APC Cries Out, Alleges PDP’s Plan to Kill Buhari

                                                      Muhammadu Buhari

The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APCPCC) has raised the alarm to the effect that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), through their surrogates, are planning to eliminate its Presidential flag bearer, General Muhammad Buhari, as showcased in the wrap-around front-page paid advertisements in some national dailies.

The APC Presidential Campaign Council said in a statement in Abuja on Monday that it is bewildered by plans of the PDP and their surrogates to be plotting the death of Buhari ahead of the February 14 presidential poll.

Consequently, the APC Presidential Campaign Council has called for an international inquiry into the plot to kill Buhari because of the danger it poses to Nigeria’s unity and democracy and by extension the stability of the West African sub-region.

“The insinuation that the leader of Nigeria’s Opposition should or may die ahead of the February 14 presidential polls is not only morbid and fatalistic, but drips of desperation and represents the pinnacle of political paranoia on the part of the incumbent government which has run out of favour with the populace after nearly six years of lacklustre performance,” the APCPCC said.
The Council describes as distasteful the paid advertisement by PDP Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, titled “Life and Death and Enough of State Burials…”, as “nothing but death plan by the government in power to scuttle the results of the election and prevent the APC from taking over the mantle of leadership of the country.”

Size does not matter! This is what Nigeria’s AfroCandy is letting us know this beautiful Tuesday morning. We know she loves her men having it ‘big’ but then, it seems the candy woman just tried her non-favourite (the small size), and found out it’s the best after all. See what she tweeted,
Honestly.....But em, ladies, Afrocandy aside, which is really satisfying. The big size or the small size?  Hehehe

WHY BUHARI WILL NEVER BE PRESIDENT OF NIGERIA

By FEMI ARIBISALA

On Friday, 23rd August, 1985, the military government of Major-General Muhammadu Buhari decided to place me under arrest. My crime was that I wrote, among others, an article entitled: “Counter-trading Nigeria’s Future” in the National Concord, exposing the government’s scam of diverting public funds into private coffers through barter-trade with Brazil. A man by the name of Benson Norman was sent from the State Security Services (SSS) to my office to get me. Not finding me, he left a note that I must present myself unfailingly at the SSS office at 15 Awolowo Road, Ikoyi Lagos the next Monday morning.

However, on Sunday, 25th August, 1985, Lateef Aminu came first thing in the morning to my house to inform me that the government of Buhari/Idiagbon had been overthrown. For this reason, I am fond of telling people that God brought about a change of government in Nigeria just because of me.

Coup-plotter

Under the Buhari/Idiagbon regime, once you ended up at 15 Awolowo Road, you may never be heard of again. Decree Number 2 of 1984 empowered Tunde Idiagbon to arrest and detain anybody indefinitely without trial and without legal reprieve. After Buhari was overthrown, Mohammadu Gambo opened the prison doors of 15 Awolowo Road on public television, revealing people in various stages of undress and malnutrition that had been kept in the dungeons without trial by Buhari’s hound-dogs.

As self-imposed Head of State, Buhari had no regard for human rights. Immediately he seized power, he announced that he would “tamper with” the press. Soon, the infamous Decree Number 4 was promulgated which made even the publication of the truth a punishable offence. Under this cover, Buhari jailed innocent journalists, including Tunde Thompson and Nduka Irabor. He abolished civil liberties, promulgated retroactive decrees enabling him to kill Nigerians through jungle justice, proscribed civil society organizations and professional groups and exercised “absolute” power.

This same Buhari would now have us believe that he has gone through some metamorphosis and has become a democrat. I am sure you will forgive me if people like me don’t believe him. Buhari is not, has never been, and will never be, a democrat. Only in Nigeria would a man with his track record, who came to power through a military coup that illegally overthrew a democratic government, now be acclaimed as a democrat. It is on record that Buhari’s military regime is the only one in Nigeria’s history that failed to promulgate a program for return to civilian rule.

Facts and fiction

So what exactly qualifies Bihari as a democrat today? Precious little! There is nothing democratic about forming and joining political parties just in order to be the presidential candidate. Little wonder then that Buhari’s parties have a short shelf-life. Buhari would like to be Nigeria’s head of state once again. He can no longer achieve this through the barrel of a gun. The only route now open to him is through the democratic process. That is the reason why he now conveniently fashions himself as a democrat. It is merely a means to an end; no more, no less.

