The Signals Of Two Years Jailed Term Over Your Views by Adefemi
From the corner of my brain, thoughts of living in a free society devoid of intimidation engulf my medulla oblongata. I saliently connects all my hormones together to send a signal to my subconscious mind. Quickly I remember great scholars, teachers and FELA ANIKULAPO KUTI of blessed memory. He wrote so many songs and the ones that struck my mind is "Shakara Olooje" meaning bragging! When I read about the proposed bill of our own house of commons that had passed through second readings then I see that we are heading towards the state of gargantuan dictatorshipcracy. In honest truth how does what someone writes on facebook, twitter or other social media concerned SENATORS? Is life not about free will, free expression, free opinion ? Why is it that these people always play into the gallery? What impression are they trying to give to the whole world? I sensed it at the initial stage that they will want to stiffened freedom of expression. To add salt upon injury they are proposing 2years jailed terms for any posts that is offensive, petitioning like in nature.. Let's go back to memory lane during Goodluck Jonathan regime, I believe he never for once think that he will jail nor put people behind bar just for expressing views. I can authoritavely confirmed that Fashola now minister of 3 in 1 ministry once told Goodluck that "if you can't withstand the heat then get out of the kitchen". Where is our brain and conscience for heaven sake? Whoever in his right sense that proposed this bill and the remaining set of prefect's accept it... Hmmmm.. There name will be in the history book either for good or bad. If I may ask, is that the issues that concerned citizens? such as fuel, economy, jobs, security, food etc that needs attention? I felt highly disappointed because as times goes on they might shoot themselves in the leg. What is the real definition of DICTATORSHIP? This whole mess is not good for the image of the country. How on earth will you propose to jail people for posting views either good or bad on social media? I think I need to see the bill first before arriving at any conclusions. God bless Nigeria/ns...
