Nigeria Labour Unions Embark on Indefinite Strike Over Fuel Price Hike

Despite the order from industrial court restraining NLC from embarking on strike. The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and Trade Union Congress, TUC, have resolved to embark on an indefinite strike to protest the recent hike in pump price of petrol.
According to Vanguard, this was the resolution the groups made at a meeting held at NLC headquarters in Abuja.
The strike will start by 12 mid-night on Wednesday, someone at the meeting reportedly said.
“Our decision not to suspend the strike was further fuelled by today’s injunction by the Industrial Court, restraining us from proceeding on the strike expected to begin tomorrow,”the person said.
He also disclosed that the two bodies were still studying development and may not honour the meeting expected with the government at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation this evening.