Buhari’s reputation as an anti-corruption crusader is also a myth. As head of state, he did not make any dent in Nigerian corruption. All we got was a cosmetic “war against indiscipline.” The counter-trade scam happened under his watch. Rather than deal with it, he sent his hound-dogs after nonentities like me who dared to expose it. That scam was no different, in scope and scale, from the petroleum subsidy and other corruption scandals that have since plagued Nigeria. The Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) that Buhari headed under Abacha was also a citadel of corruption. While Buhari himself might not have enriched himself, his cronies and those who worked under him did so handsomely.

On three different occasions, Buhari has run for the presidency. On three different occasions he has failed. That should really be enough. If, as seems likely, he were to run for the presidency a fourth time in 2015, there is no question that he would fail yet again. Try as he might again and again, Muhammadu Buhari can never be President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Buhari’s sectarianism

There is a fundamental reason behind this. Buhari is a lousy politician. He is an unbending former military dictator and not a democratic consensus-builder. Like his new ally, Bola Tinubu, Buhari is a regional, sectional politician. Such politicians are practically impossible to package and market nationally in the ethnically-delicate Nigeria of today.

Former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Malam Nasir El’Rufai, one of those Northerners who deserve to be serious contenders for the presidency of Nigeria, observed that Buhari remains “perpetually unelectable” as a result of his “insensitivity to Nigeria’s diversity and his parochial focus.” This is an elegant way of saying that politically, Buhari has an uncanny tendency to put his foot in his mouth. He talks before thinking of the political implications of his words. He shoots from the hip.

The strength of Obasanjo, which enabled him to capture the presidency on two different occasions, was that he was perceived as a broadminded politician, not overly partial to his people in the South-West. As a matter of fact, in his first election, his people did not want him. The strength of Goodluck Jonathan, which propelled him to win the presidency, was that he was able to string together a coalition that stretched both north and south of the Niger. The weakness of Buhari is that he is totally unacceptable to people outside his region.

Buhari is a Northern regional champion. As head of state in the 1980’s, his government was unapologetically Northern. No attempt was made to balance the ticket at the top. It was the only regime in Nigeria’s history headed by two Northerners. When he seized power, Buhari put Shagari, the Northern head of state he overthrew, under house arrest. But then he jailed Alex Ekwueme, the Southern vice-president. You may well ask what makes Shagari less culpable for the misdeeds of the Second Republic than his number-two man. The simple fact was that Buhari was Fulani as was Shagari; but Ekwueme was Igbo.

Impolitic words

At the height of the Sharia debate during the Obasanjo administration, Buhari declared that Muslims should vote only for fellow Muslims. This was politically suicidal for a man seeking national office. He became an advocate for implementation of Sharia all over Nigeria. He protested to the Oyo State governor, in the context of a dispute between Fulani herdsmen and indigenous farmers in the state, that “your people are killing my people.” This turned out to be unfounded and perhaps the reverse.

His threats during the campaign for the 2011 elections incited widespread violence in the North after he lost. His supporters went on a rampage; looting and killing; in spite of the fact that, by all accounts, the elections were adjudged the most free and fair in the history of Nigeria’s current democratic experiment. By the time the mayhem had subsided, over 1000 people had been slaughtered in cold blood and some 65,000 displaced.

Forgetting that a statement made in Hausa would readily be translated into English, Buhari later declared unapologetically in a BBC interview: “If what happened in 2011 should again happen in 2015, by the grace of God, the dog and the baboon would all be soaked in blood.” These are the tokens of an irresponsible politician, whose ambitions for power supersede the national interest. Who then are the dogs and baboons that Buhari has in mind to soak in blood if and when he loses yet again come 2015? Are they his children or are they those of others?

With the Boko Haram insurgency in the north, Buhari played to the Northern gallery yet again, calling the Jonathan government “the biggest Boko Haram.” Wole Olaniyi was a fly in the wall at a meeting in Kano Government House designed to persuade PDP rebel governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, to decamp to the APC. Assuming that only Northerners were present, Buhari declared the Boko Haram was a “strategic plan” by the government of Goodluck Jonathan to “destroy the North.” When Jonathan declared a state of emergency in Yobe, Borno and Adamawa states, Buhari still saw this with Northern goggles, insinuating that the President is waging war on the North.

