Kendrick Lamar investigated for brutal beating of a woman in a Las Vegas Hotel Room

A former female security guard who worked at The Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas released a video recently claiming that rapper Kendrick Lamar was investigated for allegedly brutally beating a woman and leaving her bloody in a room in the hotel. The guard claimed the battered woman called them for help and when they got to the room, found her in a terrible state. But the guard never said she saw Kendrick lay hands on the woman. This happened in May. What she said below…

“On Memorial Day Weekend . . . so I get dispatched up to one of the rooms to help some girl get down to the casino. She ends up being all bloody and things, so I had to call my supervisor, then I had to call my other supervisor, then I had to call my boss. And I was like, “We have a situation,” because half of her face was like blown out.”

Come to find out that she was with a certain rapper, who had assaulted her . . . and his first name is [Kendrick]. [Audience aks if she means Kendrick Lamar]. Yeah. . . He beat up some chick, [and] there was like blood everywhere.

There were cops there, and we didn’t find out it was Kendrick until later. . . She ended up pressing charges, I think.
Kendrick was in Vegas in May to perform at the Rehab Pool Party. But the incident never made news. Kendrick is yet to respond to the accusations.

Hotel occupancy drops by 50% in Lagos

The effect of the Ebola virus is gradually taking its toll on businesses in the country, with hotel occupancy and the inbound load factor for air travel dropping by an average of 50 per cent in Nigeria’s commercial capital, THISDAY has learnt.
The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Financial Derivatives Company Limited (FDC), Mr. Bismarck Rewane, who confirmed this, revealed that in the Ikoyi area of Lagos, hotel occupancy had nosedived from 65 per cent to about 30 per cent, while in Victoria Island, where hotel occupancy is higher, investigations showed that it had also fallen from about 70 per cent, down to about 20 per cent since the outbreak of the virus.
Similarly, dinning and restaurant traffic in major hotels in the state has also declined by 50 per cent.
When contacted, a manager of one of the leading hotels in Lagos who did not want his name in print, confirmed a 50 per cent drop in dinning and restaurant traffic.

“I will sue the Australian negotiator who accused me of sponsoring Boko Haram” – Alimodu Sheriff

Australian hostage negotiator, Stephen Davis, who was negotiating with Boko Haram on behalf of the Nigerian government, to free the over 200 abducted Chibok school girls, has made numerous allegations about who is sponsoring Boko Haram and how the terrorist group is being funded.

Last week, it was revealed that Davis accused prominent Nigerian politicians, including former Borno State governor, Alimodu Sheriff, of being primary Boko Haram sponsors. He also alleged that the insurgents are being funded through CBN.

During a press conference which was held today, Sheriff denied the allegations against him, and said he would sue Davis, AIT reports.

THE Government, on Wednesday, warned that the Boko Haram sect must not be allowed to establish fresh links with the self-styled Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
This was as it called the parties involved in combating terrorism to continue to break any operational link between Boko Haram, Al Qaeda, El Shabab and other terrorist networks in the Sahel.

At a meeting in Abuja, which had representatives from China, Canada, United Kingdom (UK), United States (US) and other neighbouring countries in attendance, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aminu Wali, stated that Nigeria was bothered because the terrorists singled out the country for atacks.
Wali told the meeting that the government was not aware of any model for prosecuting the war on terror, just as history and experience of countries that had faced the challenge of terrorism revealed no quick fixes.
He disclosed that the country was bothered about sponsors of the sect, as well as sources of its sophisticated arms and ammunition.

FG approves release of Unity Schools’ admission list

THE Federal Government, on Wednesday, approved the release of the 2014 admissions into Federal Government Colleges across the country.
Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Wike, who gave the approval in Abuja, said he was satisfied with the admission exercise conducted by the National Examination Council (NECO).
He had, accordingly, directed all prospective candidates to check their admission status online through the portal address: www.fmeinterviewtest.com.
As a result of fierce competition and the need to get the most qualified candidates, the Federal Government ,this year, re-introduced aptitude tests in the admission processes into the Unity Schools.
This new initiative saw the prospective candidates writing two different examinations .
The minister, declared during the conduct of the aptitude test that merit will henceforth, play a major role in the admission of students into the 104 Federal Unity Colleges.

