BREAKING: Court Rules that Tambuwal remains Reps Speaker

Information reaching is that A federal high court sitting in the federal capital territory, Abuja, on Monday ruled that Rt. Hon. Aminu Tambuwal is and remains the Speaker of the House of Representatives, hence the status quo should be maintained by all parties.
The judge also ordered that the House of Reps shall not reconvene until the 3rd December date that has been approved by Speaker Tambuwal. The court warned all those planning to re-open the House from the back door before the date approved by Tambuwal not to even contemplate such action.
Consequently, the hearing of the substantive suit shall commence on Friday in Abuja.

Pastor Tunde Bakare of the Latter Rain Assembly, will on the 11th of November turn 60. And in a very revealing interview with TheNewsNigeria to mark his coming birthday, the man of God explained why he suddenly abandoned Deeper Life after being there for 5 years. Excerpts:
    You were in Deeper Life and The Redeemed churches. At what point did you decide to open your own and why?
    That’s what you call memory lane. I was in Deeper Life for five years, between 1978 and December 1983. Brother Kumuyi was and is still a great teacher of the Word. The person that put the fear of God in me was Brother Kumuyi. He laid the foundation for systematic teaching that many people see me do today.
    However, I rose through the ranks. I preached while I was there and conducted youth meetings. I was doing some legal works for the ministry also. I registered some of their companies.
    But one day, while I was ministering and a brother was interpreting, I was giving example of the “faith
cometh by hearing and hearing the word of God” and I said, ‘Supposing you go to a supermarket to buy soap, you might not know what soap to buy but because you watched the advertisement of Joy soap on television, then you would look for Joy soap because you have been hearing about it.’ And my interpreter said: “If you have been watching the devil’s box…”

Wonder shall never end as a barman, Simeon Tenebe, who works in a hotel around Ojodu, Lagos was badly injured ‎during an unprovoked attack by a customer who stabbed him with a bottle because he was allegedly starring at the customer and his girlfriend who he came to drink with.

According to Punch, Kelvin Friday and his girlfriend, were hanging out in the hotel around 6pm on October 21, when it happened. The victim, claimed he was thinking about something he had discussed with his sister earlier in the day when the customer came up to him, saying that he was rudely starring at them and smashed his head with the bottle of beer he was drinking...


The customer, Kelvin initially complained of Simeon's customer service when they first stepped into the hotel. Kelvin later then complained Simeon was rudely starring and challenged him to fight at which point he attacked with a bottle, seriously. His girlfriend fled the scene when Simeon started bleeding.

Kelvin Friday has since been arrested and has been charged before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court for assault

Army arrests six senior officers for fleeing Mubi attack

Six military commanders, including an injured Lieutenant Colonel, have been arrested by the military for withdrawing from Mararaba, Michika, Madagali, Mubi and later Vimtim when Boko Haram insurgents attacked the communities last week.

It was learnt that   an unspecified number of soldiers were also in detention for allegedly abandoning the communities, thereby making easy for the insurgents to have an upper hand.

A reliable military source, who made this known in Abuja on Sunday said   the movement of five of the commanders had been restricted to the officers mess in a military formation.

The source, who did not name the military formation, because of security reason, added that “one of them, a Leutenant Colonel   is receiving treatment at the MRS in Yola for   serious injuries he sustained when the car in which he was escaping with somersaulted several times.”

He said the injured officer   would join his colleagues in the officers mess on recovery.

Our source said, “Today (Sunday), the military authorities arrested five   commanders around the Mubi axis of Adamawa State. The sixth is a Lt. Col.

Dangote Slashes Cement Price to N1000/Bag

Dangote Cement Plc during the weekend announced drastic reduction in the price of cement it produces. During a management meeting, Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, GMD/CEO, of the company, Mr. Devakumar Edwin, pegged the Dangote 32.5 cement grade at N1,000 per 50 kg bag, while the higher 42.5 grade would sell for N1,150 per bag.

A statement released at the end of a management meeting said that the new prices were exclusive of the Value Added Tax, VAT, representing about 40 per cent discount on the prevailing market price of the product currently sold for N1,700 irrespective of the grade, across the country, Vanguard reports.

Pray for Nigeria, Jonathan urges Nigerians

Season of prayer as President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday called on Nigerians, particularly the clergy, to pray for the peace and stability of the country.

Jonathan spoke through the Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, during the third Bayelsa Thanksgiving Day celebration at Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre in Yenagoa, the state capital.

The President said, “I wish to urge all Nigerians to pray for the peace, unity and stability of the country. This is the time to reunite our country through prayers. Now that the 2015 general elections are approaching, people should shun do or die politics. Those seeking political offices should know that power comes from God.”

Speaking in his own capacity, Dickson said since the state House of Assembly passed the law on thanksgiving in the state, there had been peace between the lawmakers and the executive arm.

He also said the State Executive Council had also been peaceful, urging Bayelsans to continually pray for the peace and unity of the state to be able to achieve sustained socio-economic development.

Dickson urged those in leadership positions to always take service of the people seriously. According to him, power is transient.
