1. More than 15,000 education staff in Turkey have been suspended after last week's failed coup.
2. More than 1,500 university deans have also been ordered to resign by Turkey's high education board.
3. 6,000 military personnel have been arrested, with more than two dozen generals awaiting trial
4. 9,000 police officers have been sacked
5. Almost 3,000 judges have been suspended
6. More than 250 staff in Mr Yildirim's office have been removed
7. Turkey's media regulation body on Tuesday also revoked the licenses
of 24 radio and TV channels accused of links to Mr Gulen.
8. Turkey President has been angling for the death penalty.
9. Turkey PM has suggested that those accused (mostly without any evidence) should commit suicide (even before trial).
10. During the active moment of the coup, without any evidence, he accused a US based rival of complicity in the coup. My verdict:
1. The President of Turkey is a Mugabe in the making. Apparently, he is
power drunk. How do thousands of people across key sectors jointly plan
a coup?
2. There is the possibility that there was never a coup and
that he orchestrated the entire fiasco in order to clamp down on
growing influence against him taking advantage of the mood of the masses
and their devotion to democracy. The military guys were the pawns. This
is perhaps why they were confused when faced with the choice of using
their weapon. They had no clear determined leadership. If you want to
know what real coups are and what soldiers do on such occasions - ask
Africans. The Erdoğan soldiers were grovelling before civilians
