To beat INEC deadline Buhari to announce his running mate today

The National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Oyegun says the party's presidential flag bearer, Gen. Buhammadu Buhari rtd will make his running mate known today December 17th

"I have a feeling that he (Muhammadu Buhari) will speak to you today on who his running mate will be. The party has consulted with the candidate and we have reached some agreement and he will address you tomorrow,” Chief Oyegun told newsmen today.

According to INEC election guidelines, the APC has till Thursday December 18th to announce its Presidential and vice presidential candidates. Some folks don't want it to be Bola Tinubu... Hmmm

Bonds fell as the RTS stock index tumbled the most in almost six years. Government officials will gather to discuss the financial crisis engulfing the country.

“I am speechless,” Jean-David Haddad, an emerging-market strategist at OTCex Group in Paris, said in a message. “What a failure for the central bank. Russia would need to announce capital controls today. That is the last solution.”

Pakistani Pry school massacre, 126 now dead, siege ends

What a sad day! Pakistani military has ended today's early morning siege by Islamic terror group, the Taliban, on a military run school in Peshawar, a Northwestern city in Pakistan. 126 people, including 84 children have been confirmed dead. See photos from the incident and a list of dead bodies received at Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar, Pakistan.

The Supreme Court has thrown out the case seeking to deem President Jonathan unfit for re-election next year.
The appeal, filed by an Adamawa PDP chieftain, Dr. Umar Ardo and president over by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Mahmud Mohammed has been struck out by a five man panel of justices of the apex court.

The CJN accused Ardo of trying to get the Supreme Court to arrest a proceeding pending before the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal.

Apparently, the suit challenging President Jonathan's eligibility is currently before the appellate court, and the CJN said Ardo lacked the locus-standi to get the apex court to take over the case's hearing.