President of the North

Without a doubt, Buhari has massive support in the North. Indeed, he is the most popular Northern politician in the North today. But that precisely remains his undoing at the centre. The more he has been identified as a Northern champion, the less attractive he has become as a national choice. Even in the North, his support base is limited to the Muslim population. He does not appeal to Northern Christians. Then there is the added factor of the opposition of his implacable opponents among the Northern elite. Men like Babangida and Atiku would rather die than allow Buhari get to Aso Rock.

One thing is certain, the South-South and the South-East will not vote for Buhari in 2015. Not only that; there are no buyers for Buhari’s sectarian politics in the South-West. No matter what Tinubu might be telling him, the people of the South-West will not vote for Buhari in 2015. We already had the template in 2011, when Buhari tried to sell himself, first by balancing his ticket with a Yoruba man; and then by making sure the Yoruba man is a Christian; a pastor no less. But it just did not wash. It will not work in 2015.

The worst thing that can happen to Northern presidential aspirations in 2015 is for Buhari to be on the APC ballot. That is a sure guarantee that the North will not be providing the next president. Buhari would be a shoo-in in an election for president of Northern Nigeria. But in an election encompassing the entire country, the best he can envisage is to be a kingmaker. He cannot be king. The nearest Buhari will get to Aso Rock in 2015 is by attending the Council of State meetings.

Buhari’s entire career based on falsehood - Femi Fani Kayode

Towards2015! PDP Presidential Campaign media director, Femi Fani Kayode says the inability of APC presidential flag bearer, Gen Buhari to produce his academic credentials to INEC indicates that his entire career in the military was based on falsehood, a situation he says brings to question the admission system into the army in the 1960s. FFK said this today while speaking to newsmen in Abuja
"It is disingenuous for Buhari to say that he contested previous elections and that the issue of his qualifications did not arise. Had INEC not complied with the Electoral Act this year, which requires that they paste the academic credentials of all the presidential candidates, Nigerians would have remained ignorant of the fact that Buhari has probably been submitting affidavits for the past elections. The fact that he got away with it in 2003, 2007 and 2011 does not make it right.

Retired Generals will Support Buhari - IBB

General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida

By Aisha Wakaso in Minna
General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida has stated that the retired Generals will support the aspiration of ‎ the
All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate.
According to Babangida who made this known when Buhari paid him a visit at his Uphill residence in Minna,  they will support their own.
He stated that he is proud of the persistence and perseverance of Buhari in seeking to offer himself for service at the highest level in the country's young democracy.
"You have beaten some of us in proving Gen. Douglas Mc'Arthur's theory that, 'old soldiers never die but fade away gradually, but you have refused to fade away," he told Buhari.
He then commended APC for honouring the military by nominating Buhari.
"I wish to congratulate members of the party for the honour of nominating my colleague, General Muhammadu Buhari as your presidential candidate in 2015 election," he said.
Babangida accused the media of misrepresentation of his relationship with Buhari, adding that it is far from what is being reported.
"You media men have created this impression that we are fighting each other. Look at us here today; he knows what I mean and I know what he means. We both fought to keep Nigeria one when we were young majors then. We were well travelled.

I Have No godfather And Will Rule Lagos Without One- Jimi Agbaje

Giving hope to the hopelessness! PDP Lagos State candidate Jimi AGbaje has said he has no godfather and he intends to rule Lagos without one, stating that what Lagos is currently facing is the problem of godfather which Lagosians must be delivered of.
Agbaje stated this while addressing journalists in Lagos on Sunday.
“When it was time to choose my running mate, I chose my running mate, nobody chose her for me. The issue of a godfather hampering service delivery is not even on the table. I don’t have a godfather. I want the people to believe me that it won’t happen.”

Buhari: I Had a Cold, Not Cancer

  • Accuses PDP of misinformation on PTF, certificate saga   • APC rejects plan to impose interim govt
Onyebuchi Ezigbo in Abuja

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), has expressed his frustration over the campaign of calumny by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against him, dismissing allegations propagated by the ruling party over his health, his stewardship at the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) and the controversy over his failure to submit photocopies of his academic credentials to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Buhari, who spoke on Sunday at the Rivers State Governor's Lodge, Abuja, alongside the APC governorship candidate in Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, and former Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, described as unfortunate the amount of energy dissipated by PDP on his health and academic credentials.

