According to Ripples, One-time Secretary General of the United Nations Boutros Boutros-Ghali who served the world body in a topsy-turvy five-year term which ended in 1996 died Tuesday in his native Cairo, Egypt.
As a sign of honour, the UN Security Council observed a minute of silence for the diplomat who was replaced by another African, Ghanaian Kofi Annan.
