In a press release to the general public, Ondo State Government has been able to curtail the further spread of a strange ailment that broke out in Ode-Irele which was discovered to have been caused by methanol poison in locally made alcohol.
Briefing Journalists at the conference hall of the state Ministry of Health, the Commissioner, Dr. ‘Dayo Adeyanju, said that no new case of the ailment has been recorded in the last two weeks.
According to Adeyanju, 23 people died from the outbreak and out of the ten victims still alive and receiving treatment, two have regained their sights while four other are partially blind.
He added that government is continuing the sensitization of the people of Ode-Irele and it’s environs on avoiding the consumption of the poisoned alcohol.

further informed that the ministry officials are working with the
National Agency for Foods, Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to
ensure the local alcohol are of good quality.