Man City 0-2 Arsenal: Fantastic Gunners Slap the defending Champions

rsz_lmk-040663
Arsenal produced one of their best displays of the season after beating Manchester City 2-0 at the Etihad stadium in their English Premier League game on Sunday.

The outcome of the game seems to have changed the destiny of the Premier League title with Chelsea now having the upper hand after the defending champions were beaten at their own ground.

Last season Manchester City rolled over Arsenal with a convincing 6-3 victory in the same fixture, but they struggled to find a way to breach David Ospina.

With Yaya Toure missing for Manchester City, currently on international duty with Ivory Coast at the 2015 African Nations Cup, coach Manuel Pellegrini's team lacked power and thrust to get behind Arsenal.

New Auto Law Compels Toyota, Honda to Manufacture Vehicles in Nigeria

CarFactory-012

Great development stride as The Federal Government in a new automotive bill is set to compel any automobile firm selling above 10,000 vehicles per annum in Nigeria to establish a local assembly plant or be ready to quit the market, Punch reports.

“The new law, which will give a legal backing to the auto policy of the Federal Government, should be ready in April. The bill has passed the second reading. And any auto company that is selling 10,000 passenger cars must have an assembly plant here,” Director-General, National Automotive Council, Mr. Aminu Jalal said.

According to him the bill has already passed the second reading at the Senate.

“We expect Volkswagen, Honda, Tata, Coscharis Motors and Globe Motors to start assembly operations this year,” he added. Finger's crossed

APC Rejects Interim Government

APC National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed

Onyebuchi Ezigbo in Abuja
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said it will neither accept an interim government nor a postponement of next month's elections as being advocated by certain individuals, saying the elections must hold as scheduled on Feb. 14th and 28th 2015.
In a statement issued on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party warned that any attempt to scuttle the polls in preference for any other arrangement will be resisted by all available constitutional means.
''We are aware that those who are not comfortable with the turning of the political tide in favour of the opposition ahead of the elections are scheming to abort a possible victory for our party, through either an interim government or a postponement of the elections.
''These enemies of Nigeria include those who are worried by the strong anti-corruption stance of our party and its avowed commitment to good governance, and those who favour the status quo of anything goes, bad governance and massive corruption that have left Nigerians deeply pauperized and traumatized,'' it said.
APC said those who may consider the two scenarios of interim government and postponement of the elections as outlandish should consider the published but yet-unrefuted statement by one Deji Adeyanju, said to be an official in the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe.

Keyamo says Jonathan can’t fight corruption, insurgency

…asks elite to stand up for Nigeria
By Emmanuel Aziken, Political Editor
Lagos lawyer Festus Keyamo has spurned his fellow Niger Deltan, President Goodluck Jonathan and endorsed All Progressives Congress, APC candidate for the presidential election, General Muhammadu Buhari, saying the President has proved his incapacity to fight corruption.
Keyamo in a statement made available to Vanguard, yesterday, said the President’s decision to appoint a money-laundering suspect who he, Keyamo is prosecuting on behalf of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, was a great act of indiscretion.
Keyamo also dismissed assertions of Buhari’s lack of a certificate as a non-issue just as he flayed the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for focussing its campaign on the personality of the APC candidate instead of on issues.
While enjoining Nigerian elite to move from the fence, he said: “We have a President who has no single appetite to fight corruption – yes, none. Imagine a campaign that is dominated by the theme of corruption, yet the President has decided to appoint a person facing trial for money-laundering as his Director of Media and Publicity.
“If nobody would say it, I will say it because I am the one prosecuting the fellow in court and the case has been adjourned to February 23 and 24 for trial. Part of the lies told is that the fellow has been freed whereas some of the counts in the charge were just struck out and the court held that he has a case to answer on some other counts. Yet nobody is asking the President these hard questions.
“All the personal attacks on the person of Buhari in the last few weeks have only convinced me that he is the best available option at this time. Anyone on the weaker side in any argument always resorts to personal abuses and attacks. Have you noticed that on corruption, the only accusation against Buhari is that, he was too high-handed in fighting corruption in the past?”
In other words, nobody has accused him of lacking the courage, zeal and will to fight corruption.
“In one of his famous interviews, Jonathan did not see stealing as corruption.