He insisted that merit be placed above other considerations such as catchment area, environmental factors and state quota because of the need to inculcate the right values in the future generations.
The Minister said that the re-introduction of aptitude tests in the admission of Federal Unity Colleges was aimed at ensuring that only the qualified candidates are admitted into the Federal Unity Colleges.
He said: “This successful conduct of the aptitude test is a step towards enthroning merit in our federal unity colleges. We have re-positioned these schools in terms of facilities and quality of teachers, hence subscription for placements have increased tremendously.”
Approving the release of the admission list, Barr. Wike, said that from reports he received from independent monitors across Nigeria, the aptitude tests went on peacefully because of measures put in place by the Federal Ministry of Education and National Examination Council.
He assured Nigerians that the Jonathan administration will continue to consolidate on the gains of the successes recorded in the basic education sector.

Interviewer Piers Morgan has quit US cable network CNN after four years, despite being offered a chance to extend his tenure there.

Morgan said on Twitter that he has decided to "try pastures new" after the station's boss asked him to remain for another two years.
The deal would have seen him host a series of 40 interview specials.
Morgan took over from veteran talk show host Larry King, but his show was axed in March due to falling ratings.
The primetime programme launched in January 2011 to audiences of around two million, but they dwindled to some 270,000.

Mr. Edwin Devakumar

Dangote Cement Plc yesterday announced that it had reviewed the price of cement in the country downwards with about N100 slashed off the original price of each 50 kilogramme bag of cement.

According to the Managing Director of the company, Mr. Edwin Devakumar, who spoke to journalists in Lagos, beginning from today, distributors lifting cement from the various Dangote cement plants across the country, will pay N100 less per 50 kilogramme bag of cement.

Devakumar also stated that to further comply with the ongoing Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) directive and regulation on the various classes of cement and their prescribed uses, “Dangote Cement Plc has announced plans to launch its brand of the premium 32.5 cement grade, selling for N200 lower per bag than the price of the higher strength 42.5 grade.”

The managing director said the 32.5 cement grade from the stable of Dangote Cement was also to ensure consumers pay the right price for the right value so that consumers would not be paying more for lower grade as is presently the case.

Blu Cantrell 'Hit 'Em Up Style' Singer Hospitalized After Ranting ..

Singer Blu Cantrell went running through the streets, ranting about people trying to kill her last night ... until police took her into custody for psychological evaluation ... TMZ has learned.

Cantrell went seemingly berserk in a Santa Monica neighborhood around 2 AM on Wednesday. Witnesses tell us she was screaming about someone giving her "poisonous gas." The episode went on long enough that someone called police.

We're told when officers arrived, Blu -- famous for her 2001 hit "Hit 'Em Up Style (Oops!)" -- played the "do you know who I am card" ... but also referred to herself as a "one hit wonder."

Law enforcement sources tell us cops took Blu to a nearby hospital where doctors checked her out. We're attempting to reach a rep to get an update on Blu's condition, but so far ... no luck.

From his relationship with Banky W, the drug rumours and of course the sex tape scandal, in the ‘No church in the wild’ by Kanye West and Jay Z cover, the singer rapped: ‘Them say I was caught hands down in a video, them dey run their mouth everyday like radio; nor be me dey the video, (It wasn’t me) dem just put me for gbege na bad man way, only jah go judge their ways.’ The song also featured former EME label mate Skales. Some years later, all seems to have been forgotten and this scandal never had an adverse effect on his career.

FIFA issue Nigeria final warning: Solve NFF crisis or be banned by Monday

World football governing body,FIFA has given Nigeria until Monday to ratify the crisis within the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) or receive an automatic ban.

The NFF has been plagued with crises,following power tussles over the leadership of the federation.

FIFA warned the Chris Giwa led faction to vacate the office and for him to stop parading himself as the president of the NFF.

Initially,the warning was meant to have lasted this past Monday but after entreaties from the Confederation of African Football(CAF),Nigeria was afforded the grace to play this weekend's 2015 Nations Cup against Congo DR.

