At Laserderm Clinics
we perform a procedure (non-surgical) called Sclerotherapy to treat
this. Though Laser therapy, which we also use can in some cases be
effective as well as ineffective. The good news is even when this fails;
Sclerotherapy is known to have a high success rate.
Sclerotherapy
for Varicose and Spider veins is a procedure designed to improve the
appearance of veins. The veins are injected with a solution called
Sclerosant which helps to eliminate spider veins or small varicose
veins. Usually only the very tip of the needle is inserted into the
skin, whilst this can be experienced as a tiny scratch, it should not be
more painful than plucking hair
It
is a proven and safe procedure and has been in existence since the
1930’s.The exact cause of these vascular malformations is unknown but it
is believed to be related to a combination of factors which include
hereditary as well as hormonal factors along with heat and alcohol.
The procedure at Laserderm Clinics
includes an initial consultation to ensure that the veins to be treated
will benefit from sclerotherapy. This will be performed by one of our
trained doctors. The area is then cleansed and the solution is injected
into each vein. The number of injections can vary depending on the
extent and number of spider veins present. Side effects are minimal and if at all any settle within 24 hours. Results can be immediate or you may need 2-3 sessions over a few months. Generally results are mostly immediate.
As
a result of this treatment you’ll have brighter, clearer texture and
will be free from unsightly spider veins and have the confidence to show
off those legs.