I think I can handle everyday sex – Adediwura

My first meeting with Adediwura Adesegha almost got off on a wrong footing because both of us somewhat had our heads below water. But before we could really had a go at each other, we found a click somewhere and hit it off on a good note. It was then I realised this ebony beauty is something special. Even though I got off without being scratched she still managed to leave me with bitter after-taste; “ You are free to write whatsoever you deemed fit, I laugh over news,” she sternly told me.
Long story short – I met this Yoruba Nollywood damsel, in her late thirties, who would rather shoot prisoners than take them in and we got talking, on any issue under the sun. She’s a graduate of English from Lagos State University and has been acting since 2008. Her friends and fans call her the Blackgold on account of a role she played out at a point in her career.
Adediwura-Blarkgold
Like I said before, she doesn’t take prisoners, and when we got talking about sex and what it could mean to her getting landed with a guy that has all the manly qualities without the drive to satisfy a woman in bed. she wouldn’t hold anything back, she let me have it all. My lifestyle doesn’t revolve around any man, if you can’t satisfy me in bed, I will let you know you cannot satisfy me .We will find a way out. Is it not about making love? I will tell you this is the way I want you to do it. Give it to me this way. I am an adult, I see no reason why I should shy away from that if I really think he is okay enough for me,” she said
“Sex is a free style, it depends on one’s opinion. If you are an adult why shouldn’t you have it? It has to do with the individual. It is not something to be discussed generally. My own view about sex is enjoying yourself. If I feel like having it, I will. If I don’t feel like, then I keep myself. I can decide to have it Monday to Friday, if I have the strength and if the man is there for me. I think my power can condone everyday sex.It depends on what I want at that moment,” she added. But as a heavily frontally endowed woman, Adediwura believes her huge boobs are not the biggest in Nollywood, she believes there are others who are ahead of her in line. “I will put myself in category C or may be category B. I have people who are in the category A like Ronke Oshodi Oke or Foluke Daramola,” she said
(Note: look out for her full interview on Saturday Jan’ 24th)

Pope hugs little girl who asked him why God allows little girls become prostitutes

Information reaching is that! Pope Francis who is currently in the Philippines was moved to hug these two children after one of them, 12 year old Glyzelle Palomar, a rehabilitated homeless girl, asked him in tears why God could allow children to become prostitutes.
"Many children get involved in drugs and prostitution. Why does God allow these things to happen to us? The children are not guilty of anything.” Palomar said during her speech at a Catholic mass
Pope Francis who couldn't find an immediate answer for her question, got up and gave a hug. He later replied her and the congregation saying
“She is the only one who has put forward a question for which there is no answer and she was not even able to express it in words but rather in tears. I invite each one of you to ask yourselves, 'Have I learned how to weep, how to cry when I see a hungry child, a child on the street who uses drugs, a homeless child, an abandoned child, an abused child, a child that society uses as a slave?” He said

Shocking sad news! Actor Muna Obiekwe has died

Shocking and Yes, it's true! Actor Muna Obiekwe has died. He died yesterday around 4:15pm in a hospital in Lagos after a battle with kidney failure. A colleague said for over two weeks before he died didn't go for his dialysis.

Muna needed money for his health problems but instead of going public to raise money, he told friends he was planning a stage play to raise money but died before he could do it. Unbelievably sad!

Meanwhile, there's some twitter handle called @MunaObiekwe that's denying his death. That is not Muna! Unfortunately the real one is gone. Unbelievable! RIP to a great actor! So sad..........................

FG reduces pump price of fuel; statement by the Petroleum Minister

What Diezani Alison-Madueke said this evening as she announced a reduction in fuel price...
As you may be aware, there has been a lot of volatility in the oil market in the past few months and due to this the importation prices of our petroleum products have been impacted.
Therefore, with the approval and directive of Mr. President and by virtue of Section 6 clause 1 of the Nigerian Petroleum Act, it is my responsibility as Minister of Petroleum Resources to hereby announce a reduction in the pump price of Petroleum Motor Spirit (Petrol) from the current Ninety Seven Naira (=N=97) per litre pump price down to Eighty Seven Naira (=N87=) per litre pump price, effective from twelve (12) midnight Sunday, 18th of January 2015.
Accordingly, I have directed the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) and the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) to ensure strict compliance of this price adjustment by all marketing companies.

