Two goals from Chilean striker, Alexis Sanchez gave the Arsene Wenger's men the all important victory over championship side, Reading FC on Saturday.

Arsenal, who were excused from premier league action this week due to their FA Cup fixture defeated Reading 2-1 to reach the FA Cup final at Wembley stadium.

Sanchez gave Arsenal the lead in the 40th minute of the encounter, but Garath McCleary returned the favour to give his side a lifeline in the game.

Szczesny nearly made a mess of Nathaniel Chalobah's shot from distance, palming it away to safety, while Aaron Ramsey missed a glorious chance to put the Gunners ahead by striking the post from within the six-yard box with only a man on the line to beat.

The game had ended 1-1 in normal regulation time and the former Barcelona forward, struck again on the stoppage time of the first half of added time.

Wenger and his boys will now face the winners of Sunday's other semi-final clash between Aston Villa and Liverpool (15:00 BST kick-off) as they look to lift a record 12th FA Cup.

"It was a difficult game against a very resilient, well-organised, physically very strong side. They were a committed Reading team who were comparable to what we faced last year against Wigan Athletic. We have improved a bit because we needed the penalties last year but it meant we got through."

" We had a lot of possession - I think we had 23 shots on goal and 72 per cent possession - but it was still difficult to find space because they defended very well. I was surprised how strong they were in the challenges. In the second half they became even stronger in the challenges and we suffered a little bit then, and lost some balls that we’re not used to losing. In the end we were a bit lucky because their goalkeeper made the mistake and I can understand that. He kept them in the game as well for long periods."
