NFF president Aminu Maigari arrested again by security officials

Aminu Maigari for the umpteenth time has been arrested by the Department of State Services(DSS).

According to respected Sports Journalist Toyin Ibitoye, the outgoing president of Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) was picked up this evening at the Abuja airport by the DSS.

Maigari was said coming back from Zurich,Switzerland where he attended the FIFA Players' status committee.

The Bauchi-state born football administrator has had a running battle, going in out of detention since after the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament hosted in Brazil.

Some of the problems Maigari has had in the past two months includes: being impeached by the executive board of the NFF,resigning from his post as the president, until a FIFA ruling overturned all that.

Within that period, a faction emerged laying claims to the NFF leadership, with Chris Giwa claiming he has been elected as the new president.

The NFF elections is scheduled to hold next week in Warri,it is left to be seen of Maigari will preside over it.

20 Quotes To Help You Practice Gratitude

It’s the little voice that creeps up quickly to ruin your day: “They’re so lucky, if only I had, I wish, I want, I need.” No human being is immune to comparison, jealousy, envy or desire. It’s there. It will always be there because we are built with this innate nature to grow, push, move forward and pursue. It’s what propels us. It’s what makes us come alive. It’s what drives our desire to be intentional and purposeful with our lives. But if not harnessed in a healthy manner, it can be the very thing that paralyzes us from living at all.
The greatest thing we could ever do in our pursuit of living is to embrace satisfaction with who we already are, to practice gratitude for what we already have, and to find a peaceful calm for our restless hearts amidst the ever-changing shuffle.
The pursuit of contentment is a daily practice. Without it, yesterday, today, and tomorrow, will forever slip away.
Here are 20 inspiring quotes from some of the world’s deepest thought leaders. How could we doubt their truth when these people all play/ed a part in creating this momentum we call life?

Cornell launches dual MMH-MBA degree with leading Chinese business school

Management in Hospitality (MMH) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree program. The program will have its first intake of students in fall 2015.
Through the new program, students will learn from expert faculty from both schools, get hands-on experience in an international setting, and gain valuable cultural and business perspectives.
"China is the second-largest economy in the world, and its hospitality industry is poised for dramatic expansion. As the Chinese middle class grows, domestic hospitality companies are building new brands, and international brands are expanding into the country," said Michael D. Johnson, dean and E. M. Statler Professor at the School of Hotel Administration. "CEIBS is one of the top-ranked business schools both in this market and the world, making it a perfect counterpart for our first MMH-MBA dual degree."
Through this innovative dual-degree program, students can complete the AACSB-accredited MMH and MBA degrees over the course of two years, the MMH degree at Cornell and the MBA degree at CEIBS. Students will begin the program at either CEIBS or Cornell, spending their second year at the alternate campus.
"An understanding of the way business is done in China, within a global context, is now an invaluable asset—as it will be for years to come—and the country's service industry is becoming increasingly important," said Hellmut Schutte, CEIBS dean and Distinguished Professor of International Management. "CEIBS is pleased to be able to collaborate with Cornell in offering this opportunity of a dual degree that aligns two very important areas."

6 Habits Of Highly Successful People Before Bedtime

We’ve all heard the stories about the mega-successful who wake up early every day and conquer the world before most people put the coffee on. But what about the other time of day that plays an equally important role? What are successful people doing right before bed? Do you want to know the secret? They set themselves up to have an even more productive day tomorrow.
Here are six bedtime habits of highly successful people.

1. Read for an hour

Microsoft billionaire Bill Gates is an avid reader. Each night before bed, he spends an hour reading a book, ranging on topics from politics to current events.
Aside from the obvious benefits of gaining new knowledge, reading daily has also been shown to reduce stress and improve memory. A 2009 study from the University of Essex revealed that reading for as little as six minutes a day can reduce stress levels by up to 68%.
Another big benefit from cracking open a good book on a nightly basis is that it can improve the long term health of your brain. Every time you read, it’s like a mental workout for your mind. This study performed in Britain showed that people who stimulated their minds through activities like reading, reduced cognitive decline by an average of 32% as they got older in age.

Breath Test for TB Developed

Researchers have developed the first breath test for TB in the laboratory, the BBC says.

It provides rapid information on drug resistance that takes up to six weeks using standard methods, US scientists report in the journal, Nature Communications.

The bacteria emit a unique gas signature within 10 minutes of exposure to an inhaled antibiotic in rabbits.

TB infects 8.6m people each year worldwide and kills 1.3m, second only to HIV.

