Hillary Clinton hires new tech chief away from Google for raising money and attracting voters

Hillary Clinton is deadly serious about attracting young and tech-savvy voters in 2016, hiring a new digital guru who hails from the world's most powerful online brand.
Stephanie Hannon, who was the tech giant's director of productmanagement for civic innovation and social impact, will serve as her presidential campaign's chief technology officer.
In that role she will supervise a sprawling effort to develop websites, mobile apps and other vehicles for pushing the former secretary of state's brand through the 2016 elections.
Hannon previously worked on Gmail and Google Maps. She also spent some time at Facebook, and also worked for the event-organizing website Eventbrite, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Major power outage sweeps Washington, White House

A power outage swept the Washington area Tuesday, hitting the White House, the Capitol and the State Department and knocking out electricity for thousands around the US capital.

Washington power provider Pepco said the outage was caused by a dip in voltage as a result of an issue with the transmission line.
“There was never a loss of permanent supply of electricity to customers,” Pepco said.
Electricity was back to normal by mid-afternoon and the company had dispatched teams to look into how it happened.
“Customers should be able to operate their own equipment at this time. There are no current supply problems. We have crews on site investigating the cause.”
Outages were reported at more than 2,100 premises and households in Washington, according to Pepco, and more in Maryland suburbs southeast of the capital
Major government buildings were not spared, including the White House, which lost power briefly.
Back-up generators kicked in promptly to restore lights and computers that were knocked out for several seconds, according to an AFP reporter.

I want to work with my talent, not with my boobs – Peggy Onah .

By JULIET EBIRIM and KEHINDE AJOSE
Pretty, sexy and busty Peggy  Onah has come to find her  place in the competitive movie industry by sheer hard work and talent. Unlike most ‘wannabes’ in the industry who would pull off their clothes to flaunt what Mother Nature has endowed them with, at the drop of a hat, Peggy would rather want to keep them on.
Though she’s heavily endowed in the chest region, the Enugu State University graduate of Mass Communications believes her boobs shouldn’t be her calling cards. In this engaging session as our Showtime Celebrity, she talks about her career, love, lust and other things that make her tick.

Why are you based  in Enugu and not Lagos?
It’s because Enugu is where you have more jobs as an actress. Lagos is the centre of entertainment in Nigeria, but many of the stars you see started from the east.
How has the experience been for you?

Celebrity Makeover Alert! From Calvin Harris to Nikki Minaj

Celebrities are generally considered the beautiful people. And sure, some are born genetically blessed, but a lot more of them undergo serious makeovers. From facials and haircuts, to overhauled wardrobes and speech lessons, a lot goes into making a person Tinseltown-ready.

Take Calvin Harris, for example—the latest star to have undergone a Hollywood makeover. The 31-year-old Scottish DJ’s blonde tresses, chiseled jawline and toned body (have you seen those Armani underwear ads!?) catapulted him to the top of the music heap. The only thing missing? A queen, which he seems to have found in Taylor Swift. A couple of years ago, however, he was spinning tracks in band tees, sporting shaggy brown hair and an unkempt beard. Could he have dated Swift then?

And Harris isn’t the only one to get a major style makeover in the name of fame. It’s practically par for the course. From Nicki Minaj to Katy Perry, Zac Efron to Jonah Hill, here’s a look at the boldest celebrity style makeovers.

President Jonathan warns against negative comments

Read the State House press statement below...
As the nation prepares for Saturday’s governorship and State Assembly elections, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan calls on all Nigerians to remain peaceful, united and law-abiding. The President condemns the very unseemly attempt by some politicians, groups and individuals to intimidate others, heat up the polity and cause public disorder and disaffection in the aftermath of the Presidential and National Assembly elections.
President Jonathan is especially concerned about the negative triumphalism that has been put on display by certain elements since March 31 which flies in the face of his personal commitment to post-election peace, unity and national stability.

ISIS - Hundreds queue for hours as they wait for food in 'caliphate's' capital

Famished and queuing despondently as far as the eye can see, these images will have the Islamic State's slick propaganda unit spitting feathers.
In scenes more familiar in the most impoverished refugee camps, scores of downtrodden Syrians wait in line for hours for food in the terror group's self-declared capital Raqqa.
It's a far cry from the all-conquering image of prosperity its jihadi PR machine would like the world to believe.
The pictures were posted on Twitter by a member of the anti-ISIS campaign group Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently who risk their lives every day by documenting atrocities from inside the city.

Must Read! MESSAGE TO ALL Guys by Yewande

You saw a beautiful girl; you like her.
You fought tirelessly to win her heart.
You wake up in the middle of the night to text her messages.
You swore you love her.
You call her pet names.
You adore all her imperfections.
You love whatever she puts on.
You spend all time with her without complaining.
You clean her face and wipe her tears.
You gently won her heart.
You made her believe in you.
She came to trust you.
You assured her that you will always be there for her.
You gave her hope.
now,
She believed you are different.
She believes she has found love again.
She threw her pride away.

