Reports: Daily Mail
A teenager, dubbed Girl X, overdosed after she was repeatedly raped inside a care facility after being removed from her home as a one-year-old, an inquest has heard.
Authorities were so concerned for her welfare that she was removed from her family before her first birthday, but the 15-year-old died on April 21, 2014 after a ‘speed ball’ overdose following years of being ‘used and abused’.
Counsel assisting Donna Ward told the Glebe Coroner’s Court on Monday that the young girl had been dragged into criminal activity, probably prostituted, had been injecting hard drugs and cut ‘I hate feelings’ into her leg.
‘(She had been) tragically used and abused by many of the people she should have been able to rely on for comfort and care,’ Ms Ward told a packed courtroom.
The night before her death, it’s believed she injected a ‘speed ball’ – a dangerous combination of heroin and speed, while living at a residential care home.