Early diagnosis and treatment are a priority in the global fight against TB, according to the World Health Organization.

T.B. Joshua’s alleged bribe: The truth – written by journalist Simon At

Simon Ateba is a reporter with PM News. Read his thought provoking piece below…
People have been asking me, “Simon , were you at that press conference on 14 September where Prophet T.B. Joshua allegedly gave N50,000 to journalists to write a positive story on the building collapse that killed many people?”, my answer is always the same.
I was not at that event, I do not know if he gave a bribe, I do not know if it was N50,000, and cannot comment on it. But I do not feel better or more righteous in any way than those who might have collected anything, if money was given.‎

Amber Rose files for divorce from Wiz Khalifa

 TMZ just broke the news…

Amber Rose has filed for divorce from husband-of-1-year Wiz Khalifa … and she’s gunning for full custody of their kid … TMZ has learned.
In the divorce docs — obtained by TMZ — Amber says they split on Monday and cites irreconcilable differences.
Amber is asking for full legal and physical custody of their 1-year-old son Sebastian. She’s willing to give Wiz visitation.
And this is interesting. Amber acknowledges there’s a prenup, which you would think would work in Wiz’ favor, but she says it’s valid … presumably, she’s not challenging it. The docs say the prenup provides spousal support.

Why Synagogue Building Could Not Stand ––Military Expert

Sent to OluFamous.Com by Betty Roger
When I sent the video of the collapsed Synagogue building to a friend of mine who is a military expert, he replied with this report.
Unexplained collapse of a newly built multi-story building at the Synagogue Church Of All Nations In Nigeria. Remarks based on the known data of the case:
Before the collapse of the building, it was recorded that at least four times, there was a crossing of a military airplane. It appears to be a Hercules C-130, which is a military aircraft, not civil.
What was a fighter plane doing midday over a residential area many times (at least 4 times that the camera shows) and, most especially, over the building that collapsed under strange circumstances?
The flight routes of these military aircrafts are scheduled by the appropriate military service and are recorded in the service radars. Therefore, it should be investigated:

CBN Orders Banks to Refund N17bn illegal Charges to Customers

The Central Bank of Nigeria has ordered banks to refund over N17bn illegally charged customers as of August 2014, according to the Head, Consumer Protection Department, CBN, Hajia Khadijah Kassim,.

Speaking on Monday in Calabar, Cross River State, she said the decision was in response to about 5,500 complaints received from bank customers.

“Once we receive a complaint; if it is a case of fraud, we move in immediately. As of August 2014; from 5,500 complaints, we have got the banks to refund over N17bn to customers.

“We are not allowing the banks to have a field day as far as treating customers fairly is concerned.”

Responding to a question on bank frauds at a press briefing to mark the commencement of the Financial Literacy and Consumer Awareness Campaign in Calabar, Kassim said as soon as the central bank received complaints of fraud, it usually wasted no time in addressing them.

“We ensure that banks treat their customers fairly,” she said according to PUNCH.

According to her, customers have a right to complain, and advised that they always pay attention to their bank statements.

2015: See Me As A New Atiku, Former VP Begs Nigerians

As aspirants jostle for presidential tickets in their various parties to contest the 2015 presidential election, ex-vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has urged Nigerians to see him as a brand new politician that has been refined and ready to transform Nigeria.
Atiku who said this on Monday in an interactive session with journalists in Lagos said the period he has been out of power has given him the ample opportunity to study the challenges rocking the country and measures needed to solve the problems.

He said, “As I have already indicated, I will be offering myself as a candidate under the platform of my party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“If anything, I want you to see me as a new Atiku. I was in government from 1999 to 2007 and I always thank my God that it did not continue. I have had a break. That break has enabled me to interact with ordinary Nigerians, listen to them and know what they want. Probably if I had continued and become the president, I wouldn’t have been the new Atiku that I am now.”

Atiku said the allegations of corruption against him were the handiwork of his political adversaries.

On my way back from work on Tuesday last week, I saw someone running out of his house, because there is a bush around their compound so he jumped from the fence down and held my hand and said he wants to do what’s on his mind.

Elvis Presley couldn’t “help falling in love”. How low do we sometimes fall to prove how committed we are to someone?
Actually, some of the so-called nasty things do not look too nasty when we genuinely love someone. The things listed below might turn your stomach, but I am pretty sure you have also done something of the sort. Surprisingly enough, most people have and always will. Why? That’s simply because they love each other.
You love yourself and this explains why you do not feel disgusted with yourself when you are trying to squeeze that annoying acne. We are human beings and everyday routine teaches us to tolerate ourselves and others.
We have listed 7 most disgusting things that people are ready to do for their partners. Let’s see how far love can take us. And would you be ready and willing to do any of these for your spouse?
1. Rubbing feet.
Both genders find feet too gross to touch. And no, we are not now talking about foot fetishists who can spend hours touching someone’s feet. Yet we readily give our partner foot massage if we know this will help them relax and feel healthier.

