UPDATE: Pastor Chris Oyakhilome Gets 6 Weeks to Reconcile with his Wife Anita

This is good news. If things are allowed to work out fine from this stage, Pastor Chris and his wife might just be back in each other’s embrace. It is possible, keep your fingers crossed and pray for them.
Indications have emerged that reconciliation moves are on course between the Pastor Chris Oyakhilome and his wife Rev. Anita, who have been in the news in the past week over the divorce proceedings the latter filed in a court in the UK. The divorce case, with suit number FD14D01650, was filed on 9th April 2014 at Divorce Section A, Central Family Court, First Avenue House, High Holborn in London by Anita’s lawyers, Attwaters Jameson Hill Solicitors.

To have a divorce in the UK, both parties must have a marriage that is legally recognised in the UK, and have a permanent home in England or Wales.
In fact, for Anita to Divorce Pastor Chris, there are 5 grounds:

Alleged relationship with other women, unreasonable behaviour; desertion; 2 years separation; and 5 years’ separation. In the case of Rev. Chris, adul-tery wasn’t cited but the decree nissi was reportedly served to him during a recent visit to the UK.
City People Magazine reports that, according to the Family Law in UK, decree nissi is a document that says that the court doesn’t see any reason why you can’t divorce. This is usually applied for if one’s husband or wife doesn’t defend a divorce petition.
For now, Pastor Chris has six weeks to settle and reconcile with his wife. After 6 weeks, the applicant can apply for a ‘decree absolute’ to end the marriage. The decree absolute is the legal document that ends a marriage, and the applicant needs to wait at least 6 weeks after the date of the decree nisi before applying for a decree absolute.
If he doesn’t meet up to settle with his wife, their individual lawyers will address matters of finances and other issues (how they will share their money and assets) before the marriage comes to an end.
