Ghana have qualified for the finals of the 2015 African Nations Cup tournament but the disgraceful scenes from Equatorial Guinea fans dominates the headlines.

The Black Stars defeated the host nation 3-0, however the embarrassing chaos that ensued in the match undermined the semi-final fixture.

Crowd disturbances forced the match to be suspended after 82 minutes, with the rampant fans causing a melee having seen that the tie wasn't going their way.

Ghana had the upper hand in the match, outplaying Equatorial Guinea in the match, and it would have even been worse had the Black Stars converted their numerous chances, and also their goalkeeper, Ovono who pulled up some good saves.

It was also a landmark game for the Ayew brothers who scored the first and third goals for Ghana, with Mubaraka Wakaso netting the second goal.

The Ayew brothers have now followed in the footsteps of their father, Abedi Pele who played in the Ghana team that got to the final of the 1992 Nations Cup tournament, incidentally it was against Ivory Coast.

Meanwhile Wakaso's goal was a milestone, being the 1,500th goal scored in the Nations
Cup competition.

However all those achievements on the night got shattered by the actions of the Equatorial Guinea fans who put up a show of shame to deride the continent.

The Gabonese referee had to temporarily halted the game but restarted after normalcy returned.

Trouble broke out right from when the first half ended, with Equatorial Guinean fans throwing missiles on the pitch as the Ghanaian players made their way to the dressing room.

But it escalated in the second half, when it became obvious that the host country will lose the game, with their fans losing their cool.

Even an announcement threatening abandonment if bottle-throwing continued did not deter them as they threw in more bottles .

At some point a section of the Ghanaian fans had to take to the pitch side for their safety.

Even a helicopter arrived, spraying what looked like water substance to dispatch the stands at the back of the post where Ghana was attacking in the second half.

However the game went through and Ghana confirmed winners, setting up a date with Ivory Coast in Sunday's final.

Equatorial Guinea might have bailed out CAF by hosting this tournament, however the actions of their fans looks to have robbed them of any goodwill they got from the action.