It is my hope that all Nigerians will benefit from this adjustment.  I thank you and God Bless you all. Good news and let us key into no matter the timing.....

Linda Ikeji's 'I'd Rather Be Self-made' N10million grant begins

In 2013, I told y'all that I'm going to start something called 'I'd Rather Be Self-made'... where I will personally mentor young girls with dreams and aspirations and help some of them start up small scale businesses. I've been procrastinating for over a year & a half and now I am finally ready to do this.

'I'd Rather Be Self-made' is not a foundation, or an organization (I can't handle that - blogging takes too much of my time), it's just me and some young ladies meeting whenever we can, inspire each other, exchange business ideas, and if I feel someone has a great business idea and it's not going to cost too much to start the business, I will personally finance it. Not as a loan, it's 100% to the person. I'm looking at N250k to N1million per person, depending on how great the business idea is. If you need less, you will get the money faster...:-). I'll also use LIB to promote your businesses. All I want in return is for you to work hard, make a success of your business and pay it forward...i.e help others. And if you ever see me on the street after you make it, you can say hello or give me a hug...:-)

Muhammad Ali's advice to his daughters..............Inspiring

An incident transpired when Muhammad Ali’s daughters arrived at his home wearing clothes that were quite revealing. Here is the story as told by one of his daughters:
“When we finally arrived, the chauffeur escorted my younger sister, Laila, and me up to my father’s suite. As usual, he was hiding behind the door waiting to scare us. We exchanged many hugs and kisses as we could possibly give in one day. My father took a good look at us. Then he sat me down on his lap and said something that I will never forget. He looked me straight in the eyes and said, “Hana, everything that God made valuable in the world is covered and hard to get to. Where do you find diamonds? Deep down in the ground, covered and protected. Where do you find pearls? Deep down at the bottom of the ocean, covered up and protected in a beautiful shell. Where do you find gold? Way down in the mine, covered over with layers and layers of rock. You've got to work hard to get to them.” He looked at me with serious eyes. “Your body is sacred. You’re far more precious than diamonds and pearls, and you should be covered too.”

As Campaigns Hot up, Candidates Intensify Mutual Accusations

  •    PDP tackles Obasanjo, APC on Buhari’s stewardship at PTF, health, certificate
  • APC: we’ll address certificate issue at “appropriate” time, says Buhari fit as a fiddle

As the campaign for the February 14 presidential election gathers momentum each day with the countrywide tour by the political parties, the two main contenders have intensified a battle of wits targeted at each other’s perceived soft underbelly. The campaign organisation for the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan, accused former President Olusegun Obasanjo of covering up acts of fraud allegedly committed by the All Progressive Congress presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, when he was chairman of the defunct Petroleum Trust Fund.
The Jonathan campaign team, in a statement on Saturday by its director of media and publicity, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode, also took issue with APC about Buhari’s health status and his alleged inability to produce his educational certificates.

Alcohol and Energy Drinks A Dangerous Combo, Study Says

Researchers have published a study that shows college students combining caffeinated drinks with booze don’t realize how intoxicated they really are.

In a study published in the Journal of Adolescent Health, researchers at the Institute for Social Research at the University of Michigan have concluded that mixing alcohol and energy drinks poses a serious public health risk, especially among college students. "We found that college students tended to drink more heavily, become more intoxicated, and have more negative drinking consequences on days they used both energy drinks and alcohol, compared to days they only used alcohol," said Megan Patrick, a research assistant professor and co-author of the study.
According to the study, students who either drank alcohol and energy drinks on the same day or who combined the two at the same time wound up spending more time drinking – thus consuming more alcohol – than they would have without the caffeinated drinks. The result of spending more hours drinking raised users' blood alcohol levels to higher peaks. But because of the stimulant effects of the energy drinks, the users reported that they felt less drunk than they actually were. "This can have serious potential health impacts, for example if people don't realize how intoxicated they actually are and decide to drive home," Patrick said.
But a similar study conducted by the Department of Community Health at the Boston University School of Public Health found that it wasn’t necessarily the combination of alcohol and caffeine that posed a risk, but the profile of the drinkers themselves that led to negative consequences. "It appears that the consumption of caffeinated alcoholic beverages has a direct effect on increasing risk by masking intoxication and making it easier for youth to consume more alcohol,” said Dr. Michael Siegel, one of the authors of the Boston University’s study. “It also appears that consumption of alcohol with caffeine may itself be a marker for youth who engage in riskier behavior.”

