Election Tribunal annuls Wike’s election

The River State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja has annulled the election of Chief Nyesom Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the April 11, 2015 governorship poll in the State.

The tribunal ordered that elections should be conducted within ninety day in the state.
The three-member tribunal, presided over by Justice Suleiman Ambursa, gave the orders in its judgment in a petition filed against the election of Wike by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate in the April 11 election in the state, Dr Dakuku Peterside.
In the judgment, which was read by Ambursa for about three hours, the tribunal held that the petitioners successfully proved their case that the election was conducted in total disregard to electoral guidelines.
