Crazy things you hear everyday. According to the story, 59 year old Lesley Emerson (pictured left) who died from bowel cancer in 2011, was buried with her favorite things, including her phone...and then her family began to receive messages from the phone which they had put in the coffin with her.

Police officer slumps and dies during examination in Lagos

On Wednesday, 15 October, a police sergeant attached to the Oyo state police command slumped and died during the ongoing promotional examination of policemen to the rank of Sergeant and Inspector, at the Police College, Ikeja, Lagos.
The deceased, who was simply identified as Lekan, had reportedly written the promotional examination with his other colleagues last week, after which successful officers were invited to undergo an assessment exercise with a team of senior Police officers headed by an Assistant Inspector General of Police.

Massive Fraud In Lagos Local Councils Exposed

A 2012 audit report shows that there there has been massive looting and squandering of funds in the 57 local councils that make up Lagos state. PREMIUM TIMES has this story.

A government audit of 57 local councils in Lagos State has indicted eight, accusing their officials of squandering at least N224 million of public funds on a range of questionable expenditure and unimplemented contracts.

The 2012 audit report covers the state’s Local Government Areas, LGAs, created and recognised by the Nigerian government, as well as Local Development Council Administration, LCDAs, created by the Lagos State government, but not recognised by the federal government.

Those accused of wasting public funds are Agbado Oke-odo, Surulere, Coker-Aguda, Egbe-Idumu, Eredo, Iba, Ikosi-Isheri, and Lagos Island East.

Lagos Finally set to Join Oil Producing States

Lagos State is set to join the league of oil producing states in the country come next year as the joint venture partners on the Aje Field offshore Lagos have taken the final investment decision on the exploration of the field.
A group led by Yinka Folawiyo Petroleum Company Limited took the FID to develop the first phase of the Aje shallow water oil field for $ 220m.
The aim of the first phase is to produce 10,000 barrels per day of oil from two target wells in the Oil Mining Lease 113 area. A re-entry of Aje-4 will form the first producer, while drilling of Aje-5 is expected to be the second.

Super Eagles head coach, Stephen Keshi, has been sacked by the new Nigerian Football Federation board over poor performance. Reps approve 71 amendments to Nigerian constitution

Abuja – The House of Representatives on Wednesday in Abuja voted to effect 71 amendments to sections of the 1999 constitution.
The lawmakers also backed the adoption of referendum for state creation.
They, however, rejected the amendment of Section 9 to allow for a referendum in determining the fate of the National Conference recommendations.
Among the 261 house members who participated in the process, 252 members voted in favour of the amendments, eight voted against and one abstained.

Shocking images from the uprising at the Guarapuava prison,Brazil has been released . Brazilian prison wardens were tied up and dangled from the jail roof by inmates who have seized control of the complex.

The uprising  began on Monday when inmates on a work detail over-powered guards, taking 12 of them hostage on the building’s roof.According to Associated Press,the inmates have a long list of demands, including better food, treatment, conditions and the transfer of some prisoners to other penitentiaries.
Authorities trying to gain control of the prison uprising managed to win the release of one of 12 prison guards yesterday, but the others have been stripped naked, tied up and badly beaten by masked prisoners gathered on the rooftop, in scenes that have shocked Brazil.
