The Queen’s 1947 wedding brought back to life in £100m Netflix drama

As 9th September draws ever closer, when Her Majesty will overtake Queen Victoria as the country’s longest-reigning monarch, there’s no end to the amount of retrospective coverage; looking back over her 63-year reign and its highs and lows.
Now, US-based streaming service Netflix are set to take advantage of the royal fanfare in a £100m drama, The Crown – tracing The Queen’s reign from her wedding to The Duke of Edinburgh in 1947 through to the present day.
The 60-episode series, which is expected to air next year, will star Claire Foy as the 21-year old Princess Elizabeth and former Doctor Who star Matt Smith will play the young Duke of Edinburgh. Foy has already experienced royal portrayal earlier this year, starring as a young Anne Boleyn in the BBC’s historical drama, Wolf Hall.
Groups of extras, dressed in authentic 1940s attire, lined the streets outside Ely Cathedral on Wednesday as filming began of the original royal wedding. The cathedral, built over 700 years ago, is acting as an ‘alternative Westminster Abbey’ backdrop for the spectacular royal event and the set was a true mashup of modern and vintage as modern green screens and vintage 1940’s cameras mixed.

How Do You Form Your Thought Process?

You Are Creative's photo.

Albert Einstein: "‘The words of the language as they are originally spoken don’t seem to play any role at all in my mechanism of thought. The elements of my thought are certain signs, or more or less clear images, which in my case are of a visual and sometimes of a muscular type. The combination of these different images in productive thought is what enables me to make progress before there is any connection with logical construction in words or any other sign that could be communicated to others.'"

How about you? Do you start your thought process with words, images or haphazardly?

Goodbye is the saddest word ever...By Mbizo Madlala

Be inspired!!!
Imagine spending years with someone & one day out of the blue God calls them home....without notice...they are gone forever and you are left with questions that have no answers....
Yeah death is a part of our genetic make up but it's truly one of those sad concepts we can never really be familiar with....
It hurts so bad and no words can fully describe the numbing pain you feel inside....
No one can say death striked when they were fully prepared and ready for it to take their loved one...
Now for life to be easier I think it's best to make the most of all the time we have together while we still breath...
Appreciate what is....
Create special memories and just be there for all those that we love....for when their number is up we shall weep bitterly but we shall also rejoice at the moments of impact we shared with them....
Yesterday I cried when I lost friends....but today I rejoice at all that we have shared in this lifetime....
Life is a gift my friend...
Stop complaining and savour each day as if it was your last....
Love with your whole heart..
Never fear what you don't control....
Cherish it all so that when your eyes finally feel too weary to open....you shall say....
"I gave my life my best shot....now I am ready to see my maker"

MUST READ! How We Can Federate Nigeria By Reno Omokri

I find this article interesting and believe I should share it with my esteemed readers! Enjoy as you read.
Two weeks ago, I asked a question-Who Will Federate Nigeria? It was actually a rhetorical question which was prompted by recent happenings in the polity which exposed deficiencies in our current federal set up.
One of these recent happenings is the issue of unpaid salaries which has caused so much pain to individual families.
Having asked that question, it seems to me that I have a duty to answer it and this piece will provide some ideas on how we can federate Nigeria.

Must Read! Teenager who was born with hundreds of birthmarks over her entire body embraces it

This is a story about courage and loving yourself no matter what. We should all be thankful for who we are at all times.
A teenage girl who has been verbally abused for years by other children has revealed how she has come to love the hundreds of birthmarks covering her face and body.
Ciera Swaringen, 19, of Rockwell, North Carolina, was diagnosed with Giant Congenital Melanocytic Nevus after being born with the oversized mole-like marks.
They cover more than two-thirds of her body, with the largest one stretching from her navel to her lower thighs.
Since she was a small child, she has had to endure cruel taunts from other children - and adults - but she has developed a positive attitude towards her rare skin condition, which affects around one in every 500,000 people.

According to Kenya media, Jonathan is the second dignitary to visit the reserve in less than a fortnight after the King of Swasiland, Mswati III. The king was booked in the same lodge six days ago.
The owner of the hotel, Nicky Fitzgerald, said this tourism peak season is different from the past as prominent personalities from across the world have been calling for bookings.
“We have received Mr Jonathan, King Mswati III, a Chinese prominent family and we are expecting other royalties,” said Ms Fitzgerald.
Ms Fitzgerald said United States (U.S.) President Barrack Obama’s visit last month was a boost for tourism in Kenya.
The trooping in of world leaders to Kenya is expected to boost the tourism sector, which is recovering from travel advisories.
Britain has withdrawn travel advisories against Kenya and America is expected to follow suit.
“Starting of direct flights between Kenya and the U.S. as Obama promised would really promote trade and tourism,” said Ms Fitzgerald.

I hate Okocha – Oliseh

BY TONY UBANI Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has finally laid to rest rumours that he does not see eye-to-eye with his former assistant in the Eagles Austin Jay-Jay Okocha when he said; ‘’yes, I hate Jay-Jay’’. A reporter had asked him to clear the air on rumours that he does not see or stay in the same room with the former playmaker of the Super Eagles. The hall was like a graveyard when he made the pronouncement. He looked round and explained further. “I hate Okocha because anytime we play Tennis, he beats me.  We played  at the weekend at Sheraton Hotel and he defeated me’’. He made light of the rumour that started after he was appointed coach of the senior national team. Many still believe that Okocha stabbed Oliseh in the back when he accepted the captaincy of the Eagles to the 2002 World Cup.  ‘’We’re the best of friends and we played Tennis at the weekend’’, he emphasised. Okocha is currently the Chairman of Delta State Football Association and Chairman of NFF’s Study Group.  Speaking on the Eagles, Oliseh said that he was going to make the Eagles to play team football combined with individual talents. ‘’If you remember our victories in 1994 and 1996, it was based on individual talents. But we do not have such individual talents again. What we need to do is to play collectively. That is what obtains in Germany and Spain. It’s a lot of hardwork. We’re here to do our best’’, he added.

Naira drops to 224 as dollar demand rises

The naira dropped against the dollar at the parallel market on Tuesday driven by demand mainly from individuals travelling abroad for summer holidays and importers, traders said.
The local currency was quoted at 224 to the greenback at the black market, 0.89 per cent weaker than 222 it was sold on Monday, Reuters reported.
At the official interbank market, the naira closed at 197, a level it has been stuck at following the Central Bank of Nigeria’s peg on the exchange rate in February.
“We’ve seen a surge in dollar demand … since Friday,” a Nigerian Bureaux de Change operator, Harrison Owoh, said, adding that the CBN might sell dollars this week.
Owoh said the bank sold around $160m to BDCs last week to increase dollar supply.
BDCs are allowed to sell up to $4,000 as personal travelling allowance and $5,000 as business travelling allowance.
However, individuals sometimes buy above the stipulated dollar limit from the undocumented parallel market.
The naira had appreciated to 216 at the parallel market last week after banks stopped accepting hard currency cash deposits on CBN orders, fuelling excess dollar liquidity at the parallel market.
The central bank has also directed lenders to pay for dollars purchased at the official market 48 hours in advance, tightening naira liquidity.
