position as a leading indigenous independent E&P in Nigeria. OML 55 provides us with a number of attractive opportunities to boost oil and gas output, and is consistent with our strategy of prioritising those that offer near-term production growth, cash-flow and reserve replacement potential in the onshore and shallow water offshore areas of Nigeria,” said Austin Avuru, Seplat’s Chief Executive Officer. “We are pleased to have extended our operating partnership with NNPC who we look forward to working with in our capacity as Operator pursuant to the Joint Operating Model,” he added.
OML 55 covers an area of approximately 840km2 and is located in the swamp to shallow water offshore areas in the Southeastern Niger Delta. The block contains five producing fields (Robertkiri, Inda, Belema North, Idama and Jokka). The majority of production on the block is from the Robertkiri, Idama and Inda fields. The Robertkiri field is located in swamp at a water depth of five metres and has a production platform and utility platform installed. Production capacity at the Robertkiri facilities is 20,000 bpd and 10 MMscfd. Production facilities at the Idama field comprise a jack-up mobile offshore production unit (“MOPU”) and riser platform that have a capacity of 30,000 bpd of total fluids and 34 MMscfd. The Jokka field is produced through a manifold tied-back to the Idama facilities. Production facilities at the Inda field comprise a MOPU with a capacity of 30,000 bpd of total liquids and 34 MMscfd.
Overall, the infrastructure on OML 55 comprises four flow-stations, a network of flow-lines and two eight-inch pipelines that connect to third party operated infrastructure.
The Belema field is unitised with OML 25 and is produced via a flow-station on that block. All produced liquids from OML 55 are delivered via third party infrastructure to the Bonny terminal for processing and shipping. In addition to the oil potential on the block there is also an opportunity to develop the significant gas resources that have also been identified.

Copenhagen free speech debate shooting: One dead
Gunmen have killed one person and injured three police
officers at a free speech debate in Copenhagen attended by a controversial
Swedish cartoonist, officials say.
The French ambassador was also present at the seminar.
Reports say up to 40 shots were fired and a manhunt has been launched.
Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks, who has previously faced death threats over caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad, was unhurt.
Shortly after the shooting, a message appeared on the Twitter feed of French ambassador Francois Zimeray saying he was still alive.
In an audio recording which emerged from the attack, one of the speakers at the debate is suddenly interrupted by a barrage of gunshots.
Eyewitness Niels Ivar Larsen, speaking to the Associated Press news agency, said: "I heard someone firing with an automatic weapon and someone shouting."
"Police returned fire and I hid behind the bar," he added.
The area around the venue is under lockdown, the BBC's Malcolm Brabant reports.
Police have erected cordons and are searching a nearby park, he adds.
Officials say they are hunting for two suspected attackers who fled the scene in a car.
Strict security
The debate, which took place in a cafe, was described on a personal website of Lars Vilks as a talk on whether any limits should be placed on artistic expression or freedom of speech.
A description of the event asked whether artists could "dare" to be blasphemous in the wake of the Charlie Hebdo terror attacks by Islamist gunmen in Paris last month.
In an indication of the threat faced by the cartoonist, a note was included on the website saying there was always "strict security" whenever the artist spoke in public.
Lars Vilks stoked controversy in 2007 by drawing pictures of the Prophet Muhammad dressed as a dog.
An organiser of the event, Helle Merete Brix, said she clearly considered the incident an attack on Mr Vilks, reported the Associated Press news agency.
In 2010 two brothers tried to burn down the cartoonist's house in southern Sweden and were imprisoned for attempted arson.

REVEALED: Why President Jonathan is Angry With Jega
President Goodluck Jonathan is reportedly not happy with Prof. Attahiru Jega, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, for blaming service chiefs over the postponement of the February elections.
In an Exclusive report THE CABLE wrote;
An uneasy relationship now exists between presidency and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the reason adduced for the adjustment of the general election dates, TheCable understands.
Attahiru Jega, a professor of political science and INEC chairman, had attributed the shift in dates from February 14 and 28 to March 28 and April 11 respectively to a letter written by the military over its “inability” to provide security for the elections because of ongoing operations against Boko Haram in the north-east.
But a presidency official who spoke with TheCable at the weekend said Jega was being “clever by half” and was attempting to “pass the buck” in order to cover up for INEC’s poor preparations for the elections. The official only spoke on the condition that he would not be quoted.
“Jega was not sincere at all. The collection of PVCs was to end last Saturday and 23 million cards were yet to be distributed. Why was Jega not man enough to admit they would have bungled the elections if the dates had remained unchanged?” he asked. According to the official, who is a presidential aide, the security issue was just one of the several factors that necessitated the shift in the dates “but Jega has cleverly gone to tell the whole world that it was the security agencies that forced him to change the dates.” He said journalists should have asked him what he intended to do with the 23 million uncollected PVCs as well as the ones that were stolen from INEC’s custody.

Words That Build a Nation
By Reno Omokri
The words that have emanated from some of our politicians especially over the course of the months leading up to 2015 have been too desperate, and antagonistic, tending towards brinksmanship and giving the impression that they see politics as a zero sum game and not as a vehicle to offer service to the people.
If our electoral and judicial processes had not been sanitized to the extent we have today where the only way you can win elections and stay in office is for people to vote for you, then one may understand, even if not agree, with those who are making these desperate calls. But our electoral and judicial processes have been sanitized and our press is completely free, so there is no reason for any popular candidate or party to either directly or through its agents make such calls.