PVC Cloning: APC Flays DG, DSS, Plans Retaliation

                                            DG, DSS, Mr. Ita Ekpeyong

The last may not have been heard from the ongoing disagreement between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Department of State Security (DSS) over the alleged plan to clone the Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs).
This is as top politicians from the opposition party are said to be angry with the conduct of the Director General of the DSS, Mr. Ita Ekpeyong, over his handling of the allegations.
The party, confident that it would win the February presidential poll, has allegedly pencilled down officers in the service and other security agencies that would be kicked out as soon as it is inaugurated.
THISDAY checks revealed that still not happy with the embarrassment it suffered in the hands of the DSS, a secret meeting attended by 13 top officials of the party recently came to the conclusion that the DG must be dealt with if there is a change of baton at the federal level in the February election.
The meeting, held in the wee hours of January 7, was hosted in the capital city of one of the South-west states.
It was said to have been attended by two serving governors, a former governor and other top politicians from South and Northern parts of the country.
Sources confirmed that the political leaders at the meeting indicated that the opposition should start looking at what it would do in the event that it wins the presidential election.

How Long Will Nigerians Remain Fools? Etcetera Writes

In Nigeria, there are three classes of people: The Masses, The Politicians, and The Rich. The masses are the puppets, the politicians the hand that controls the puppets and the rich the hand that controls the politicians. The politicians have the system totally rigged in their favour. They have made it compulsory for the masses to vote from a list selected by them knowing that as blind as the masses are, they may never realise they can actually have a choice.
In the upcoming presidential election, the masses have been given no choice but to choose between two candidates forced upon them by the politicians. What if Buhari and Goodluck Jonathan are not exactly what the masses want? Are we going to have recourse when they fail as they always do, to honour their promises?
There seems to be a spot in every Nigerian, a soft spot in our consciousness like the one in a baby’s head, which, if pressed or stroked in the right way, reduces us to giggling children with mouths full of candy. That spot is what I call a “Mumu Button.” And any person that finds and presses that mumu button in Nigerians is on the road to wealth and power. As a youth, my faith in this nation is disappearing like a fart in a wind storm. I have seen that even the most intelligent and educated Nigerians, when you press their mumu button, they turn into docile drooling puppy dogs, panting happily.

At least two churches have been set on fire in the capital of Niger amid fresh protests against French magazine Charlie Hebdo's cartoon depicting Prophet Muhammad, BBC reports.

The French embassy had warned its citizens to stay indoors before now.
Last week, Islamist gunmen killed 12 people at the magazine's Paris office. Eight of them were journalists, with subsequent attacks in Paris, which killed another five people, four at a Jewish supermarket.
The cover of the magazine's latest edition, published after the attack, featured a cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad weeping while holding a sign saying "I am Charlie".

I Suffered So Much That I Had To Go To Parties To Beg For Food- Sean Tizzle

In Entertainment world! Sean Tizzle in a new interview with Nigerian Tribune has revealed what a lot of people will find shocking about him. According to Sean, he suffered so much that he had to go to parties to beg for food, and then help out later on for little change. Here’s what he said;

Those days were very rough, but we thank God that we have been able to sail through. I used to sleep outside, hustle and fall asleep in buses. I also used to go to owanbe parties not to dance, because I didn’t have party clothes to wear, but I used to go because they had food. So at least at the end of the party, I could help out, get a little change, then go find shelter somewhere and continue my hustle the next day.

Woman dies hours after giving birth to quadruplets: Photo

Not really a good news! As 36 year old woman named Erica Morales (pictured) died hours after giving birth on Thursday Jan. 15th to quadruplets in a Phoenix hospital.
Erica Morales was about seven months pregnant when she delivered the babies — three girls and a boy — at Banner Good Samaritan hospital, Nicole Todman, a family friend, told the news organization.
But she died before ever getting a chance to see the babies she and her husband had long hoped for, Todman said.
Morales initially went to the hospital for high blood pressure, according to Todman, who added she was unsure of how exactly her friend died.
The hospital would not provide that information, the AP reported.
