Coconut Oil: 6 Uses Ranging from Food to Beauty to Health

You're going to need to go out and buy a few jars of coconut oil because you'll want to start using it for cooking AND in place of many beauty products. You'll hardly believe what this amazing oil can do!
Read more after the cut...
Food
Let's start with the food. Coconut oil can be used almost anywhere any other fat could be! It's a perfect oil to saute with as it has an extremely high smoke point (when the fat starts breaking down). You can also use it as a spread, as the base for paleo cookies and baked goods and one of my favorites - to bake sweet potato fries! Simply toss sweet potato wedges in coconut oil and seasonings and bake.
Skin
Here's where things get exciting! Coconut oil can be used as a makeup remover, lip balm and entire body moisturizer. Keep a jar of this natural beauty product in the bathroom.

Acne
Coconut oil is known for its antimicrobial properties so its no wonder that it can help acne-prone skin. Simply dab some coconut oil right onto the pimple and it will fight the bacteria that caused it.

Hair
You may have seen hair products featuring coconut oil, but why not use the real thing? You can put directly on hair and leave on overnight as a conditioning treatment (don't put directly on roots) as well as rub a VERY tiny amount in your hands and run through ends of hair to reduce static. Bonus: your hair will smell tropical!

Toothpaste
Yes. You can even use coconut oil as a toothpaste. Simply combine one part coconut oil with one part baking soda and a few drops of peppermint oil and you've got a natural toothpaste that helps to clean and whiten your teeth without any dyes, flavors or sweeteners.

Oil Pulling
Swishing coconut oil around in your mouth for 15 minutes can have some serious, positive effects on your health and appearance!
This article outlines three reasons you should be oil pulling: whitens teeth, clears up acne, and helps with a glowing complexion.
