Five Reasons why Danny Welbeck will be a success at Arsenal

One of the surprise transfers of the deadline day,it was somewhat strange seeing Danny Welbeck jump ship and join Arsenal from bitter rivals Manchester United.

The business done by both clubs in 2012 for the transfer of Robin Van Persie, has the same mechanics that saw Welbeck join forces with Arsenal on Monday.

Although they are totally different, but they seem to have connected in resemblance. While Van Persie was a finished product and in his prime when he left Arsenal,Welbeck is still crude, young and is not fully tapped.

Which explained the backlash by United fans why Welbeck was sold to Arsenal, knowing that his best years arguably are still in front of him. Continue

Rivers State Government Approves Over 300 Million Naira to Fight Ebola.

The Rivers State Government has announced that it has released over N 300 million to fight the Ebola virus.
The Governor, Rotimi Amaechi disclosed this on Tuesday when the Country Director of the World Health Organisation in Nigeria, Mr. Rui Vaz, paid him a courtesy call at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
The governor also pledged to work together with WHO to fight the Ebola virus in the state, even as he assured that his administration would do everything to contain the disease.
“Whatever it takes for us to overcome Ebola, I will do it because it costs more if Ebola is on the loose than if it is contained.
“So, we are happy that the World Health Organization is here to assist Rivers State. We are happy that the World Health Organization appreciates the dangers of Ebola to our communities.
“We need to contain Ebola.  If there is no cure, then there should be containment so that more persons don’t contact it. The Rivers State Government is prepared to take all the responsibility.  The citizens are ours,” Amaechi said.

It is not clear how long Mikel would wear the gloves, possibly a one-off just to lighten the mood in camp.

A total of seventeen players are now in camp, with more expected later today and possibly tomorrow.

Chinedu Ogbuke Obasi is yet to secure clearance from his German club,Schalke 04 to team up with Nigeria.

Ondo: Mimiko’s moves

After dithering  procrastination, Governor Segun Mimiko is set to defect from Labour Party to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. The move will not only alter the political landscape in Ondo State, but also redraw geopolitical permutations in the Southwest.
The news that Governor Segun Mimiko is defecting from Labour Party to the PDP was to many a storm in a tea cup. To some, especially in Abuja, he is more PDP than many PDP governors and showed so when he delivered for the party in the last presidential elections more than half of the party’s governors.
But no matter his efforts in pushing the interests of President Goodluck Jonathan, the jabs from fellow governors remained a discomfort to the Ondo governor.

We stopped Ikimi because of his awful past – Tinubu

Bola Tinubu
The All Progressives Congress, leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has dismissed the recent umbrage raised against him by former party associate, Chief Tom Ikimi as the fury of a political profiteer frustrated from an ignoble enterprise.
Ikimi had last week walked away from the APC, alleging that Tinubu had turned the party into a personal estate and accused him of assuming powers and influence through political subterfuge.
Ikimi had in the statement resigning his membership of the party, expressed his revulsion at the strong opposition mounted against his move for the chairmanship of the APC expressing outrage that Tinubu was a low ranking political operative when he was already the national chairman of one of Nigeria’s two political parties in the early nineties. PDP hits back over Sheriff, Iherijirika; says Australian’s revelations proves APC behind Boko Haram

Nigeria’s ruling party, The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has hit back at the opposition All Progressives Congress, after the APC said recent allegations by a government-appointed Boko Haram negotiator, show that senior PDP members and allies of President Goodluck Jonathan are masterminds of the sect.
At a press conference Tuesday, the APC demanded the immediate trial of a former governor of Borno State, Modu Sheriff, a PDP member; and a former army chief, Azubuike Ihejirika.
Both former officials were named by an Australian negotiator, Stephen Davis, as Boko Haram sponsors.
The chairman of opposition party, Odigie Oyegun, said revelations by Mr. Davis show the federal government had wrongly accused the APC of being behind Boko Haram.
“They have called us all sorts of derogatory names, but failed to provide any shred of evidence to support their claim,” Mr. Oyegun said.
The APC chairman described Mr. Sheriff as a man known to all Nigerians as the founder of Boko Haram, but who has continued to escape justice and is now Mr. Jonathan’s ally. Continue

Test Ebola drug '100% effective'

The only clinical trial data on the experimental Ebola drug ZMapp shows it is 100% effective in monkey studies, even in later stages of the infection.
The researchers, publishing their data in Nature, said it was a "very important step forward".
Yet the limited supplies will not help the 20,000 people predicted to be infected during the outbreak in West Africa.
And two out of seven people given the drug, have later died from the disease.
ZMapp has been dubbed the "secret serum" as it is still in the experimental stages of drug development with, until now, no public data on effectiveness.
Doctors have turned to it as there is no cure for Ebola, which has killed more than 1,500 people since it started in Guinea.

Boko Haram Planning to Attack A Big Church in Nigeria - TB Joshua

If you believe in the prophecies of the founder of The Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), then you have a reason to worry: Prophet Temitope Balogun Joshua has declared that the Boko Haram sect may be making plans to attack another church, a 'big' church in Nigria.

A member of SCOAN, Pili Makubalo, speaking with #DailyIndependent on Sunday attested to this. Apparently, the prophet made this discomfiting revelation during a sermon at the church auditorium.

Although Joshua didn't give an exact church or location of attack, he said the attack would fuel more political crises and tension in the country.

He said a lot of people could die from the attack, and urged his followers to be prayerful.
