Lagos—Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of
Lagos State yesterday retired 15 Permanent Secretaries in the state
civil service. Nineteen others were also appointed.
Among those retired with immediate effect, was the boss of Lagos Radio/Television, Adekunle Ajanaku.
It was only in January last year that former boss of the Lagos Radio
Television Lekan Ogunbanwo was moved to Parastatals Monitoring Office.
Ajanaku was formerly of the Deputy Governor’s office.
The governor, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Habib
Aruna, said the appointments are in line with his drive to restructure
the civil service for efficient performance and service delivery.
The development is also coming on the heels of the streamlining of
some existing Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) aimed at
ensuring greater efficiency.
The new permanent secretaries, the statement said, have been deployed across board in the new structure of the civil service.
According to reliable sources, the wave which swept away the
officials, resulted from alleged ‘unprofessional conduct’, incompetence
and misappropriation of funds, allegedly committed during the
immediate past administration.
It was also gathered that some permanent secretaries, who could have
been affected in the sack were advised earlier to proceed on retirement.
The names of the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries are Mr.
Bamgboye Abiodun; Mrs. Dapo-Thomas Aderemi; Mrs. Ariyo Olabisi; Mrs.
Adekanye Elizabeth; Mr. Bode Agoro; Dr. (Mrs.) Ayandele Olufolayimika
Abiose; Dr. (Mrs.) Sodeinde Ibironke; Mr. Odeyemi Adesina; Mrs. Odulana
Olufunmilayo.
Others are Mrs. Onisarotu Jemil; Engr. Bade-Adebowale Caster; Mrs.
Amosu Ayodele; Mr. Kadiri Adebisi; Mrs. Anifowoshe Abiola; Mr. Adeyemi
Anthony; Dr. Oduwole Elizabeth; Mr. Mustapha Olorunfemi; Mrs.
Odunlami Adesola and Mr. Odupitan Olusola.
Governor Ambode is expected to swear in the new Permanent Secretaries tomorrow.