Why Tambuwal Shunned PDP NEC Meeting - PUNCH Investigation

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Aminu Tambuwal, shunned last Thursday’s National Executive Committee meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party to evade the decision of the party to endorse President Goodluck Jonathan as its sole 2015 presidential candidate, The PUNCH has learnt.

Findings showed that Tambuwal was in Abuja throughout Thursday and was even meeting with the national leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association at the National Assembly while the NEC meeting was going on in the city.

In the past, whenever he avoided major PDP meetings, excuses such as being out of the country or attending an important event elsewhere were given by his office to explain his absence.

It was difficult to score against Chelsea- Lampard

England midfielder Frank Lampard has said that he was “lost for words” after scoring his first goal for Manchester City against his former club, Chelsea which ended 1-1.

Lampard who spent 13 years at the Bridge left the club earlier in the summer and agreed a deal with New York City FC but joined Manchester City on loan until January.

"It’s a really difficult one,” Lampard told Sky Sports.

“I’d be unprofessional if I didn’t come on and do my job. I tried to get back in the box, it was a great ball from Milly [James Milner]. I had 13 amazing years with Chelsea fans. So I’m mixed [sic] with it. Obviously, I’m really pleased the team I play for got a draw, so it a really hard one for me to answer.

“I’m a bit lost for words. I didn’t expect to come on and score like that. I come on and the Chelsea fans are signing and that’s emotional, then I’m playing for this club who have taken me in brilliantly as well. So I’m really stuck in the middle here.”

“I didn’t know what I wanted from today, it was a tough one. I suppose this can be seen as a happy medium at the end. It’s a long season, and these two teams, plus others will fight on, it’ll make for an interesting Premier League.”

2 Bombs Defused at UNIUYO

The police command in Akwa Ibom said it had defused two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) found in the male hostel of University of Uyo (UNIUYO).

Confirming the incident in Uyo on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Etim Dickson, told newsmen that the explosives were home-made.

Dickson, who said that the IEDs were likely produced by science students of the university, said investigations had commenced on the matter.

He assured the students on campus and parents not to entertain any fear about possible breakdown of law and order in the university community.

He said ``the incident has been properly taken care of, we urge students and employees of the institution to go about their normal businesses.''

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the IEDs were discovered by the campus security squad known as Operatives of Peace on Campus Initiative (PCI).

The Anti-Bomb Squad of the Nigeria Police had on arrival at the students’ hostel defused the two improved explosive devices and conducted a search round the other hostel rooms.

Why We Omitted Dr. Adadevoh's Name from National Honours List - Presidency

The Presidency has stated that the reason it did not include Dr. Ameyo Adadevoh's name in the National Honours Award list was because of the restrictions by establishing laws which make it impossible to grant the award posthumously.

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, last week, approved the award of National Honours to deserving individuals in various categories. The omission of Dr. Adadevoh drew criticism from commentators who argued that she should have been honoured posthumously.

The marked absence of her name ion the list has since drawn public criticism, as many Nigerians believe Dr. Ameyo Adadevoh, the Senior Consultant/Physician and Endocrinologist at First Consultant Hospital in Lagos, who technically sacrificed her life in a bid to curb the Ebola virus brought into the country by the Liberian-American Patrick Sawyer, deserved the award posthumously.

Responding to the allegation, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe explained that the establishing laws of the National Honours make it impossible for the president to include her in the list. His tweet via his handle, @doyinokupe reads, ” I hv (have) rcvd (received) enquiries as 2(to) why dr adadevoh was not included in d (the) honors list. By law establishing it, nat.honors ( National Honours) cannot be given posthumously”.

In response to questioning by some of his followers, he hinted that the late doctor will receive a befitting honour and recognition in no distant time, stressing that there is no need to break the law in her favour. He tweets, “At d (the) appropiate (appropriate) time dr adadevoh will rcv (receive) a befitting honor”, the other reads, “no need to break d (the) law when we can still achieve same result without violation of our own law”.

“Abubakar Shekau” Killed Was One Bashir Mohammed

A Nigerian military intelligence source has told SaharaReporters that the top Boko Haram figure killed in a recent operation was one Bashir Mohammed, leader of the Islamist sect’s Uye camp.

