Germanwings plane crash: Opera singers Maria Radner and Oleg Bryjak among 150 dead

In a latest development! A beloved opera singing duo, Oleg Bryjak and Maria Radner (pictured above) are among the victims of the tragic Germanwings Airbus A320 plane crash yesterday March 24th which left 150 dead. The popular performers were returning home after a series of performances at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona when their flight smashed into the French Alps. According to LIB.

The All Progressives Congress has warned against any orchestrated, last-minute disqualification of its presidential candidate, Gen. Buhari, in order to pave the way for an easy victory for President Jonathan or even another postponement of the elections

"If it is true, as it is being widely speculated across the country, that the Jonathan Administration has procured a judgement to disqualify the APC Presidential Candidate on Wednesday, when the Federal High Court in Abuja is expected to rule on the issue, then it portends a great danger for our country,'' the party warned in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

Shocking! A plane carrying 142 passengers and six crew has crashed in the southern French Alps en route from Spain to Germany. Information revealed that the Airbus A320 was flying from Barcelona to Dusseldorf when it disappeared from radar in the Alpes de Hautes Provence at around 11am (10am GMT).

Muhammadu Buhari

In a campaign pledge certain to question his grasp of the Nigerian economy, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), on Monday promised to ensure that the naira would be equal to the dollar in value if voted into office.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that Buhari said this during the south-east presidential rally of the party at Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri.
“It is sad that the value of the naira has dropped to more than N230 to one dollar. This does not speak well for the nation’s economy,” he said without any indication that he stated how he is going to achieve this naira-dollar parity.

Investigations carried out by the police into the murder of a staff of Silverbird group, Aishat Noble-Mustapha, who was stabbed to death on Saturday March 14th, close to her home in Ogudu in Lagos, have revealed that no boyfriend of hers had a hand in her murder as widely speculated in any quarters

A staff of STV group, David Ubadike who is following the case, told Encomium magazine that the prime suspect in the case, David Ubabudike, who incidentally is one of her neighbors, cooked up the story that her boyfriend murdered her

"Aishat's killers have not been established but the police have made a few arrests. Initially they arrested one Chima Shadrack Mmuta, the prime suspect. In all, they have arrested four of her neighbors including the said Chima and one Mr Ogundimu who happen to be within the premises when the incident occurred.

The above video shows the President of America, President Barack Obama, delivering a heartwarming speech to Nigerians as they draw closer to the day of reckoning - the election date. In the speech, he commended Nigeria's progress since independence and urged Nigeria to stand strong against the scourge that is Boko Haram. Amazing! Man wake up and find £1.25m mistakenly deposited in his bank accoun

A man was baffled after he logged on to his online banking and discovered he had a mystery £1.25 MILLION in his account.
Shocked Kieran McKeefery, 21, couldn't believe his eyes when his bank balance had been boosted by the seven-figure sum.
After mulling over what he could spend the cash on, the web designer phoned his bank, Natwest, and asked them to investigate.
Bank bosses could only tell him the enormous bank-to-bank same-day payment had come from a huge investment company - and it was up to their bank to take it back.
It was an agonising 10 days before the company retrieved the cash - leaving Kieran with a bonus £210 of interest.
Honest Kieran, from Barnsley, South Yorkshire, said: "I checked my online banking and immediately I noticed I had £1.25 million in the bank.
"I was a bit fazed at first. It was such a copious amount of money to be in my bank.

Lee Kuan Yew, the statesman who transformed Singapore from a small port city into a wealthy global hub, has died at the age of 91.

The city-state's prime minister for 31 years, he was widely respected as the architect of Singapore's prosperity.
But he was criticised for his iron grip on power. Under him freedom of speech was tightly restricted and political opponents were targeted by the courts.
A state funeral will be held on 29 March, after a week of mourning.
In an emotional televised address, his son Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong paid tribute to him.
"He fought for our independence, built a nation where there was none, and made us proud to be Singaporeans. We won't see another man like him."
Mr Lee oversaw Singapore's independence from Britain and separation from Malaysia. His death was announced early on Monday. He had been in hospital for several weeks with pneumonia and was on life support.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said he was "deeply saddened" by Mr Lee's death. US President Barack Obama described him as a "giant of history". The Chinese foreign ministry called him "a uniquely influential statesman in Asia".

As revealed by the Lagos state police command have arrested 20 year old hairdresser, Gift Wahab pictured above for stabbing her live-in-lover, 28 year old Ebi Amade to death following a disagreement over feeding allowance at their home at Fasasi Street, Ajegunle, Apapa, on Thursday, March 19.

According to a report by Punch, Gift, a native of Uromi in Edo state had been living with her Bayelsa born lover since 2013 after she dropped out of school following the death of her father. On the day of the incident, the couple, who had a child that later died in December 2014 after a brief illness, fought as they returned home from an event. Question:

In understanding nature and its existence, there is a phrase used that I've heard which I am not sure I understand. The unsearchable riches of God. Why do people say, "unsearchable riches?" By reading and study of the Bible we can learn what God wants and learn what Jesus did, said, and taught. But "unsearchable riches" must mean more than I understand. Please, would you clarify this for me? I have seen this phrase in the Bible as well, but I didn't understand it there either.

It is another season of greatness for Nigerians as the country U20 defeated Senegal U20 1-0 by clinching the title for the record 7th time. Congratulations to the boys.

Shocking! Nigerian man Killed in South Africa: Graphic Photo

What a gruesome story! Some Nigerians belonging to a gang in Pretoria, South Africa, was said to have carried out the killing of a Nigerian night club owner popularly known as Ibu Adazi from Anambra state. They said he was shot dead on Tuesday March 17th by some bad boys popularly known as Umu Ita (they are a mix of Zimbabweans, Angolans, South Africans and Nigerians and are also drug addicts) as he was about to leave his club with a huge amount of money brought to him earlier in the day. Apparently six days to the election D-day, PUNCH newspaper has drawn up a comparison between the strengths and weaknesses of the more formidable presidential candidates, President Goodluck Jonathan and Gen. Muhammadu Buhari in all states in Nigeria.

PUNCH predicts a Jonathan win in Abia state due to the strong influence of his party there. With people like Governor Theodore Orji, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, former senate President Adulphus Wabara amongst others, it is expected to be a cakewalk for the president.

His marital tie - Dame Patience's mother hails from Abia state - helps matters further.

In Abuja - the iron throne of Nigeria's Westeros - it is expected that President Jonathan should, by default, hold sway here, but the PUNCH analysis says that the city of civil servants may currently be equally divided between Jonathan and Buhari.

Although there is PDP influence here, there is also formidable APC influence as well. While President Jonathan has lived here for the past six years, one cannot dismiss the fact that Abuja is primarily Northern territory and thus Buhari-inclined.
