Cameroon player Albert Ebosse dies after being hit by a stone in Algeria
A Cameroonian player Albert Ebosse has died after he was hit by a stone from the crowd while playing a match in the Algerian football league.
The 24-year old was hit by the stone as the players left the field in JS Kabylie's league match against USM Alger on Saturday.
And he even scored Kabylie's only goal of the match which they lost 2-1 to USM Alger.
His club confirmed on Saturday that the player had died from the incident, while in the hospital.
Already,the Algerian authorities have ordered the closure of the 1st November 1954 stadium where the incident happened in Tizi Ouzou until further notice.
The police confirmed that the cause of the player's death,was as a result of the stone that struck his head from the stands as he made his way out of the pitch.
Meanwhile,CAF president Issa Hayatou has called for "exemplary sanctions" to be taken.
African football cannot be the breeding ground for hooliganism,"Hayatou said.
"We expect exemplary sanctions to be taken against this grave act of violence."