Another Ebola Patient Dies in Port Harcourt

Another patient has been killed by the deadly #Ebola virus in Port Harcourt, Nigeria's oil city on Wednesday, bringing total deaths from the virus in Nigeria to seven.

The latest death was a patient at the isolation ward in the oil city, where a doctor died on August 22 after treating a man who had brought the disease into the state.

The other five deaths were in the financial capital, Lagos. Four were healthcare workers who had treated the Liberian, Patrick Sawyer #Vanguard says.

Health ministry spokesman Dan Nwomeh said 18 people, including the deceased, had now been confirmed as having the virus in Nigeria — 14 in Lagos and four in Port Harcourt, 435 kilometres (270 miles) away.

A total of 41 people were under surveillance in Lagos and 255 in Port Harcourt. And 320 people have been discharged in Lagos after being under surveillance for 21 days — the virus’ incubation period.

Jonathan Approves Construction of New Lagos-Calabar Railway Line

Nigeria's President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the construction of a new railway line linking business hubs Lagos and Calabar, with an extension to the Obudu ranch, #Punch reports.

President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday announced that the Federal Government had signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the construction of a new railway line that will run from Lagos to Calabar and also extend to the Obudu Cattle Ranch.

The President made the announcement when he performed the groundbreaking of the second cement line being constructed by the United Cement Company of Nigeria Limited in Mfamosing, Akamkpa Local Government Council of Cross River State.

This came just as Chairman of the Board of UniCem, Mr. John Coumantaros, said the additional 2.5-million-metric-tonne per annum line would be constructed at the cost of N84bn, adding that the project, which is expected to be completed in 2016, would bring the production capacity of the company to five million metric tonnes per annum.

Jonathan, who was represented by Vice- President Namadi Sambo, said it was commendable that barely five years after UniCem unveiled its first line of 2.5 million metric tonnes, the company had already concluded plans to double its production capacity.

ISIS beheads US journalist Steven Sotloff

BEIRUT: Islamic State extremists released a video on Tuesday purportedly showing the beheading of a second American journalist, Steven Sotloff, and warning President Barack Obama that as long as US airstrikes against the militant group continue, "our knife will continue to strike the necks of your people."

The footage — depicting what the US called a sickening act of brutality — was posted two weeks after the release of video showing the killing of James Foley and just days after Sotloff's mother pleaded for his life.

Barak Barfi, a spokesman for the family, said that the Sotloffs had seen the video but that authorities have not established its authenticity.

"The family knows of this horrific tragedy and is grieving privately. There will be no public comment from the family during this difficult time," Barfi said.

Ebola Outbreak Affecting Bourbon's Operation in Nigeria

The deadly Ebola outbreak in Nigeria is reportedly affecting operations of Bourbon SA (GBB), the supplier of ships and crew to energy producers as it swung to a loss in the first half partly on industry cost cutting, Bloomberg says.

“The mobility of our vessels coming from Nigeria has been restricted by some countries,” Chief Executive Officer Christian Lefevre told reporters. “Vessels coming from Nigeria can’t go directly to Cameroon or Ivory Coast.”

While Bourbon has stopped sending vessels to Nigeria for maintenance, there haven’t been any “significant disruptions” to operations, he said. The company’s Nigerian operations are centered around the southern oil hub of Port Harcourt. The city recorded its first death from the outbreak on Aug. 22.

Bama Still in State Control After Boko Haram Assault - Govt.

The Borno state government has dispelled the stories that the town of Bama had been overrun by islamists, assuring the public that the town still remained under Nigeria's control.

Modu Sheriff, former Governor of Borno state has disclosed that he will sue Australian negotiator,Stephen Davis who accused him of sponsoring Boko haram.

According to AIT, at a press conference which was held today Sheriff said the campaign against him is 'callous and unwarranted' and those linking him with the sect are 'either ignorant or completely out for mischief'.

Big Brother Africa postponed Big Brother Africa Hotshots which was supposed to begin this Sunday 7th September has been postponed indefinitely after a fire incident at the BBA House in Jo’burg, South Africa. Below is a press release from M-Net.

At this stage M-Net and Endemol are urgently looking for an alternative Big Brother house in which to film the production, however as this production has highly technical infrastructure, camera and edit requirements an alternative is not immediately available.
