The Nigerian military has rescued and freed large number of vulnerable
women and elderly locked up by the retreating Boko Haram terrorist in
the liberated town of Gwoza, Borno State.
The Director of Defence Information (DDI), Maj-Gen. Chris Olukolade
disclosed this in a statement on Monday, saying that the discovery was
made in their ongoing mopping up operations.
"A number of women, the elderly and children who were locked up by
fleeing terrorists in Gwoza have been freed by troops as cordon and
search along with mopping up operations continue in the town", Olukolade
said.
According to him, the freed hostages some of whom were so weak, are
being given medical attention while others are also receiving necessary
care pending the arrival and activities of aid agencies.
