President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday
said there was no justifiable reason for the continued stigmatisation of
Nigerians in any part of the world over the Ebola Virus Disease.
He
said there could never be any basis for the action because the disease
was rapidly contained in the country as it did not reach an epidemic
stage.
Jonathan spoke while receiving
the French Foreign Minister, Mr. Laurent Fabius, and his German
counterpart, Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, at the Presidential Villa,
Abuja.
A statement by his Special
Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, quoted the President
as telling his guests that he hoped that Nigerians would henceforth be
spared of the discriminatory checks and stigmatisation abroad since the
World Health Organisation has certified the country Ebola-free.
He
was said to have restated the Federal Government’s displeasure over the
stigmatisation of Nigerians by some countries after the Ebola virus
entered Nigeria in July through a Liberian
