Ebola: Stigmatisation of Nigerians unjustifiable, says Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday said there was no justifiable reason for the continued stigmatisation of Nigerians in any part of the world over the Ebola Virus Disease.

He said there could never be any basis for the action because the disease was rapidly contained in the country as it did not reach an epidemic stage.

Jonathan spoke while receiving the French Foreign Minister, Mr. Laurent Fabius, and his German counterpart, Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

A statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, quoted the President as telling his guests that he hoped that Nigerians would henceforth be spared of the discriminatory checks and stigmatisation abroad since the World Health Organisation has certified the country Ebola-free.

He was said to have restated the Federal Government’s displeasure over the stigmatisation of Nigerians by some countries after the Ebola virus entered Nigeria in July through a Liberian

Gunmen kill German national in Ogun state ambush

Gunmen in southwestern Nigeria have shot dead a German man and abducted another. The German citizens were in the area working for the construction company Julius Berger when their vehicles came under fire.

The two men were ambushed while they were driving in separate cars without security escorts near the town of Sagamu in Ogun state.
"About four armed men emerged from the bush…and attacked," police spokesman Abimbola Oyeyemi told news agency AFP on Monday. "A bullet hit one German and he was confirmed dead on arrival at the hospital, while the hoodlums abducted another German."

South African state prosecutors say they will appeal Pistorius verdict

State prosecutors in South Africa say they will appeal the verdict handed down to Oscar Pistorius, along with his five-year sentence. If the appeal succeeds, Pistorius could face a 15-year sentence for murder.

A spokesman for South Africa's National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said on Monday that prosecutors would appeal the conviction of culpable homicide and five-year jail sentence handed down last week to Oscar Pistorius.
"Oscar Pistorius judgement, NPA will be appealing both the conviction and sentence," Nathi Mncube said on his Twitter feed.

South African Football Captian Senzo Meyiwa shot dead

Senzo Meyiwa, goalkeeper and captain of the South African national football team has been shot dead by armed assailants. The death is the second of a prominent South African sportsman this weekend.

South African national football team captain and goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa was shot and killed Sunday near Johannesburg after gunmen broke into the house where he was staying, police said.
Meyiwa, who played for the South African football club Orlando Pirates, was gunned down at a house in Vosloorus, a town about 30 kilometers south of Johannesburg. Two men reportedly entered the house and shot Meyiwa while a third stood watch outside.

It’s the beginning of a new week, some of us are excited about the opportunity of a fresh start while most of us are not; because Monday signifies the end of the weekend and the beginning of more work. I woke up his morning with this same mixed feelings. I was excited about the new week because I saw it as another opportunity to correct the mistakes I made last week and on the other hand I was sad the weekend was over. Ok!! So at this point I know most of us just want me to get straight to the point of this post so I will.

I GOT UP that’s the point. After snoozing my alarm several times like most of us did this morning I GOT UP, YOU GOT UP, WE GOT UP and believe it or not that takes strength and determination.

This week lets strive with that same attitude and let’s GET UP every chance we get because no one in history succeeded by staying down. This week when you feel tired GET UP, when you feel frustrated GET UP and when you feel like giving up GET UP and make a difference, make a change.

Mrs Boyden said,  ‘Bobbi’s like a little Beyonce, a little madam really. She loves the attention of being up on stage and she screams to get up there.’ The family has spent £5,000 on elaborate dresses and entry fees in the past three months.

Bobbi who loves to dance to Beyonce’s single ladies on stage shakes her hips and blows kisses to the audience as she strolls on stage. ‘She shakes her bum and she just thoroughly enjoys it, and that’s the best part for me – just seeing her happy, her 32-year old mom says. Professor Elena Martinescu at the University of Groningen, said: “Women who receive negative gossip experience higher self-protection concerns possibly because they believe they might experience a similar fate as the person being the target of the gossip. Man dug up 150 little girls from their graves, held birthday parties for them (Graphic Photos)

A Russian historian has stunned many when he held birthday parties for 150 little girls he had dug up from their graves and mummified.
Anatoly Moskvin, 46, from the city of Nizhny Novgorod in central Russia, was arrested  after it emerged he had dug up corpses of girls aged between three and 12.
He then took the bodies home and turned them into a grisly collection of mummies, dressing the bodies and skeletons in stockings and dresses and even making one look like a teddy bear.
This week a judge revealed that Moskvin was not mentally fit to stand trial and should remain in a psychiatric clinic.

Mother claims Oscar and Reeva never had sex

Late model Reeva Steenkamp's mother June Steenkamp said Reeva confided in her before she was shot dead on Val's day 2013 that she'd never had sex with Oscar Pistorius.

June made this revelation in her yet to be released book titled “Reeva: a Mother's Story”. In an extract from the book in Times Magazine, June wrote that Reeva told her that although they spent nights together, they didn't have sex because she 'was scared to take the relationship to that level'.
