“He tried to flee when asked about his involvement in drug peddling and jumped out of the window. He suffered injuries in the legs and other parts of the body and was immediately rushed to the Aundh District Hospital. After primary treatment, doctors declared him to be normal and the NCB team left for Mumbai with him. However, he complained of feeling unwell, following which he was brought back to the hospital, where he died during treatment around midnight,” SPI Saifan Mujavar of the Sangvi Police station said.
His Nigerian friends are demanding for a thorough investigation into the cause of his death. A Nigerian, Bob Frany said “Police should submit his autopsy report to the Nigerian Embassy and also investigate the matter properly,”
Indian Police has however registered
a case of accidental death under Section 174 (police to inquire and
report on unnatural death) of the Criminal Procedure Code in India.
His body is presently at the Sassoon General Hospital and a post mortem is expected to be done on him today.