Cameroonian authorities yesterday released a photo of a dead man they identified as Abubakar Shekau, the loquacious and attention-seeking leader of the terrorist group that has launched deadly strikes in Nigeria’s northeast zone as well as Cameroon. The Nigerian intelligence source told SaharaReporters that Nigerian soldiers, not Cameroonian troops, had killed Mr. Bashir last Friday in a fierce battle against Boko Haram insurgents in Konduga, Borno State. The late Mr. Bashir, who bore a striking resemblance to Abubakar Shekau and had appeared in a recent video, was killed as he led insurgents who were attempting to capture Konduga and then made a bid to seize Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, as well.
Nigerian soldiers routed the Islamist militants in Konduga, killing hundreds of them and capturing weapons as well as vehicles abandoned by fleeing insurgents. The military as well as Nigerian government-appointed negotiators claim that the original Mr. Shekau had died since last year, reportedly assassinated by his lieutenants. The intelligence source said Mr. Bashir had adopted Mr. Shekau’s nom deguere and had been the person responsible for issuing video messages in recent times. Even though our source said the military was cautious not to claim credit for Mr. “Shekau’s” death, he added that the Nigerian military was buoyed by the capture of the armored tank usually displayed in the background of recent videos issued by the sect’s spokesman.

Reader’s Mail: I Can’t Seem To Keep A Man

Lately, I have been getting more anxious and worried as it is obvious that I am not getting any younger; with the worst part being my inability to keep a relationship with a man for a long time.
I turned 27 yesterday and my anxiety level has reached fever pitch. With my longest relationship ever not exceeding 5 months, it is a mystery how things never go my way in terms of keeping a man. It’s either the man leaves or another girl snatches him from me. It’s like a vicious circle, nothing ever changes since I started dating at 22. I don’t have a boyfriend as I write this and I already have a feeling that my next might not stay too. Could it be as a result of my refusal to allow any man have sex with me due to the fact that I was raped at age 16? My decision to stay without sex could be a factor, but could it be that bad?
How can I convince him to stay with me? How can I keep a man? Most of my friends are now married and I am even more worried.

One of the reporters who was at the Synagogue Church of All Nations recently, where he had gone to cover last Friday’s unfortunate incident, has accused the church of bribing each journalist present with the sum of N50,000. He also said he was the only journalist that turned down the ‘bribe’ and he will do it over and over again.
Nicholas has been tweeting and wondering why the Prophet has not been prosecuted, but instead he has been getting condolence visitations from important personalities including the president himself. He later tweeted this evening that some people have been calling his friends and family members to ask him to stop, but he won’t be stopping any moment from now, except they stop him. South African minister says death toll at Synagogue building collapse now 115

South African minister, Jeff Radebe today Sept. 22nd, said that the death toll from the Synagogue building collapse has risen to 115. Radebe said this at an airforce base, North of Johannesburg in South Africa where 25 South Africans who were injured in the collapsed building were brought home in a military C-130 aircraft (pictured above) for treatment. He however maintained that 84 South Africans died in the tragedy.

“We understand from our assessment team that the total number of people who have perished is now 115, but those are not all South Africans. South Africans are about 84 that have died” Jeff Radebe told reporters.
The Nigerian Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, put the death toll from the collapse at 86.
The South African minister also said that 26 injured South Africans were meant to return back home today but one of them decided to stay back at the Synagogue church. A 19-member medical team including specialist doctors, nurses and medical military paramedics took care of the injured on board the military C-130 aircraft. Among those transported today included two orphaned toddlers whose parents died in the tragedy.

TB Joshua’s boy Onazi Signs New Deal at Lazio for €700,000

Ogenyi Onazi, who was inspired by Prophet TB Joshua and started his professional career in My People, a club founded by the popular prophet, has signed a new improved 4-year deal at Italian Club SS Lazio.
He signed the new deal on Monday. The Super Eagles midfielder, whose impressive performances at the last FIFA World Cup is believed to have contributed to the new deal, is expected to earn €700,000 per season (from his previous fee of €350,000) according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Speaking through his twitter handle @OgenyiOnazi, the stylish player said, “I say a big thank you to God, my family, my team and my fans as I sign an extension to my contract.” The 21-year-old already has another two years left on his current deal but the club feels tying him down to a new agreement and inserting a release clause of €10m will show how much they value the midfielder that has been linked with Liverpool and Everton in the January 2015 transfer window.