Women Don't Negotiate Because They're Not Idiots

If I hear once more that the reason for the wage gap is that women don't negotiate, I may just blow a gasket.
Linda Babcock herself, the author of the studies that gave rise to the "women don't ask" industry, has shown that women don't negotiate for a very simple reason: they sense -- correctly -- that it will hurt them if they do.
Babcock and her colleagues found that women don't negotiate their initial salaries as much as men. No doubt you've heard that. This finding has received a wild amount of coverage in the press.
What you probably haven't heard is what happens when women do negotiate. Often, they end up worse off than if they'd kept their mouths shut.
A 2006 study Babcock did with Hannah Riley Bowles and Lei Lai helped explain why women are less likely to negotiate their starting salaries (referred to as the Bowles study). When they do, both men and women are less likely to want to work with or hire them. The effect size is large. Women who negotiated faced a penalty 5.5 times that faced by men.

If you cannot impeach God you cannot impeach me says Fayose

As the clock thicken in the political atmosphere in fountain of knowledge, Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state says for anyone to successfully impeach him, they would have to impeach God first. Gov. Fayose said this during an audience participatory programme; 'Meet Your Governor' aired on the State Television, EKTV, Ekiti Radio, Progress FM and NTA, Ado Ekiti yesterday April 6th.
"I’m like Israel that is in the midst of enemies but will always prevail. Whoever wants to remove me will first have to impeach God. They are doing all these just to get at me because of my support for President Jonathan and I have no regret for supporting the president. Let me say it again, I have not been served any impeachment notice. The House of Assembly is also on recess and Dr Adewale Omirin is not the speaker of the State House of Assembly. Omirin is in court, challenging his impeachment and he can’t be challenging his impeachment in court and at the same time laying claim to being Speaker.” he said.

What Buhari Needs To Succeed - Jonathan

Jonathan spoke at the Presidential Villa, Abuja
yesterday when he received a delegation of the
Federal Capital Territory residents led by his vice,
Mohammed Namadi Sambo, who paid him Easter
homage.
The president described Easter, as a period of
sacrifice.
He said: “Whenever we talk about this period, the
key lesson there is sacrifice. Somebody sacrificed
for our own salvation.
“Now, Buhari is coming on board; it is not about
supporting Buhari or government, but what
sacrifice, as individuals, are you willing to make
for government and for the nation?”
He asked whether Nigerians would be ready to
make the sacrifice of backing Buhari if he should
increase Value Added Tax (VAT) from five to 10
percent.

‘Furious 7’ roars into box-office record book with $143 million debut

Paul Walker fans drive Universal’s action sequel to best U.S. opening of 2015, plus an additional $240 million from overseas.

The ultra-action sequel “Furious 7” exploded for an April record of $143.5 million in its U.S. box office debut this weekend, the year’s best and by far its most emotional, thanks to the presence of the late Paul Walker.
“Furious 7” was in a market-high 4,003 theaters across the nation and dominated. “Home,” the DreamWorks Animation family film that opened at No. 1 last weekend, held up well and took in a solid $27.4 million for second place – but finished roughly $115 million behind the leader. The other studios cleared out and no other movie opened wide.

Fani-Kayode reacts to Oba of Lagos alleged threat to Igbos, says its unacceptable

He shared his thought on his Facebook wall over the alleged threat
The Oba of Lagos' threat against the Igbos in Lagos that if they do not vote for the APC in the governorship elections on Saturday they should be ready for the consequences and that if they don't vote for Ambode they should be ready to perish in the lagoon is ominous and unacceptable.
The truth is that we were threatened with ethnic cleansing and religious carnage in the north had Buhari not won the election on march 28th and had Jonathan not quickly conceded defeat and now our traditional supporters are being threatened in Lagos and in many other states.
Let two things be clearly understood. In as much as we all want peace in this country and in as much as Jonathan has graciously and quickly conceded defeat in the Presidential election, this does not mean that we are weak or powerless.

Newlyweds Margaret-Ann and David Rous die in plane crash in Scotland

Newlyweds Dr Margaret-Ann Rous and her husband David died when their private plane ploughed into a hillside in Scotland over the weekend while making a surprise visit to see family for Easter.

The couple, who have been married for a few months, were flying in the woman's Piper Cherokee from Dundee to spend the weekend with her mother and sister in Tiree. But radar contact was lost at around 1.50pm on Saturday in the remote Beinn Lus area of Glen Kinglass, near Oban. Six hours later the wreckage of the plane was discovered, along with their bodies.

So sad as Dr Rous, 37, is believed to have worked as a family doctor at Stobswell Medical Practice in Dundee.
She married her 28-year-old husband last July. It is understood that they were soon to move into a larger house and were planning to start a family.
Poignantly, along with photographs of their wedding, her Facebook page has pictures of them wearing pilot headsets.

Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa spend Easter together (photos)

Love with truth feelings knows no bound! Few days ago Amber Rose poured her heart out on instagram, saying she wanted to get back with her estranged husband and it looks like her dreams are coming through. According to TMZ, she spent Easter with Wiz Khalifa and their 2-year-old Sebastian.
"Amber, Wiz and Sebastian arrived in the same ride for Tamar Braxton's big Easter party in Calabasas. People at the party tell us ... Wiz and Amber were affectionate with each other -- at times hugging -- and very playful. At times they walked away from the crowd to spend time with each other." TMZ reports

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon Reunite For an Easter Celebration With Their Kids

Plenty of stars are sharing festive snaps this Easter, but Mariah Carey's new photo just might be the sweetest of the bunch. On Sunday, Mariah posted a new Instagram capturing her celebration with Nick Cannon and their twins, Moroccan and Monroe. The family of four is seen partaking in an Easter egg hunt together. As Mariah and Nick hold themed buckets, Moroccan and Monroe have their eyes on the hunt ahead.
Their cute family moment comes just a few months since Nick filed for divorce from Mariah. In March, reports claimed that Mariah sold their Bel Air mansion in LA without Nick's permission, leading him to file a lawsuit. Rumors about their breakup first gained steam in August, when Nick said there was "trouble in paradise."
Mariah has managed to make big career moves in the midst of their divorce, signing a new deal with Epic Records. Earlier this year, the singer announced a Las Vegas concert residency during an exciting appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and just last month, she had an epic karaoke session with James Corden on The Late Late

Turkey blocks access to YouTube and Twitter over published images of prosecutor

Turkey has blocked access to Twitter and YouTube after they refused a request to remove pictures of a prosecutor held during an armed siege last week.
A Turkish court imposed the blocks because images of the deadly siege were being shared on social media and 'deeply upset' the wife and children of Mehmet Selim Kiraz, the hostage who was killed.
The 46-year-old Turkish prosecutor died in hospital when members of the Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C) stormed a courthouse and took him hostage.

Black women are beautiful and fair beyond measure .

By Reno Omokri
I encourage every black woman to reassess her definition of beauty. The modern media feed black women’s insecurities by promoting beauty standards which make them want to alter their natural hair, skin color and other physical attributes. Do not fall for that.
Wise King Solomon had 1000 beauties in his harem. There were women from all over the Mediterranean there. But the only erotic love song written in The Bible and by King Solomon was written in praise of the beauty of a black woman he had fallen in love with.
In Songs of Solomon 1:5, Solomon writing in the first person said “I am black, but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon”.
Today, when you use the word ‘fair’ it denotes something of a pale or light complexion. But that has not always been the case. King Solomon wrote thus of his black love “thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves’ eyes”.
The original meaning of ‘fair’ was something beautiful or attractive.
Black is beautiful. Do not take it from me. Take it from the wisest mortal man that ever lived besides Yeshu’a (Jesus).
From the top of her head to the tip of her toe, the black woman is beautiful beyond measure.
Omokri

Where Helen of Troy moved Prince Paris’ heart, it took a black woman to move King Solomon’s heart. What does that mean? It means black women are for for Kings and should be in palaces.

I don’t have a reason to cry and I have every reason to smile
and I don’t have a reason to lie, when you’re already reading my mind
and I don’t have a reason to be, if I can’t be with you.

And I don't need air in my lungs, if I can’t sing your song.
No I don’t need hands if I don’t get to keep you warm
and I don’t really need myself, if I will need you.

Cause darling I wake up just to sleep with you.
I open my eyes so I could see with you and I live so I can die with you.
And I don’t really need these fingers, if I don’t get to touch your spine.
Well I don’t need these legs, if I ain’t walking by your side
and I don’t really need to be if I can’t be with you.

Cause darling I wake up just to sleep with you.
I open my eyes so I could see with you and I live, so I can die with you.
Cause darling I wake up just to sleep with you.
I open my eyes so I can see with you and I live so I can die with you.
I live so I can die with you.

Kentucky's pursuit of perfection ends in stunned silence with loss to Wisconsin

INDIANAPOLIS -- As the empty possessions and shot-clock violations kept piling up, as this entire dream of a Kentucky season came crashing down in a way no amount of star recruits could salvage, John Calipari called for someone to throw him a white towel.
He was standing on the sideline of Lucas Oil Stadium, facing futility in the final minute, his blue side of the joint that had rolled up I-69 seeking a coronation now startled into silence.

The Kentucky coach kept rubbing the towel over his face, effectively wiping off the sweat, less so the frustrated reality of seeing something so grand fall so fast. He eventually threw it down and walked, with the final seconds still ticking, to give Bo Ryan a congratulatory hug.
