As the saying goes : " all that glitters is not gold." Ordinarily one
would just dwell on the assumption that all footballers are paid king's
ransom in Europe, but in the Italian Serie A it is not totally so.
While players in England could be pocketing astronomical figures in
weekly wages, the latest figures released in Italy, has shown the gulf in
difference between the two leagues.
AS Roma's Daniele De Rossi is touted as the highest earner in the
league, and that is at £100,000. This is lesser than what Ashley Young
earns at Manchester United.
The surprising one was the figure released for former Manchester United
player,Paul Pogba now at Juventus. The French international is said to
be earning £23,000 every week, something that really belies his much
hyped talent.
Below written in italics is the report by Daily Mail on the salary cap of players in the Italian Serie A.
As the annual salaries of every Serie A player were released on
Monday, there seems to be little doubt that the Italian league is
falling behind Europe's top leagues.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport,
Serie A clubs are now spending close to a combined £500million less on
wages compared with 2011 as even the league's highest earners collect
far less than Premier League and La Liga stars.
